Chapter 21

"No, you're not."I grasped Zaire by his wrists to veer him in my direction. Stared directly into his eyes, yearning to hear a giggle, hoping that he is joking. My emotions are all over the place. I don't know how to feel.

"Yes, I'm", Zaire stared into my eyes, holding my shoulders. From his eyes, I knew that he wasn't lying and this crushed my already broken heart into pieces. I don't what I anticipated, but I foresaw a future with Zaire.

"I want to see you.", somehow I was able to gape my tears.

"Want to see me"

"Yes, I want to see you as mermen. I want to touch your tail and feel it."

"Okey". Zaire was able to see Zendaya emotions, even though she tried to hide them and he understood her feelings. It's so hard to love someone that you can't be with, particularly when you have just discovered love. When you had never imagined that one day, you will love.

Zaire departed from his Kingdom to embark on a journey to find a wife and the future Queen of his kingdom. This journey was exhorted by his father as Zaire was being sloppy in selecting a wife from his Kingdom. He already denied a few proposals. He kept grumbling about how he wanted to find love, as an excuse for a marriage proposal. Yes, he did hear of love and love at first love. But Zaire himself didn't believe in an idiotic thing called love. Fencing and traveling the world was all that he loved. He wanted to see beyond the sea and the mermaid world. When his father initiated the idea of searching for a wife, he saw it as an opportunity to finally see the world.

Rather than searching for love or a wife, Zaire was occupied with uncovering the terrestrial part of the Earth.

He had come across numerous mermaids from Kingdom to Kingdom, lake to Lake but Zaire didn't even look in their way. He was keen on discovering this is terrestrial part of the earth and its animals.

There was no way that a mermaid could have impressed Zaire because he didn't give them a chance. He gave all his attention to the beautiful world.

After traveling several days, Zaire finally arrived at his final place, Amari. Amari was a little special as he knew that he will meet his childhood friend, Faith. He knew that the will be no one, who will try to impress him. He knew that Faith will not complain about him to his Father. Where there is Faith, there is freedom.

Because it is Faith, Zaire thought of going an extra mile in discovering. He wanted to go to the human habitat. He made sure that he arrives at night so that he can wake up early and see humans' life. He greeted few animals, which includes Tom and Sedi. He borrowed a traditional Amari attire from this man that Faith trust so much. Looking handsome, he headed to the Amari royal dance. He couldn't believe that he was in a human Kingdom.

"Wow", on his way to the palace, Zaire met people wearing their traditional clothes looking so elegant. This is when, he first saw Zendaya, wearing her beautiful traditional attire. Zaire was left breathless and his heart pounded faster.

"Hello", Zendaya greeted Zaire. He didn't know that it was the clothes, walk, beautiful figure, voice, or her complexion. I guess is that love at first sight, that he heard about. Zaire followed Zendaya and watched her dance at the Amari royal dance. Before the medians could begin the dance, Lefa called Zendaya. That's when Zaire learned Zendaya's name and he knew he will never forget the name of this beautiful meridian. That's why he knew Zendaya's name when Zendaya lied about her name. The was no magic that told him the truth. If there was something that told him the truth, every time someone lies, then he would have learned about Tom's sneaky ways.

He heard that the King will be selecting a wife, and Zaire was certain that the King would select Zendaya. He knows, he would have selected Zendaya, if he was the King. I mean who won't choose a beautiful woman like Zendaya.

Zaire left an Amari royal dance before the King could pick a wife, first because he didn't want to watch the King select Zendaya, secondly because he felt like he is losing his mind. How can he be captivated by a human, being around humans is probably affecting him.

Zaire was in the forest, still thinking about this girl. "Zendaya, Zendaya", the name recited in his mind when he suddenly heard a voice. "Who is there?", that was Zendaya when she was hearing a moving sound. Zaire decided to take a look, that is when he saw Tom about to swallow a woman.

Zaire didn't know, whether it was coincidence or his terrible fate to see Zendaya again. He ignored the fact that he is a merman for a while and enjoyed Zendaya's presence. They argued a little, and Zendaya fell asleep in his arms. He hated the fact that he had to leave Zendaya.

Zaire told himself that he wouldn't return to see Zendaya. It was better for him to stay away from Zendaya before he falls deeply in love, to a point of no return.

The next day, he changed his mind and told himself that he will see Zendaya for the last time. He wanted to impress her, so brought some fishes with him.

That when Zaire came back holding some fish and found that Zendaya is not where she left her. His fury when he realized that Zendaya left, was evidence that he should stay away from Zendaya. However, Zaire searched for Zendaya, his heart yearned to see her again.

He was falling deeper and deeper in love with Zendaya to the point where he almost kissed her.

When he left Zendaya with Tom for the second time, he wasn't sure if he will see her again. He wants to see her, but it is better if he doesn't.

He was sleeping, when he had the same dream that Zendaya had, this made him want to check on Zendaya. He left the lake, even though he knew it was dangerous. He feared for Zendaya's life than his own.

On his way, he heard Zendaya screaming, this enabled him to locate Zendaya.
