Chapter 36: Nurse Ellie

The ground was hard and cold beneath my body. The night was cold. My body was cold. Why the f*ck was everything so cold?
I'd lost too much blood.
"Stay with me," someone said.
Hands gripped my body, and I was lifted. Pain ripped through me and I lost consciousness.
I blinked my eyes open and was in a moving vehicle, sprawled out in the back seat.
Lance was leaning into the back from the front passenger seat as we sped down the road, his hands pressing against my side.
"What—" I groaned as we hit a pothole and pain stole my breath.
"Don't speak. We used up all the blood on everyone else as you asked, but now you're in danger of dying," Lance said in a rasp.
I closed my eyes and nodded. I didn't remember doing it, but it was the right call. "How many died?"
"One shifter and one vampire. We managed to save the rest of the injured, but they were already gone."
"Call the Alpha King," I said, my voice weak and my vision tunneling.
"Dominic already did."
