Rationalist: Reborn or Retarded?

The first six chapters are about MCs past life. It can avoided as it wouldn't have any effect at the beginning of the story. ---- In a room that is dimly lit not by an electric bulb but by an esoteric object. An infant about 6 months old lying in a cradle. Just by looking at him one could see clear traces of confusion in his face. 'What is this?...' He couldn't understand, as his memories are fuzzy, yet he realizes he knows things that he shouldn't know, things that didn't make sense, thinking in a language that he didn't even know the name of. In a magical world filled with esoteric flora and fauna where Magus, Weapon wielders and Martial artists reign, it's the story of a boy, Jayce, growing up trying to find a balance between his emotions and hyper-rational thinking he obtained from the 'knowledge' and 'awareness' he inherited as an infant, which forces him to analyze and decide everything in an overly rational manner.

Family

A family of three. Well, there's also a dog named Mayuri which has been raised for around a decade now. So we can say it's a family of 4.

The name of the boy is Edwin. Whereas his parents' names are Mark and Maya. They have been married for 22 years now, and Edwin is their only child.

Yes, they gave birth to Edwin only after over 6 years of their marriage. It's not that they planned it or anything, but rather because of their health conditions. So, for them, Edwin is their world, the very reason and meaning of their life.

Mark works as a supervisor in a motor vehicle company and Maya is a homemaker. Their marriage story isn't all that great of a love story. They were married because of the bond between their families.

For them, those years when they couldn't have a child were mentally torturous, even after consulting multiple doctors, doing all those religious prayers, visiting one place after another, they just couldn't conceive. Their relatives started to advise them in front of their face and talked crap about them being infertile behind their backs.

No matter how strong they were mentally, in the end they were still young and ignorant to face the society that saw infertility as some sort of crime.

No! Society saw it as a sort of punishment that was given to them by god for a never-occurred crime.

'What doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger ' like this quote. These hurdles deepened their bond, they understood each other better, they started to truly love each other, became more dependent on each other. Yet these issues also created a crack in their character, more into their own personality, so that they started to cope with the issues in their own ways.

Mark started to become a drink addict, losing his self-confidence bit by bit, whereas Maya's character morphed into someone who has insane mood swings and denial about her own mistakes.

They didn't visit any doctors as they were too focused on their physical condition, and in fact, they didn't even notice these alarming changes in their personality. Mark only has a mother with his father deceased long back and Maya's parents haven't been close to her ever since before the marriage. So they didn't notice either and people who noticed and genuinely advised them to check it only got cold shoulders as both of them thought they were nothing more than stress.

After years of trying, they finally conceived of Edwin. They became mother and father. They were excited but unaware to them, the scar was already left behind which only time could heal.

Ever since Edwin was young they cherished and pampered him. Buying anything he wants the next day, understanding his needs without him having to say anything. But that came in exchange for his freedom to a certain extent. Being their only child, they were afraid of anything that could hurt him.

He wasn't allowed to go anywhere beyond their street. He can bring his friends to their home but can't go to theirs. They were so strict that it started to affect Edwin in a very different way than they could think of.

From being arrogant and narcissistic because of his parents pampering him to losing self-confidence and effective communication because of his anxiety and fear that he unknowingly developed because of his parents scolding.

Edwin had come a long way in honing his mindset, learning from his constant failures, bullying, scolding and blaming that he experienced.

He realized that he could no longer unconditionally love or trust anyone, not even his parents, when he was 20. He slowly became selfish and started view everything from an objective point of view even when he understood the reasoning and emotion behind it.

He started regarding and disregarding people solely based on their uses and impact they have on his life, even though he kept telling himself it was extremely wrong on his side. In short, He becomes someone who is extremely rational for his own good that it's honestly frightening even for him.
