Chapter 33

He hated this feeling, this insidiousfeeling. It made him irrational and indecisive.

He’d never ached so much in all his life. His teeth stung with the urge to sink into Rory’s flesh. His head pounded with a fresh pain for every time he couldn’t make a decision. His fingers clenched empty air, but he remembered the feeling of holding on tightly and entwined. His stomach roiled with the anticipation of seeing Rory, hoping and wanting and missing him. The space in his chest, the place where his heart had once been, squeezed in renewed agony for every missing beat ever since he’d first set eyes on that face.

He had to resist this. It was taking over him, slowly but surely, and it would be so much easier just to succumb and let it have him. But he wouldn’t give himself over so willingly.

He had to fight it.
