“This is all we have, and you’re welcome to spread it out over one of those empty tables,” she said, and pointed.

“Thanks.”

He spent an hour looking through the files and making notes. And, he found several photographs of the family members. When the closing bell rang, he tidied up the folders and carried them to the desk.

“I’ll want to come back over here in a day or two with my laptop.”

“That’s not a problem,” she said. “If you like, I can leave the files here at the desk with your name on them.”

Carlton handed her another one of his cards, thanked her again, and headed back to The Folly. 4
