RAISING A PROTAGONIST

"Goodness, being the strongest is not as I expected at all. Everything and everyone are too weak and terrified. "My students are scared of me as well?" "Even powerful magic beasts die before I touch them!" "Hmm? Oh, he has the protagonist star but he is too hidden and might not shine. Hehehe, I'll groom this one and make him into the strongest too" Realizing that being the strongest comes with not only power and authority but extremely loneliness and unbearable boredom, vee fakes his death and travel to a far away land to live as a commoner. But just a few years after his retirement, his planet was invaded by a strong force that seek to conquer their home. But vee decides not to act this time and rather watch from the sideline while secretly helping someone else to become the main character in the darkest moment of their planet.

Shocking dual elements

"Age 15, elements: ice element and healing element, talent grade: peak for both elements," the woman said after quickly regaining her composure and trying to sound like it was no big deal though she could not help but turn to Alex who was staring at her with a startled and unsure expression on his face.

'Seems like the kid doesn't believe it himself either' the woman thought before speaking.

"That's right, you have two elements but don't get full of yourself. Dual awakeners are not common but are not rare either, there are tons of others like you so don't think you are anything special" she said in a dismissive tone, trying to create a humble mentality about the situation to Alex which was a big lie.

'You have to come here immediately! There's a kid who awakened two elements, a rare element, and a cosmos element at that and he's still alive!' the woman hurriedly sent a mental message to someone before continuing the awakening.

"Next!"

"Wish me luck!" Vee whispered to Alex who had just arrived back at his seat before standing up and heading for the platform.

Alex was still lost in thoughts when he heard Vee's results getting announced by the purple-haired woman.

"Age 15, lightning element, talent grade: high"

Alex raised his head just in time to see the dazzling purple light in the awakening stone, he was happy for his friend that he had awakened a strong element. After all, Vee had most likely not been a seedling like he was and chances of not awakening were not low.

But he could not still get the matter of his awakening off of his mind just yet.

'I have two elements!'

Alex said in his thoughts repeatedly, that he was not sure if what the purple-haired woman had said was true or not because he had never heard of a mage with two elements. Of course, everything that he knew about mages came from old man Bretrato's stories.

"Healing element, what sort of element is that? Does it do anything other than healing?" Alex mumbled softly to himself.

"Hey, don't stress your head too much. The lady said your case isn't rare so they should be able to teach you in the academy to use your elements better"

Alex was pulled out of his thoughts by Vee's whispering voice. He looked to the side and saw Vee smiling at him with all his teeth showing in a foolish grin.

"Hehe, did you see? I awakened the lightning element! It's a rare element too!" Vee said in an ecstatic manner that made Alex smile without realizing it.

'Yeah, the academy will be able to teach me more about it' Alex thought as they returned their focus to the awakening.

"Age 18, awakening failed"

The sudden announcement sent the hall into a short moment of silence as a youth stared at the awakening stone with eyes similar to those of a dead fish, he did not move for a good couple of seconds and just stood there.

"Next!"

Uncaring for the feelings of the boy, the purple-haired lady announced the next person to come up while she ruthlessly sent the boy out.

Up until now, not a single person had failed their awakening and even the lowest talent grade would beam with smiles once their results were announced. The trend had been the same for so long that the boy had acted as if he had not heard anything when he failed to awaken and he was already 18 which meant that this would be his last go at awakening and he had failed!

Just like people always say, someone would have to start something before others would follow in their steps. After the first person failed to awaken, more and more people began to fail their awakening as well. It was as if there was an unwritten agreement for most of the people at the back to fail as not even half of the people behind Alex and Vee had successfully awakened after literally everyone in front had awakened but their cases were better than the boy who started the trend because none of the others who failed were even 17 years old yet, they would still be able to try their luck about two or three times more before giving up.

As for the boy who had failed to awaken first, he would have to put all his energy into living as an ordinary person from now on.

A few hours later every kid had either awakened successfully or would have to try again the following year, those who had awakened were told to stay while those who failed were told to leave.

The number of the kids left in the hall dropped down to a considerable amount after those who failed left and those who were left were not even up to seven hundred.

"Congratulations to you all who are seated here right now, you all are now students of the great Royal Academy as of now!" The purple-haired woman stood in front of the kids and said in a soft but loud voice.

Some kids instantly burst out with cheers upon hearing this while some literally cried from joy, they had finally gotten into the Royal Magic Academy! Although the process was simple since they simply had to awaken their elements, it felt as if they had gone through some dangerous and hard test before finally getting admitted.

Surprisingly, the purple-haired woman did not stop or silence them and allowed them to make as much noise as they wanted.

Her eyes scanned around the students, stopping on the faces of a few for a brief moment before finally stopping when they fell on Alex. Currently, Alex also looks very emotional at first glance.

Although he did not express it like the other kids, one could tell that he was holding himself back from crying.

'I…I made it. I made everyone, I got in! You all should wait for me, I'll work hard and make you all proud!' Alex was boiling with emotions inwardly as he remembered the village head who had tirelessly brought him from the village and everyone back home. Remembering all the suffering he had seen the people of the village go through for the past few years as he could remember and the humiliation they faced at the hands of that old man. A single drop of tears escaped from his eye which Alex quickly wiped off with his sleeve before turning to look at Vee who was also smiling at him.
