The Room - Nora - Chapter 9

Karstum leaves the room and saw Alicia already waiting for himself leaning on his car.

Alicia looks at Karstum and smiles as she speaks.

"You are a little late."

Karstum just chuckles as he enters the car, and Alicia sat on the passenger seat.

Karstum started the car and started driving. He started speaking.

"We first go to "Caffe Nora" then we will go to Fire Mountain Highschool, after we finish your signing. We will buy you a car and then you are too free to do what you want for the time being."

Alicia nodded and started speaking.

"Father, thank you for helping me out, but try to teach me some kind of business things so that I can work for myself. It is good that you are helping me out but I would like to earn my money."

Karstum slowed a little and laughed as he looked at Alicia.

He knew Alicia has no mentality about a spoiled rich kid because of himself or her mother before she died, but he did not expect these words to come from her mouth.

He knew that young people at her age always dream about having the chance of doing anything without needing to work for it, having a lot of money, and not worry about the future and everything.

But seeing Alicia is not like other young people, Karstum felt good and approved Alicia in his mind.

Karstum also knew that people who have no money or not enough resources can say that they want to work all of their life even if they have money and resources to live without working in their lifetime.

But knowing this did not mean that Karstum believed these people.

These did not have any chance to live their life without worrying about their future or without working at all.

He knew that the true face of people will only surface if the man or woman has enough resources and money to live without working.

If they are still working, this means that they are a hardworking and capable person.

It is easy to say colorful things like "I will help the poor when I have money" but hard to do when the person who says these words has the actual money in their bank account.

As Karstum drifted away in his thoughts, Alicia started looking outside. They did not enter the town center, for the time being, Only scenery Alicia is seeing the time being was forest scenery.

The forest was endless, wet, and verdant. Juniper, poplar, and crabapple, who left just enough light for bright mushrooms to grow in the moist and fertile bottom layer below, dominated its canopy.

Five minutes later, they entered the town center. Alicia started looking at people and their behaviors.

Most of them buy their coffee from the shops and wearing basic and casual clothes carrying their computers going to their office or sitting and working in a coffee shop.

The behavior of people pretty normal.

One thing different from the people who live in big cities that Alicia notices the smile on the face of people.

Almost all of them had some kind of smile on their face and if they do not have the smiling they carry positive energy. Alicia can feel the energy of positivity radiating from the humans even when she is in the car.

The buildings were not too high, but they made them not too small and most of the buildings up of stone and wood and pretty decent looking.

Only the office and workplace buildings are taller and others are just at the height of three to four stories, not much.

Karstum noticed the interest of Alicia as he looked at her, and he started speaking.

"It may come as a surprise but there are only about five to seven middle-sized big companies in this town, It may look not much but it is enough for the people who are living in this town as most of them work online and many of them are rich because of the lands they have"

Alicia nodded and asked.

"So, most of the people here have lands individually belong to them."

Karstum nodded and started talking as he is driving the car.

"Most of the people living here buy land before came to this place, and they rent their lands to companies like Heart Farm, in the return company pays them and use their land, I will buy a land for us in the next year or months."

Alicia smiled as she listened to her father's plans.

She knew better than everybody that her father is not in a good mood; He is trying too hard to show that he is okay.

How a man who lost his wife yesterday could be in a good mood, Alicia thought within her mind that he behaves like this because he is feeling responsible against herself.

He tries to hide his sadness but Alicia is not a person who could not understand her father thoughts and feelings.

As Alicia was thinking about these things, they finally came to Caffe Nora, Alicia gulped as she looked at the building of Caffe Nora.
