I’m The Protagonist?! 7.4

After an eventful day in school, Feng Shi was glad to go back to her fluffy bed.

Waving goodbye to her friends, she saw her driver waiting for her beside their car. The driver was a middle-aged man with a dark skin tone and a bodybuilder physique since he also doubles as her bodyguard. His narrowed eyes which hardly seem to be open did clue her in that he does have an Asian bloodline too.

The previous host had never been close to this guard of her as she finds him to be intimidating. Who would blame her though? The man hardly smiles and was a retired member of the military.

She can't remember ever saying a word to this man and had always preferred Butler Lan since he was amicable and have a friendly personality. The previous host always cowers when facing this man.

Which made the man slightly raise his brow as he gazed at her in interest when instead of cowering like always, Feng Shi smiled at him instead and held his battle-hardened stare.

Without the hindrance of other students who willingly makes way for her, she managed to get to her car quickly.

"Good afternoon miss" The middle aged man greeted politely with a monotonous tone as he opened the door.

"Mister Zang, right?" She asked with a sweet and soft voice seemingly hesitant but her innocent smile was rather inviting to avoid any suspicion as she passed by him and got inside the car.

If she wants to make full use of this man, she needs to first make sure that she won't arouse his suspicion. She doesn't want to know what would happen to her if the world's consciousness finds out that she is not the original host of this body. Especially so since her heroine status has yet to be lifted and flipped into a villainess instead.

Zang Tou frowned before nodding. This is the first time that the young lady that he serves had ever dared to try and interact with him, which makes him curious as to why? Why does she want to do so now?

He paused from closing the door before peering at her curiously.

"Yes, does the young miss need something?" He asked quirking his brow but Feng Shi shook her head.

"No, I just wanted to clarify. But do you know when Uncle Lan would be back?" She asked since she had forgotten to get that cleared.

"Sir Lan has taken a break for a whole month I believe. I guess the young miss would have to endure my presence alone for a while. However, shall you survive?" The man towered over her sited form, looming over her, testing her courage but to his surprise once again, Feng Shi just grinned toothily.

Xiao Wang, on the other hand, did not like his action and took it as a challenge to his master.

"Grrr! Growl!" "Stay away from my master!" Taking on a ready-to-pounce position on her lap, Feng Shi clutched his nape before he could attack her potential ally.

"Nope, I won't mind that much. I would like to get to know Sir Zang more since we will be spending more time together now" She beamed taking Zang Tou aback.

"We'll see, young miss" Zang Tou replied before closing the car's door and going o the driver's seat.

Feng Shi did not mind his skeptical tone as even she isn't sure how to gain his trust. But, one thing for sure is that according to the original trajectory of this world where the previous host remained as a protagonist instead of being demoted to the villainess, Zang Tou was one of her cheats. The sadistic but loyal man has saved her countless times.

Although she has Xiao Wang who is more than capable of protecting her, she doesn't want to risk it since they do not belong to this world and, unfortunately, she doesn't think that her soul is strong enough to try and test that.

The ride to the car was filled with her trying to get him to warm up to her by starting conversations which were perfunctorily replied but when she asked what was his life like as a soldier and his adventures, she managed to get him to start conversing with her at least.

But as they talked, he did not notice the sly smile that graced her face, hook and pull. Feng Shi has enough patience to catch this big fish in her net.

As she looked out the window she could not help but be wistful as she remembered always stopping by a certain sweet shop with Qin Si when she passed by them.

As she think of those, her mind could not help reminiscing about the times that had spent with him them.

A small smile appeared on her face as she folded her hands by the window and lay her head on them as she reminisce about when she had pulled him there every time they passed by.

There were also those times when they had chased each other around trying to wipe icing on each other's face. The mother and daughter never minded and her fans could only bitterly eat the forcefully shoved dog food when their shenanigans are caught on cam.

She knew that she didn't lose him but she can't help but miss the stoic yet warm-hearted and childish man she learned to love.

Xiao Wang whimpered in sadness and brushed his head on her in comfort. "Master, you can't keep on holding on to stuff like this. They would only hold you back. You have possibly a thousand lives waiting for you to live. You need to learn to let go" He advised through their link and Feng Shi knows that but sometimes knowing what is for the best and putting it into action is not that easy.

Zang Tou rearranged the mirror and saw her melancholic expression which made him wonder what could have possibly caused such an expression on a carefree young lady. He then focused back on driving thinking that it has nothing to do with him. He doesn't want to be pulled into the messy power struggle of the rich.

Feng Shi, on the other hand, continued to be held up in the past not knowing that time is moving forth and she is about to face one of the menaces of the plot in this world.
