Crow

Chapter 2 - Crow

Shocked, Raven replied, "How hard the job could be for you to offer me this?" She has so many doubts about this. Of course, he gives her money to pay for her living expenses. He pays for her brother Matthew's school tuition fees too. But never did he offer money and freedom to her for just one job.

"I know you're shocked but that is because this man is my mortal enemy," the chairman replied as he picked up a remote control and turned the screen on. In there he showed a middle-aged man who's wearing an expensive business attire that screams how much a bank he makes.

On the screen, she can see his profile which includes all the information about him that they will need.

"He's not just a detective but a multi-billionaire businessman who owns several businesses including a detective and law firm that he's running for years," he added.

"I supposed, he's hunting us," she replied casually. Well, of course, this business was here even before her. The organization has been taking assassination jobs since and has always successfully escaped from the authorities. No one can find a thread that will lead to this place nor the spider who's pulling it.

"That's right. My intel told me that he's been suspecting me but he couldn't find any proof yet," he replied with a stern expression. He seemed quite bothered which surprised Raven.

"How did he even know it was you?"

"I don't think he really knows if it was me. He's barely guessing, trying to catch me off guard," the chairman stated but now with a calm expression.

Raven doesn't really know anything about her boss. She just guessed that he has some kind of business facade to hide this organization.

"If you think he doesn't have any proof, why don't you just let him be?"

"I'm not a hundred percent sure he doesn't have any proof. He could be keeping it to himself until he gathers more." She wanted to ask more questions but she knows that the chairman won't like it so she decided to stay silent instead.

"You must be wondering why I always give you the hardest task." He paused and stared at the monitor. "That is because I'm preparing you for this mission. I'm not as evil as you think you know. I won't keep you here forever," he added and laughed. "But of course, it won't be easy."

That's right. She's not the only one who's good at doing her job. There are several assassins who work for the organization who are as good as her too. Actually, there are even better ones which is why she's confused about why he gave her the toughest missions.

Some of them were like her too, trapped. But most of them willingly work in this organization for the money.

Anyway, it still doesn't make sense for Raven. She still doesn't get why he wants him to do this s-rank mission and even offers her freedom.

It seems like the chairman can read her mind and said, "Don't overanalyze things. The others will have this kind of mission too. Even Crow."

Raven knitted her eyebrows because of what she heard. "Even Crow?" she repeated.

"Just like you, they will be released once they finish this mission, if not, you know what will happen."

"Why do you have to ask us if we don't have any choice but to do it anyway?" she firmly replied while trying to control her emotions.

The man chuckled and responded nonchalantly, "No reason."

He opened his drawer and took a folder inside and placed it on the table in front of her. "Everything you need is right inside this envelope. Falcon is not an easy target. He's very cautious. All of his meetings happen in secret and only a few people close to him know that. He doesn't trust people except for his family and his loyal secretary, Richard Miller who's been working for him for several years. He has skilled guards, guarding his home, offices and all his properties. He is skilled in martial arts and guns. You must be very careful. Getting close to his family member is the best way to get close to him. If they trust you, you will be able to enter his home freely."

Raven took the documents and read them. All the names of his family members were there from his spouse to his children. "He doesn't have any relatives other than them?" she asked.

"They don't. Falcon was orphaned from a very young age. And his wife Emilia is an only child," he responded and looked at her. It seems like he was trying to see Raven's reaction.

Meanwhile, Raven upon hearing the word "orphan", was bothered inside but no emotion can be seen in her eyes. She read in Geniere Falcon's profile that he worked hard to reach where he is right now. On the other hand, his wife Emilia Agcaoili is born with a silver platter.

Despite the fact that he grew up without parents, he has a pretty good relationship with his children. They loved him in fact. Raven raised her eyes upon reading what was written in the compiled article about Falcon.

"I think I know what he wants me to do," she thought.

"Do you want me to get close to his children?"

"By any means, yes. That's the easiest way to get close to your target. Falcon's weakness is his family. His children! They are as young and naive. It will be easy to manipulate them."

Raven sighed. "Do you have a plan in mind as to how I'm going to do that?"

"I'll leave that to you. If you need assistance, Crow is one call away. Right, Crow?"

Raven immediately turned her head to look at the person the chairman was talking to. "Crow," she mumbled. She didn't even feel him come inside the room.

A man wearing a casual white shirt and pants walked towards her with his usual stern expression.

She raised her brow as if she was asking how long he's been there. Crow understood that look and shrugged causing her to sigh. Raven and Crow have known each other since they were young. Crow came here after Raven and they have almost the same situation except the fact that Crow is not orphaned. His mom is still alive, but just like Matthew (Raven's younger brother) she doesn't know what kind of job Crow has.

Both of them have everything to lose, hence she knew Crow would want to have the mission too. But if the chairman decides on something, no one can change it. Raven thought perhaps the chairman had something prepared for him too.

She knows Crow. He doesn't compete because he is the very definition of the "best". He would always seem bored and nonchalant but that is because everything else just seemed beneath him. And that's how Raven would define him. He almost seems like the perfect guy if he isn't an assassin.

As anyone who met him would define him, Crow is a good son, he's intelligent, analytical, a man of few words.

"I'm sorry, what did you say?" he asked casually. Raven knew it. HE wasn't listening at all, nor did he care.

The chairman sighed and shook his head. He looked at Raven and said, "You two will work on the same target, actually. However, you will have different missions. You cannot disclose your mission to each other as usual. If one asks for assistance, no question should be asked, and just do it. Understand?"

"Yes, A," they said in unison.

"You may now leave, Raven."

Without a word, Raven left. She knows that he will discuss Crow's mission with him and it's not her business anymore. She must plan what she's going to do next. Raven knows that the chairman is true to his words. He's prideful and he never goes back to his word no matter how greedy and evil he is.

"I must succeed in this mission no matter what," she thought as she walked outside the premises.
