Ambush

Fyo grabs a tree tightly and tries to not get blown away. The hurricane slowly takes the form of a ferocious monster's head and lashes down at the goblin who was running away.

Kazu turns around, to see where the noise was coming from only to see a huge tornado in the shape of a dragon, coming toward him.

"What the heck!" Kazu screams with his eyes bulging out. He holds the orc that got knocked out earlier in his hand and tries to jump off but just as he tries to jump, he slips and fell from the branch.

"Again!" Kazu yells as he slowly descends to the ground.

The tornadoes reap out branches and leaves along their path as it chases after the goblin.

With a ferocious roar, the dragon closes in on the goblin. The goblin let out a terrifying screech as it saw the jaw of the dragon about to devour it.

Before the jaw of the dragon closed in, the tornadoes suddenly stabilized and abruptly explodes, blasting off the goblin from the impact.

From the distance, Fanny watches silently, his excitement slowly fading. "Is that how the spell was supposed to work?" Fanny mutters to himself ignoring everything in the surrounding.

"No... I think I made a mistake somewhere, but where could it be?"

"We can think about that later, the last goblin has been knocked out somewhere, we need to find it quick " Fyo quickly interrupts Fanny's thoughts.

"Kazu!" calling his name, both Fanny and Fyo come running towards Kazu who had been lying flat on the ground with a few bumps on his head.

"I'm alright…" feeling as though his friends were worried about him, he tries to reassure them. "Where is the goblin, Kazu?"

"You better not have let it escape".

But Kazu was instead greeted with the total opposite of reaction from both.

"Here" in a wimpy voice, Kazu responds. Then he slowly turns his body sideways to unveil a smashed goblin in an oval shape.

"Oh, thank god~" Fyo claps her hand and smiles in relief. "You guys should be worried about me a bit"

"What are you talking about, Kazu? You are our precious team member, of course, we will worry about you." Fyo closes her eyes and keeps on smiling at Kazu.

"But your smile tells something else, Fyo".

Kazu slowly gets up from the ground and ties up the goblin with a rope,

"By the way, what was that earlier?" Kazu asks

"Which one? The mandrake screamed let out by Fyo or that cool! -"

From behind, a wooden club comes flying in and smashes Fanny on the ground. With her staff reforming to its original shape, Fyo explains "It was an invocation spell. And it was this idiot who cast it".

"Damn, that is really cool, Fanny. when did you even learn that?" Kazu asks excitedly. Fanny pulls out his hand from the ground with a V symbol and mutters "V" while his face is still sunken on the ground.

"Anyway, we need to find the last goblin, it must be stranded somewhere nearby," Fyo says.

"With that wound, I'm sure it must not have gone too far," Kazu says. He then stands up and stretches his body.

"Aye then let's get this over it and return. It's almost time for dinner".

Just then, Fanny quickly lifts his head as he picks up a huge threat coming toward them.

"Guys" Fanny tries to alarm his friends.

"Yeah, something is coming. Stay on guard!" Fyo quickly warns them as she grips her staff tightly.

"There!" Kazu points out at the bunch of red eyes slithering from the shadows. The red eyes soon turn out to be groups of goblins.

Fyo quickly turns behind her to see that another group of goblins was coming out as well. The three mages quickly find themselves surrounded from all sides by goblins.

"What should we do?" Fanny asks, feeling nervous.

"Run, of course!" Fyo shouts quickly trying to dismiss any nonsensical thoughts that the boys were trying to cook up.

"Listen, on my signal I will command howitzer to enchant us and jump out of here, it won't last for long but should be enough to outrun them" Fyo explains in a deadly tone.

Then from the woods, a giant 8 feet orc with a huge sword resting on his shoulder comes out, sending out tremors in its wake.

"Fyo, do you think it will work against him?" Kazu yells.

"Definitely, he is a fatso. It is an advantage for us!" Fyo replies reasonably. The orc lord stares at the three mages with his fearsome big eyes and then he pulls down his enormous sword to lay on the ground.

"Fanny, Kazu, get ready!" Fyo says while trying to activate her staff.

"Roger" both Fanny and Kazu reply in unison.

"Howitzer, deploy ariel enchantment!" Fyo commands her staff. From the jaw of the staff, a strong beam emits out with high magical energy.

But as soon as the magic starts expanding from the staff, a mysterious creature lies in wait for this perfect time.

He claps his big monstrous hands releasing a powerful invisible wave towards Fyo. The wave quickly interferes with the magic energy released out from the staff and nullifies it.

"What... what the hell just happened??" Fyo stares in disbelief "Right now, for a moment I felt like a strange magic just interfered with mine".

Noticing that Fyo is unable to deploy the magic, Kazu goes into battle mode. "Fyo, Fanny, stay back. I've heard of this.

If you defeat the boss, the rest of his minions will scatter away. I will take down this big guy instantly." Kazu says confidently.

"Thunder..." Kazu pulls his right hand and tries to imbue his fist with the lightning magic that he could muster with his remaining strength.

"Kazu NO don't do it! There is something wrong here!" Fyo shouts in a desperate attempt to stop Kazu. "...Burst!"

Kazu charges at his target with lightning sparkling out from his body but before his fist reached the orc lord, he experienced staggering in his movement. "God damn... What the heck is this!? I can't move" Kazu mutters painfully.

To his shock, the lightning coming out from him dissipates leaving him very vulnerable.

"What is happening here...is just like earlier with Fyo? Our magic disappears instantly." clenching his teeth, Kazu tries to recollect himself.

"Kazu look out!" Fyo screams from behind. But it was too late, the orc lord raised his enormous sword in the air and swung right at Kazu.

Fyo watches in terror in the anticipation of her friend being cleaved into two "No! Please stop it!"

Fanny, who was also watching the whole scene alongside Fyo decides to rely on his last resort to save his best friend.

"Please work, I'm begging you. Just please, at least work this time, unlike last time." Fanny's hand tremors as he tries to reach out for the hilt of the dagger in his belt.

Feeling it, He quickly pulls out the dagger and without wasting any time, throws it at the orc lord who was about to cut down Kazu.

[Come forth and disperse Titus]" Fanny yells. Just in time, the dagger intercepted the orc lord and Kazu, and by receiving the command, the crest in the dagger glows, quickly activating a magic shield.

As the sword clashes against the magic shield, magic energy pulses reactively.

But the brutal strength of the orc lord overcame the dagger's magic shield shattering it, while also wounding Kazu in the process.

Kazu is sent flying in the air from the impact with his stomach slightly cut open. Fanny and Fyo quickly rushed to the body of Kazu where he lay unconscious.

Fyo quickly pulls Kazu's head in his lap and checks his wound. "His wound is not deep, but he needs immediate treatment…" Fyo exclaims in panic.

Fanny quickly grabs Kazu's wrist and checks for a pulse. "His pulse is getting weaker; we need to do something!" Feeling helpless, he punches the ground.

"God damn, I am so useless… Why didn't I even try to learn some healing magic, when I had the chance?"

The goblins who were watching the whole thing, break out in laughter and start to make fun of them, their menacing laughs intoxicating the surroundings.

The orc lord then proceeds to walk slowly towards them and intends to finish them off in his next strike.
