Chapter 2: Film Empress doesn’t need a background (2)

The fateful encounter starts with the male lead Shen Rui, feeling sickened by the countless flattery received from executives of entertainment companies. Feeling a need for fresh air, he exits to the balcony where he makes contact with the female lead, Ye Wanwan, on her break.

At first, what caught his eyes was the innocent atmosphere this random beauty exuded, but as he edged closer to her, he could hear the muttering of her worries for her family's situation, of how she would be able to afford her sick father's hospital bills.

What then conspires is the lending of much needed capital to a desperate beauty from the unreasonable overbearing president

The generic love contract 'I pay for your life and now you're mine' plotline, where the female lead is subjected to the whims and desires of the male lead no matter how dog-blooded it is.

Tang Ling, in this story, is a side character that doesn't have many scenes in the plot, only being one of the actresses that is affected by the female lead's rise to stardom with the male lead's background as support

Tang Ling is widely known as the top female actor of her generation, being nickname by the media and her fans, the 'Female Empress', for her arrogant cold demeanor that was refreshing in the circle, differentiating herself from other actresses who were two-faced in real life, being sincere and appealing outside but in secret rotten inside

Tang Ling, unlike the rotten apples of other actresses, was not afraid to reveal her vanity for money and status, and hatred of people she didn't like, mostly people who aimed to perform unspoken rules with her

Unlike other actresses who would be scolded by their companies, Tang Ling is a treasured artist of a small company, being the golden goose in their lineup.

Tang Ling, prefered to be the focal point within a company, over one of the many popular actresses of a big company that could be favored/unfavored at the whims of the executives.

She can be said to be the most unpretentious person in the entertainment circle, but not all days were good for her, as the arrival of the female lead into the entertainment industry caused a wave to hit every actor and actress, including Tang Ling herself

The female lead signed a love contract with the male lead, promising to be his lover and worker in exchange for paying off all the support needed for her father's hospital fees

The male lead saw the promising beauty shown by the female lead and deduced he could make her a new generation of actresses to even surpass Tang Ling

At first, the female leads acting could be said to be mediocre at best, so the response from the circle matched that assesment

But dissatisfied with others, thinking they had dirt on their eyes for not realizing the beauty of the female lead, the male lead, Shen Rui, aimed to artificially make popularity by burying the popular actresses like Tang Ling, and giving his company's resources to his little lover instead to gain heat in the entertainment circle

This action would've sparked mass debate among the shareholders of the company, as the gains wouldn't be nearly as high as the losses, but unfortunately for the shareholders, the majority of stake was owned by the Shen family, so even if the male lead's plan was unreasonable, there would be the full support of the company behind him

Shen Rui can be said to be a genius in business, but as soon as he met the female lead, his mind was muddled by her, leading people to believe, even the second generation rich genius can be a fool when he falls in love

Tang Ling, although not working for a big company, still couldn't escape the unfair blocking of the rich Shen Rui, with the directors being threatened to not use her, unless they themselves would want to be blocked from being on any of the theaters owned by a subsidiary recently bought by the male lead's company

Tang Ling, remembering the plot, told her system in a sympathetic tone "System, the original owner really got the short end of the stick, In every way she is better than the female lead, but just because the golden thigh is too powerful, she loses her hard-earned position?"

System: [That is why we were assigned here host, this is a mission to restore the prestige of the original owner that was unfairly stolen from her, her wish is to stay the film empress of the entertainment circle]

Tang Ling had mixed feelings about the leads, in one hand she hated the male lead for his manipulation of other actor's careers in order to further improve the female lead's opportunities, but on the other hand, the female lead remained 'innocent' to her surroundings, acting like a white lotus that didn't know the troubles of the common people.

In the end, Tang Ling really couldn't control herself when she met the male lead, Shen Rui, and ended up beating him in front of the public to satisfy the original's wronging

Who did the male lead think he is?, Tang Ling herself is also a person who isn't an easy bully target!

Tang Ling had a grin on her face when thinking of the satisfying pummeling she gave "System, it felt good to teach the son of destiny1 who is the real boss ヽ(＾Д＾)ﾉ"

System: [And now you will be meeting that son of destiny in the banquet tomorrow, what will you do?]

Tang Ling pretended to think for a while and replied to the system with a carefree expression "Probably nothing, I felt that the lesson I gave him was satisfactory for now"

The system himself couldn't help twitching his nonexistent mouth

System: 'Maybe he should apply for a new host'

The sun started anew as tomorrow arrived much to the anticipation of Tang Ling

She finished her daily morning grooming and received a text from her agent, Li Qing, telling her to head downstairs into the car she was driving to head to the banquet

After replying with a kissing face emoji, Tang Ling took a few minutes before entering the car to meet the nervous Li Qing's face of blame

"Remember, apologize to Mr Shen in this party!" She reemphasized to Tang Ling with utmost importance

Tang Ling revealed a non reliable assuring smile and said "Relax Sister Qing, you don't need to worry anymore, have I ever wronged my people?"

Li Qing didn't feel any safer with this assurance from her artist and partner, but unknown to her, Tang Ling secretly added to her heart saying 'My people might not be wronged, but i can't guarantee others :)'
