Xia Zhilan was not very excited. She had been to many 'high-class' parties like these before and it had been extremely tiring. Everybody hid behind their fake smiles and dished out insincere compliments eloquently. At a single mistake, these people would always have the first laugh, taking joy in others misfortune. Unfortunately, that's how it is in places like these.

When Xia Zhilan had first started out as a businesswoman and made multiple mistakes, she could feel others mocking gazes and backhanded comments about her social status, her education and her family background, yet when she became highly successful, the same people came flocking to fawn over her.

Perhaps this was why Xia Zhilan seemed to favour Shi Huilang - she was in the same position a couple of lives ago. People looking down on her as if she was worthless or beneath them.

Unfortunately, she realized that Ye Jiangyu will definitely be there and Xia Zhilan had to scrap the idea of wearing an extremely glamorous but unconventional dress covered in glitter and diamonds.

Instead, she had to go for a knee-length cream coloured dress with a sheer floor-length overlay and an off the shoulder neckline. The chest area of the dress was covered in lace and diamonds.

As for her black waist-length hair, it was slightly wavy and tied up into a half up half down hairstyle. There was also diamond-encrusted flower-shaped pins of different sizes pinned into the top of the ponytail.

When Xia Zhilan stepped into the party hall, combined with the bright white lights she looked like an angel descending from heaven and immediately enchanted all the guests with her ethereal appearance.

Many of Xiao Yingyue's friends from school immediately surrounded and fawned over her, hoping to gain favour.

As expected, the male lead was also there and of course noticed Xia Zhilan but unfortunately for him, his father, the current CEO of Ye Corporations, was introducing him to future potential business partners to help him gain connections.

When Ye Jiangyu saw the 'flies' pestering and 'flying' around her, he felt like pulling her away and keeping her next to him - far away from everyone.

If Xia Zhilan heard that, she would definitely give him a hard slap to the face.

Male protagonists are crazy!

When the crowd around him eventually dissipated and his father noticed him glancing at his classmates, he let him go socialize with his friends.

Who would have thought that when he got there, he would use his domineering aura to pressure all of them and make them practically run away?

Of course, Xia Zhilan was unaffected, after all in the past she would have been the one emitting an ice-cold aura to suppress and scare everyone.

But for the sake of the mission, she stepped back and attempted to shrink into the wall while shivering uncontrollably.

'Dude, what the f*ck? I was in the middle of a conversation! How can you just scare them away like that?' Xia Zhilan thought to herself.

Of course, Bai Meixiu, who stuck with her, was pulling her hand in an attempt to flee from the male protagonist.

When Ye Jiangyu's father saw this he felt like face-palming at his son's actions.

'How did I raise my son like this' He thought to himself.

Meanwhile, his wife only rolled her eyes and thought 'Like father, like son...'

"Ye Jiangyu! What are you doing? You're scaring everyone away!" Bai Meixiu said, trying to sound threatening despite her voice shaking.

Ye Jiangyu stared at Bai Meixiu with a dangerous look to force her to leave when he saw her tugging desperately at HIS Yingyue and trying to make him leave.

Of course, Xia Zhilan didn't miss the possessive look in his eyes and shivered in disgust.

'How temperamental. One minute he's hanging out happily with Meixiu and the next he's shooting her death glares?'

Unable to endure the pressure anymore, Bai Meixiu threw a quick apologetic look at Zhilan before running away to safety - far away from Ye Jiangyu.

'Side task 45% complete' The system's voice rang out in her head.

At least System 005's update uplifted Xia Zhilan slightly from her bad mood.

"Ye Jiangyu... What are you doing?" Xia Zhilan said in a quiet, nervous voice with tears welling up in her eyes.

Without saying a word, he harshly grabbed her wrist and pulled her next to him.

Xia Zhilan felt her blood boiling.

'Boy, you best let go of my arm or I swear I'll f*ckin-'

'Host please calm down! Calm down, calm down please!' System 005 said in a terrified voice.

Xia Zhilan secretly gave him a dirty look without him noticing while cursing him in her mind.

'You're lucky my system is defending you this time...'

'Maybe I shouldn't have stopped her...' the system thought to itself, shivering.

Taking a deep breath Xia Zhilan put on her unbelievably believable perfect scared face back on.

"Ye Jiangyu let go! You're hurting me!" Xia Zhilan said in a slightly louder voice.

He slightly loosened his grip.

Xia Zhilan: ...

'Thanks a lot, male lead.' Xia Zhilan thought sarcastically.

Xia Zhilan resisted the urge the punch him whilst being dragged across the hall with everyone watching.

'Mr Male Lead, I know you're the favoured son of heaven but I don't appreciate you doing this! So could you please get your filthy hands OFF me!' Xia Zhilan was angry and planning her revenge.

When they reached the drinks table, he finally let Xia Zhilan go.

Xia Zhilan expected him to say something but he just stared at her without doing or saying anything.

She stared back, whilst fidgeting nervously.

'Okay... Are we having a staring contest or....? Because I feel uncomfortable.' Xia Zhilan said in her head. 'What? You expect me to talk first? You're the one who dragged me here!'

Zhilan attempted to slowly walk away but Ye Jiangyu glared daggers at her.

'What the f*ck, man? You just want me to stand here and do nothing?!' Xia Zhilan ended up staying due to her unwillingness to ruin her carefully built facade.

With nothing to do she casually picked up a glass of champagne and started drinking.

Unexpectedly, the original Xiao Yingyue had an extremely small bladder and need the toilet after 2 glasses. 'This guy won't follow me to the bathroom right?'

"Um... I need to go to the toilet." Xia Zhilan said meekly.

After a while, he finally nodded.

'I'm not coming back, goodbye~' Xia Zhilan thought happily.

After exiting the bathroom, Xia Zhilan kind of expected a group of thugs waiting for her but of course that was reserved for the female protagonists.

Xia Zhilan quickly sent a text to her parents before they start worrying and left the building to find her car where her driver was waiting.

'System 005, what percentage has the side task been completed?'

'60%' The system responded.

'I literally only stood there. Well, I hope it doesn't decrease when he realizes that I won't come back'

'The percentage will only increase and cannot decrease. However, it may be harder to increase it if you anger him too much.' the system explained.

'Really?' Xia Zhilan's eyes lit up and laughed somewhat evilly.

The driver glanced at the mirror and was slightly freaked out at her evil laughter whilst being covered by the darkness.

Meanwhile, Ye Jiangyu's facial expression was getting worse and worse as the minutes ticked by. Eventually, he called his subordinates to search for her. When he finally found out that she had already left his angry aura scared off everyone in his vicinity and stormed out without informing his parents.

'Host, your target is extremely mad right now.' System 005 informed it's host.

Xia Zhilan casually shrugged her shoulders.

'Not my problem.'
