Chapter 110

I woke up in my old bed at Red Swallow Inn.

It took me a long time to figure out where I even was. How I got there was a complete mystery. Gus and I had planned to go to the Inn after the temple visit, since it was the weekend, but I couldn't remember any of how we got from point A to point B.

I raised my hand to take a look at the ring, and was only mildly caught off guard by how heavy my arm had become. Oh, no, wait, I'd become weaksauce.

Maybe I should have asked for muscles as well as healing magic, I thought, though I figured no amount of muscles would have helped after a visit with a god. Gal, what were the mechanics of this? Wasn't he all-powerful? Why'd it take energy out of me anyway?

My stomach gave the cry of the lone wolf in winter. Or the lone slug. Whatever howls in burbling noises.

So I bullied my lead body into a sitting position and got my feet under me. But I only made it to the door before I had to drop down into a crawl. God, this was the pits.
