Interlude: Harrison's Getback

Hello to those who have returned to read my extremely underrated masterpiece written by the most handsome author on webnovel.

In all seriousness, I'm so sorry for going MIA I just finished my midterms which means that for the next week, I have a little more time to post stuff, so expect more stuff until I have to go and study up for my regents exams.

---------

Harrison Thompson, from a very young age, was taught by his father one thing: "You were born a winner. In this life, you will always be a winner." His father said that to him practically every day of his youth, and he really took that and ran with it, adopting a massive superiority complex which he managed to just barely back up with his physical prowess and intelligence.

He was met with the crushing reality of life when, for the very first time, he was met with a "no." You see, young Harrison had a crush on a girl in his high school by the name of Suzie Armstrong, and he just couldn't help but try to get with her. He tried befriending her, but his reputation as an arrogant rich brat was off-putting to the much more reserved Suzie. After his attempts to be her friend failed, he tried to win her over with expensive gifts that got bigger and bigger, until he pulled up to her in front of the school in a bright pink convertible where he once again did nothing but make a fool of himself.

At that point, he was losing his cool as he racked his brain trying to come up with ideas on how to make her fall in love with him. He finally decided to ask his father for advice.

Young Harrison walked into his father's study. The darkened, sparsely lit interior had the light coming from the blazing fireplace. Harrison approached his father, who was in a red silk robe, sitting in a chair facing the blazing inferno. The slight movement of his hand as he slowly spun the brandy glass in his left hand.

Harrison stood next to his father, anxiety building in his stomach until he felt that his stomach was heavier than lead.

"Father, how did you win over Mother?" The words were barely a squeak out of the meek Harrison. His father's blank stare broke as his usually serious face contorted into a crooked half-smile. "I wooed your mother by giving her 90 gifts to represent every day that had passed since I fell for her, and eventually, I won her over," the older man spoke nostalgically. Harrison tried to ask another question, but his father returned to his thoughts, ignoring his still-confused son.

Harrison had one last idea, and it would require some serious planning. This grand design would be the thing that caused shit to hit the fan.

--------------------

After three weeks of scheduling and planning, it was time. During Suzie's lunch period, he executed his plan as a massive band started to play a song. Harrison walked out in front of the band and started to serenade Suzie.

His voice, so unbelievably angelic, caused all the female students to swoon for him, as Suzie seemed hypnotized by the massive display. This was what Harrison planned to happen, but in reality, his song was seen as an annoyance by all the students, and Suzie felt waves and waves of second-hand embarrassment as Harrison jumped around, singing his heart out.

When he was done, his forehead was covered in a thin sheen of sweat, and he had a giant smile on his face as he thought that he would finally get her love and recognition.

Suzie marched up to him slowly, and his grin grew wide as he daydreamed about their future, when a heavy-handed slap brought him back to reality.

Suzie was on the verge of tears as she yelled, "I HATE YOU, YOU FREAKING PSYCHO! PLEASE JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" Her tears came through as she yelled at Harrison, completely fed up with his harassment.

The crowd in the lunchroom just glared at him with hatred in their eyes, completely disgusted at what he had just done.

Harrison balled his fists and walked away. He slipped into his home, hoping to forget about the day and forget about the absolutely brutal rejection he faced at the hands of Suzie.

He pushed the door to his room and stepped in when he was greeted with the sight of his father, who stood in the middle of the room with an angered look on his face.

"Why did I hear that you were rejected in public by some girl from a lower class? Add on the fact that she hit you," his father said, his voice still and cold.

"F-f-father, I can-"

"SILENCE! I will not have my only son and the person slated to take over after I'm gone be a loser. So, I've handled your girl problem, but make no mistake, son, you will be punished for what you have done."

One month after his father's proclamation, Harrison found out that Suzie was exposed for being in an illicit relationship with another girl, and her parents found out and sent her to a conversion school. Harrison felt no guilt for this and actually reveled in how messed up she was when she came back.

This was a lesson he needed to learn in order to grow.

----------------------------

Harrison sat in his study, a glass of neat whiskey in his right hand and a light Cuban cigar in his left. His son prostrated himself in front of his father, his face pressed hard against the hardwood floor of the study.

His father took a sip and a puff before he started. "My son, you are my only child and the heir to the business, and I can't allow you to show such weakness ever again. I can't have my heir being a loser, so I will handle your James problem. But make no mistake, son, you must be punished for what you have done."

"Okay, Father. I'll accept any punishment," Flash said as a tremble went through his body.

Flash rose from the floor and stood at his full height as his father rose from his chair, cocked back his arm, and swung his arm full force into the ribs of his son. Flash gritted his teeth and winced as his father's knuckleduster-clad fist rocketed into his stomach an additional 15 times before his father felt satisfied.

"It hurt me more than it hurts you, son. I hope you understand why I had to do that."

Flash walked out with his hands clutched tightly against his waist, a very noticeable limp present as he slowly limped out of his father's study.

Once Flash was gone, his father reached into his desk and took out a phone and placed a very important call.

"Hello," the bored and deep voice of the person on the other line answered.

"I want someone handled ASAP!" responded Harrison.

"Name the target, and for 25 thousand, they'll be dead by next week."

"The target is a young man named James Oliver. He's about 16 years old, he's black, and he's taller than six foot," responded Harrison, as he listed off the very little he knew about the young man he had come to despise.

"Consider it done. By this time next week, Mr. Oliver will be history."

I'm trying to develop characters outside of James who is going to feed into the main conflict of this first arc.

I hope you like it and if u did make sure to give the book a review
