“Go Fish is a children’s game,” Rory protested, raising his eyebrows.

“You’re playing with a vampire.”

“True.”

“So deal already.” Libs gestured at the bartender with one hand, and while Rory dealt their hand, their drinks were renewed.

The first time that Rory got a pair, Libs took a drink of whiskey and smiled just widely enough to show off the tips of his fangs. Rory took the hint, swallowing a mouthful when Libs got a pair. It went back and forth like this for a while, a silent contest of wills built up around a simple game that even children knew.

Their game gathered interest from all corners of the bar, with people staring at them out of the corners of their eyes. Libs swept the room with a sharp gaze from time to time to warn them off interfering, especially when he noticed that one of the tables in the back held a large proportion of Jane’s minions.
