They bombard the suspect with a bunch of question which would be uncomfortable to answer.
Like Sam was asked how many elements can he use.
Most people wouldn't answer it. But Sam without a change of expression replied. 'More than Most'. It is deflecting, but it is true. Because of that, the other party has to ask the question again.
'Be specific?'
Then Sam replied with the number directly, because he has no qualms about actually revealing his power.
