Jalapeno Fyo

Moving further to the south, away from the noise and hustle of the village. The village only guild, Chronicles lies there in the shadows of the thick forest.

With a loud achoo, Kazu splatters all the content from his mouth to Fyo's face. She stares at Kazu with a wooden look.

"Howitzer, incinerate." From the jaw of the staff, a stream of fire releases towards Kazu and burns him to crisps.

"So, why did you have that porridge, when you know there was wheat inside it?" Fyo asks as she continues to wipe off the white stuff from her face.

"Gulp... Allergy...gulp...can wait... gulp." Then he sneezes again. "Right now. I need the energy to make up for the blood I lost yesterday." *Achoo* Kazu splatters another load of porridge on Fyo's shirt.

"Yeah... sure." "God, I'm going to vomit," Fyo screams internally

Fyo then lets her chin rest upon her hand and stares outside of the window with a sad expression.

"I want to go to Florence…" Fyo sighs.

"By the way, Fyo, does your staff have a limit to what it can transform?" Kazu asks, completely ignoring Fyo's mood.

"Huh?" Fyo turns back, uninterested.

"Well, to be honest, I am not quite sure."

"What do you mean?"

"You see, I just call out random things to transform, and most of the time it works. The last time it didn't work was probably when I asked it to transform into a house of gold.

"Yeah... of course it wouldn't work..."

"Plus, this stuff doesn't belong to me, it was my father who left this staff along with this pendant."

Fyo picks up the locket from her neck, it took the form of an oval, made up of silver, and had some weird characters written on it.

"Are those.... letters??" Kazu leans forward to examine it.

"Yeah... it seems it is written in some ancient language, and I have no clue how to read it. But I want to know the meaning behind it. I'm sure it has some connection with howitzer too."

"And is that the reason why you want to go to the capital?"

Fyo turns her face pale as she looks emotional.

"Yes... I want to go there to search for my dad and after I find him, I want to..." Fyo then raises her head slowly.

"I want to ask him... why the heck did he leave his daughter behind in this shitty village!"Fyo starts throwing one of her never-ending tantrums.

"Oi, Fyo calms down, we are inside the guild."

"Do you know how much I hate this place? This filthy place?

"OH, here it comes ... Jalapeno Fyo!"

"It has no bathrooms, no washrooms, no proper water supply, no food, and most importantly I don't have a house!"

"That is like .... your problem, Fyo…"

"And it is because of this stupid village!"

"Are you going to blame all your problem on the village?"

Fyo then closes her hand and looks up as if she is asking for a wish.

"Do you know, every day, I pray.... that a meteor comes down and wipes it out completely.

"Oi, Oi. But if that happens, you will also be dead, Fyo…"

"Doesn't matter~ It is a sacrifice to remove the most cursed place from the earth."

"Damn... do you hate it to that extent to give away your life?"

"Also...I'm surrounded by two good for nothing monkeys, who think that the world revolves around them." Fyo starts to rap.

"Hey! You are not referring to us, right? right!?"

"I don't know what goes inside their heads. I can only imagine two houseflies playing see-saw inside their brains. There was not even a single mission it took part in without causing any kind of trouble.

Most of the money we get will go to fixing the collateral damage done by them and sometimes I must chip away a few of my coins over it." Fyo starts to break down in tears. "And every time I do that, my heart starts to crack bit by bit."

"Ok stop, we are sorry!"

"They will never brush properly and hardly take showers. After a long day's mission, I couldn't even come beside them. Their odor smells like unwashed socks that have been kept fermented for 10 years!"

"Stop! Everyone is staring at us now!"

"Do you know how I sleep beside you guys at night?"

"Ugh...."

"I choke myself to sleep!"

"Fyo stop! You are exposing your craziness to others!"

"I... I need to do something. Before everyone here thinks, we are weird more than it seems." Kazu says to himself.

"Um... Fyo, do you have any idea what your dad looks like?"

"Huh? I don't have a father what are you talking about?" Fyo shoots a death glare at Kazu.

"Areeeeeeee."

"My late mom told me that, one day when I was still an infant my father said he will go get some stuff for me from the capital but after that day he never returned."

"Ok, he is an asshole…"

Fanny who was too focused on a book suddenly slammed the table with a stern face.

"Yeah... this is not happening." He mutters.

"What happened, Fanny?" Kazu asks with a serious face.

"I didn't get it." Fanny's face lights up with a bright smile.

"How are you saying that while you are grinning so happily!?"

"I asked Zyun senpai to lend me this book."

"Book of... Invocation?" Kazu tries to read the red cover of the book that Fanny was holding.

"Does it work?"

"It's supposed to. To activate an invocation, you need to weave the proper signs for each invocation style."

"Heh...let's see." Kazu slightly leans over to Fanny to read the book.

"Art of invocation style no. 6: Memento of Zephyr Hazard."

"The spell didn't work the way it was supposed to when I used it, and I'm struggling to find the cause."

"Maybe ...it must be because of your mana."

Fyo's response came from the front as she casually enjoyed her milk tea and acted as if nothing happened before.

