Harry's owl instantly flapped its wings and Harry nodded. He said "I have a way. But you must keep it a secret!" Quinn stood still while the boy took out a cloak that shimmered in the light...no wait..That's an invisibility cloak! "Perfect! Let's go right away! Do you have your wand just in case?" Harry shook his head as they draped the cloak over their bodies. "Aunt and Uncle locked all my school things downstairs.."
Quinn sighed in frustration "Alright well I've got mine so it's fine." He looked the boy over and took notice of his worn and far too big clothes. "I'm going to give you my present while we're at it." And so they snuck out of the house. When they got outside they got behind some bushes to remove the cloak.
"Alright now for a future tip as I'm sure nobody's told you. If you just raise your wand up anywhere along a road" Quinn did just so and instantly the Knight Bus arrived. "This bus for magicals arrives to pick you up." He looked at Harry who had a stunned expression so he led him in. "We want to be let off just down the street from the leaky alright?"
As they got off, Quinn had to lead Harry as he had trouble standing straight. "It's a rough ride I know, but it's real fast! And pretty cheap. Now let's go buy you a cap to hide your most obvious features. Do you want some new glasses as well?"
Harry looked up to him in awe but Quinn put a stop to it. "Alright let's go!" So they went down the street and got a cap to hide his hair and scar and then Harry went into an optician's office. "I'll notify Albus so you take your time with the exam or glasses or whatever. Don't worry about the price for now. My treat, alright?" Harry reluctantly agreed as he got into the optician's chair.
Quinn sent out a letter saying that he was giving Harry a birthday present and that Harry had requested to see his Godfather that same day. He hoped Albus could sort it out and send a letter back quickly while they were in the alley.
When Quinn got back he was met with a boy who shone from happiness at his new glasses. They were also round but these had a thin silver frame instead of the bulky black he had. "Quinn! I see so much better in these!" Quinn smiled as he paid for the rather expensive glasses. "And you look a lot better as well! Now let's go to the alley alright?"
They went to the alley and due to the slightly changed look people didn't recognize Harry at first glance. They had a bite to eat at a secluded table in the leaky Cauldron and then Quinn went to get Harry his real present. "Alright. So my real present is going to be to get you a set of clothes that actually fit you. Size wise AND style wise. Let's go to Horizont alley!"
Harry was dragged along. He wasn't used to being given gifts and this felt odd but he had a smile on his face the whole time. They reached a small store in Horizont alley and were instantly met by a beautiful young woman. She had sandy blonde wavy hair and a small cute face on top of a beautiful, if a bit short, body. With an illuminating smile, well trained probably, she spoke. "And how may I help you today young gentlemen?"
Quinn looked at Harry. "This little guy needs some new clothes. I'll get him one set for now but if he likes it, he'll probably be back." The woman nodded sadly. "Oh those clothes are horrible. No offence little one, but we'll sort you out!" Harry was a bit saddened at the comment on his clothes but seemed excited at the prospect of new ones.
A couple of minutes later she had measured everything and they agreed on a style and material. They were going to use the finest acromantula silk and some dragonhide for his boots. She would sort him out with a full set! The main colours would be yellowy orange and dark brown but the details on his robes would be rather nice. It was supposed to be wearable with or without robes and still make sense though. She would even make him some real smooth underwear. Quinn leaned in to whisper in her ear.
"Now I'd really appreciate it if you left some room for growth. If I have my way he'll be getting nutrient potions for some time and he'll probably start growing soon." She nodded "I understand. They will be adjustable but fit him perfectly for now as well." He took a step back and smiled at her "Perfect! Can we be back in about half an hour to get his things? We're on a schedule." She nodded and wrote the last things down. "Of course. Half an hour, maybe forty minutes depending on how the shoes are. Unless I can find my helper it'll take forty."
They waved at the young woman and left the shop. Harry stood in front of him and looked him in the eyes with determination. "You're giving me way too much Quinn! I don't know if I can accept all this.." Quinn chuckled. "No trust me, I should be giving you more than this. I'm just making sure you have what you already should." He put his arms on Harry's shoulders and met his gaze. "A nice pair of glasses with the correct prescription and clothes that fit you are things you should already have." Quinn's expression turned sour as he asked his question.
"How are things really at home Harry?" Harry looked away. "It's okay." Quinn was hoping it wasn't as bad as he now feared. "Are you sure Harry? Because I saw the way your Aunt talks about you. I saw the locks on your door and the bars on your window. I saw the empty room and the clothes that don't fit you." Harry's haze hesitantly met Quinn's and what Quinn saw was a scared child. "It's okay to not be fine Harry. We'll discuss this with Dumbledore later, we'll figure something out. Maybe if your godfather is let out, you can go live with him.
Once again Harry's eyes lit up by the possibility and it just further proved to Quinn how terrible a place he was living in. He wondered if Dumbledore knew.
The duo went to Florean Fortescue's and bought some ice cream while they were waiting for both Albus' owl and the clothes to be ready. As it turns out they happened at the same time. While they were walking back in a good mood towards the tailor's, an owl landed on Quinn's shoulder. He took the letter and saw that it was a small note from Albus that said '14:00 at Level 2'.
They picked up the clothes and Harry got dressed in them right away. He looked a lot better in them and Quinn could visibly see in real time how his confidence grew as he looked at himself in the mirror.
"You look great Harry! The ladies at school won't be able to keep their eyes off you." He paid the tailor and gave an extra tip "Don't spread it around that we were here alright?" She nodded as her gaze turned to the smiling young boy. "That's alright."
"So Harry. We now have about an hour before we meet Albus at the ministry. Anywhere you want to go?" He shrugged so they went to a small bookshop called Obscurus Bookes to browse for a few minutes.
They both found very interesting books on subjects they barely knew existed, but didn't buy anything at this time. Soon they were at Level 2 of the ministry and meeting up with Albus. "Ah! Harry my dear boy, how are you? You look fantastic!"
Harry gave Quinn a grateful smile before answering "I've had a great time today Dumbledore so I'm fine. How are you yourself?" Albus smiled at him "I'm glad. Well I've had a good time as well. I've managed to convince people to let you in there though I must warn you that he's not fully recovered after spending 11 years with the foulest of creatures so I hope you'll forgive him if he seems a bit weak."
Harry was led off into an interrogation room and Quinn could clearly see Sirius' face lit up as he saw the boy enter. He cried out in joy "Harry!" And then the door closed behind him.
"Albus. We have to talk about Harry." Albus looked towards the closed door with a smile "Yes, I do believe you've done well by him so far.." Quinn snapped his fingers to properly get the headmaster's attention. "Not about that. About his aunt and uncle."
