While the sea of people was getting noisy, twenty people suddenly appeared in the air above them.
"Look, above!"
"Mages! They are definitely mages!"
"Of course, only mages can fly freely, and powerful ones at that"
"Damn, we haven't even entered the academy yet and mages are already coming to receive us"
The appearance of the twenty people caused some people to cry out in surprise, amazement, and admiration. Of course, these were ordinary people. Those who were really mages did not create a ruckus and just silently observed the twenty people who should be teachers or staff of the academy.
"Everyone who registered to be part of my academy should have been given a number tag which I believe you all brought with you today, if you know you forgot yours then do yourself a favor and quietly walk out of this premises to avoid embarrassment" One of the twenty people in the sky voiced out in an extremely loud voice, his voice was so loud that it felt like he was using a megaphone.
The whole place immediately became silent and only the rustling of clothes could be heard as the people searched for their tags. It seemed that everyone brought their tags as not a single person moved an inch towards the gate even after five minutes had passed.
The man who had spoken earlier nodded after seeing everyone was still standing in place.
"Good, since everyone brought their tags it shows that you all take the academy seriously. Place your tag against your left chest area, there's an enchantment that will glue it to your chest. Also, if you know that you are above eighteen…do yourself a favor and leave this place on your own, and don't waste anyone's time" the man said once more.
The place immediately turned rowdy as more than a thousand people left the academy grounds with crestfallen expressions. Alex was shocked by the sight of a man in front of him suddenly sighing before turning to leave with a registration tag in his hand, he had thought that this man was the parent of one of the kids.
Although Alex might not know, it was a general knowledge that the awakening of a mage would only delay for as long as seventeen years while the age of eighteen was added for those who awakened late. After the age of eighteen, it was already pointless to try awakening again and one should just focus on living as an ordinary person.
While the thousand-plus people left the place, the remaining people all attached their tags to their left chest area after which it would stick to their clothes like a badge.
"Alright, without wasting time. There are twenty awakening halls in the academy and each one of us will lead a thousand of you to each awakening hall. The parents and guardians of each participant should wait here. Once again, for those who are above eighteen but still refuse to leave and are hoping for a miracle…just pray that the miracle happens" The man said in a terrifying voice, immediately, more than a hundred people rushed out and left the academy ground.
Now, the number of people who had tags was even less than twenty thousand.
"Number 1 to number 1000, follow me" The man who had been giving instructions voiced out before flying in the direction of the first awakening hall.
"Number 1001 to number 2000, follow me," another of the twenty people said before flying away at a slow speed so that the people could keep up after struggling through the sea of bodies.
"Number 2001…"
"Number 10,001…"
"Number…"
And just like that, everyone was separated and required to follow one of the flying figures.
Alex found out that he would need to follow the woman who had long purple hair to the fifteenth awakening hall, so he turned to look at the village head before he left.
"Go quickly before you lose sight of your guide, I'll be waiting for you here" the village head chuckled and patted Alex on the head.
The kid nodded before turning and began to walk in the direction of the purple-haired woman, a lot of people were also moving in the same direction.
Someone suddenly tapped Alex on the shoulder from behind while he was moving, he looked back to see who it was and his eyes widened in surprise when he saw the white-haired kid from yesterday, Vee.
"Yo, Alex. Wassup bro?" Vee asked with an innocent smile grin on his face as he began to move beside Alex.
"Wassup?" Alex stared at Vee with confusion on his face, unable to understand what the boy was talking about. After all, no one used such terms in his village and he had not been out of the village for long so he did not understand what Vee meant.
"Hehe, I mean how are you doing? Feeling tense? Are you excited or nervous about your awakening? Which element do you hope to awaken, you look like you thought about it all night" Vee giggled energetically and rained questions on Alex.
"Umm,'' Alex hesitated, unsure if he should reply and at the same time amazed at how a single word could mean so many things.
He had to be cautious of who he made friends with to avoid getting himself into trouble.
'But he doesn't seem like a bad person and he's even taking the initiative to talk to me, it would be rude to ignore him. Moreover, I can still keep my distance if he suddenly turns troublesome one day' Thinking of this, Alex decided to try to get familiar with his new friend.
"Actually, I already know that I will awaken the ice element because I froze some things up days ago. And yeah, I'm nervous" Alex replied with a half smile on his face.
Vee's face showed visible shock when he heard Alex.
" What?! You are already a seedling? How lucky you are. I would be brimming with confidence if I were you, nothing would dare go wrong during your awakening" Vee exclaimed, causing a few kids around them to stare at Alex with envious eyes.
'By any chance, are seedlings rare?' Alex wondered inwardly because the stares of other kids were making him uncomfortable.
