Once Arthur had been picked up off the ground, we made our way into the palace, though I still couldn't shake off my bitter pout. Gus, ever aware of my swinging emotions, sighed.

"He's not a baby, he's survived just fine in the water before he met you."

When my pout didn't ease, he tried again, this time with warm fingers wrapped between my own, which had grown chilly from the water without my notice.

"I impressed his name on him and he knows your voice, so if he hears you calling he'll come, if he feels like it. He'll probably stick around, since dragons like to sit on territories rather than roam. There aren't many coral reefs where he was hatched too, so that helps."

"Indeed, I suppose there aren't many coral reefs around the Aurlio islands," said Arthur with a pert frown. "But again, what is a sea serpent doing all the way over here?"

"I couldn't quite catch that." Gus pinched his elbow, brows furrowed. "The feelings I got were like...instinct. An unexplainable urge."