"Mana?" Fanny asks.

"There are 20 invocation styles in total. Apart from weaving sings, each invocation style requires adequate amounts of mana to properly command it. Moreover, the amount of mana required increases as the number goes higher. For example, Art of invocation style no. 15: Tapestry of-"

"By the way, Kazu, do you want to try them out tonight?"

"Damn, sure."

"Which one should we try..."

Kazu and Fanny turn the pages nonchalantly, ignoring Fyo's explanation.

"Wait...Art of invocation style number 5: Memento of burning fate…" Kazu reads out

"Let's try out this one...the name sounds cool enough"

"Sure"

"To activate it... you need to face your hands down after clapping, then bring your index fingers..."

Fyo on the other hand tries her best to control herself before she bursts out again. She takes a long breath and sighs.

"Um. Fanny, by the way, I wanted to apologize about yesterday"

"Hmm? yesterday?

"Yeah...yesterday, when we were almost killed by the orc lord, I called you useless and start blaming you, which is true though…"

"Oi, that's some whack-ass way to apologize!"

"The thing is...I think I went overboard there. I shouldn't be talking to you like that.

We three are a team, during hard times or when there is any kind of problem. Each of us should take responsibility when anything happens.

But yesterday I crossed the line and blamed everything on you out of frustration." Fyo grips her skirt tightly. "So... I'm sorry"

Fyo faces sideways with a dejected look as she apologizes.

"Oh! you don't have to say that. It's fine. I don't mind it anyway." Fanny scratches his head as he lets out a cheerful smile.

Fanny then "Also after all those things happened...Kazu's injury, we almost got killed, because of my idiocy it was my fault, so, I should be the one apologizing". "Also...I have seen a closer look at your boobs so it's even. Hehe he…"

"What!?" Fyo screams.

"Eh really? Kazu asks enthusiastically.

"Yeh...when she was taking off her coat, her boobs were jiggling up and down!"

"Damn. I missed a big opportunity…"

"From the looks of it, I think it must be B, or wait it could be E-"

A second later, both the boys found themselves stuck under an enormous tuna.

"As I was saying...". Fyo folds her arms and poses sternly.

"Um no... you were not..."

"Kazu, do you recall, that incident?"

"There were so many incidents that happened yesterday... you need to specify which one..." Kazu tries to answer properly while being crushed under the tuna.

"When our magic suddenly dispersed all of a sudden."

"Yeah. Damn it was weird."

"I think I know what it was. it was a spell. Howitzer, transform into Archmagi Lore.

Howitzer reconfigured itself and flew towards Fyo's hand, transforming into an enormous old book.

"That staff can do anything aye..."

Fyo fixed her eyes on the book as she flips through the pages.

"Ok, I got it. the name of the spell is dissonance."

"Dissonance?"

"The caster releases a faint wave that interferes with the opponent's flow of magic, resulting in disruption of casted spells and more fatal scenarios wiping out the magic completely from lack of coordination with the flow of magic." Fyo then closes the book.

"And all you need to do to activate it is...." Fyo then claps her hands in front of Kazu and Fanny "Do this."

"Ohhhhhhhhhh, I see!" exclaimed both Fanny and Kazu.

"I understood it."

"Yeah, it was informative, you're awesome Fyo."

Hearing the praise, Fyo flips her hair, "I know~"

"Did you get anything that she said??" Fanny whispers.

"Nope. As always, she is talking in some alien language." Kazu replies.

"So how do you command that spell?"

"Don't know, it isn't written here. But all I know is that you need to be a wizard or have mana inside your body to cast it.

"Is it possible that the person who cast it is from our guild? if it is so, then who else can it be?"

"I'm not sure, but it can be a monster too. I couldn't pick up the source since Howitzer was out of mana at that time."

Fyo then suddenly slams the door on the table "By the way I have been wanting to discuss this for a while." Fyo explains, with just a hint of sass in her words

"Huh"

"Don't you guys find it odd that we can't sense Zyun senpai's source of magic?"

"Since you mention it, yeah you're right. It's been almost a month since Zyun senpai was here, but I couldn't sense any magic from him. I thought it was just me…"

"Or maybe he is just hiding it," Fanny says.

"Not sure, but I find it odd for a powerful wizard-like Zyun senpai to not emit any kind of aura."

"Speaking of powerful wizards... who do you think is the strongest in our guild?" Kazu asks.

"Well, no doubt it will be Zyun senpai." Fanny answers.

"True but Ventix and Selene are good contestants too and also that woman...."

"Who?" Kazu then suddenly realizes who Fanny was referencing "Oh, Kuro-senpai..."

"She is no doubt the strongest female wizard in the guild. She sometimes emits unbelievable amounts of magic energy just walking around."

"Ah yeah...sometimes she looks at me like she is looking at trash…"

"Yeah, her glares are shots to the heart."

"To be honest I have a hard time trying to understand what goes inside her head," Fyo says.

"What are you guys talking about?" A voice suddenly comes out of nowhere and disrupts their discussion.

They all turn back to see Zyun, with his usual red hoodie standing behind them.
