Inside a castle, with men in armors bowed to a man as he entered a hall. Inside the hall there was a big rectangular table, before even he reached the table he shouted out loud with some anger in his voice

"WHY ARE THE TROOPS STILL INSIDE THE CITY?!"

When 7 people present at the table heard him. Some of them avoided his eyes. While one of them spoke in a neutral voice without any fear.

The duke felt his anger rise and a look of disgust in his eyes. As he looked at the man who spoke. He wanted to pull his sword and slice this man head of for long time.

But, he couldn't do it. As the man who spoke was one of the royal strategist sent from the place. The duke took a breath before asking the man in cold voice.

"did you ever been on a battle field tomson?"

The man in question frowned before say

"i don't think. Me being on a battle field doesn't concern this matter my lord."

The duke knew he would waste his time if he continued this talk with this sliver spooned royal dog. So he turned towards others before speaking while ignoring tomson.

"we will leave in 30 minutes. Reed, freya and tomson are leaving with me to rescue the forest men."

"lord aden. I don't th…"

"don't make repeat myself tomson. You can come with me or go back to royal estate today. I will let you decide. "

With that the duke turned and leaved to make preparations. And under 20 minutes duke was leaving the city with 100 armed soldiers along with reed, freya and tomson.

It took them 6 days just to reach the forest of genchi. As they proceeded inside the forest. after a day they entered they encontered a group of beast. It didn't took them much effort to kill them all.

But as they continued to venture more inside the forest. They started to face larger number beast and stronger beast. Their travelling speed got slower and slower. the duke gave a angry and murderess stare.

For the first time ever tomson felt fear towards duke. The journey which should have taken them a month at most had taken more than 2 months as they encountered more and more beast and as the got close to their destination.

They have encountered a saint level beast with a beast horde. Even though the duke killed it he had to spend some time and effort. Which further slowed them down.

And when they finally reached their destination, all they found was scattered bones and remains of a settlement. Even though the duke, aden ross expected that they may have been some major causalities. He hoped at least few of them survived.

he felt guilty as he saw the ruins of the battle field. Even though he knew no one must have survived, he still looked at reed and freya before saying.

"reed, search of any clue to see if they moved somewhere else and freya caste a life detection spell "

Hearing dukes orders. Reed bowed and started looking for clues while freya nodded and cast a spell with her eyes closed a golden light emitted from her hands as it spread in all directions just like a sound wave.

To freya's surprise she felt a weak small life right beneath them. she felt little puzzled as it was too weak for it to be a human. She wanted to caste another spell to see what kind of creature is that. But she could she heard reed's voice.

"there is a underground bunker beneath you my lord."

The duke face lit up after hearing his voice and he ordered some one to open the bunker. But before he could feel happy he heard freya saying

"no one is inside my lord. but I sensed a small and week life force underneath it seems some kind of beast."

"no harm in checking it out."

And so they did. as duke went inside the bunker he saw uneaten bodies of women and some children. And as the went deeper. Aden ross(duke's name) saw something that puzzled him.

He saw an uninjured body of a skinny women hugging a baby. As he got closer he noticed something unbelievable. The baby in the women's arms seems to breathing ever so slightly that if anyone else other then him see this will think the baby is dead.

"it is a baby"

Freya muttered as she too noticed that the baby is still alive only due to the spell. Aden handed his sword to reed and knelled down and slowly lifted the baby in his arms. To his surprise the baby woke up and started crying.

He looked toward the freya without speaking. Freya immediately released a healing and strengthen spell on the baby the baby face got a little red and lively. But it still kept on crying.

Aden looked towards the dead mothers body and spoke

"i am sorry,I promise I will take care of your baby for all of you."

Duke felt guilty as he couldn't keep his word and lead this forest people to die. and with the only a single baby left alive that to some kind of miracle.

He was sure that the women seemed dead for more than 4 days. But somehow this baby is alive. His first though was some kind of spell used by women before her death

It seems even on her last breath. She was expecting someone to save her baby. He felt more and more guilt thinking how many died while they were hoping that he will come for their rescue.

As he was lost in thoughts he heard a annoying voice which finally made him mad.

Before tomson could finish his sentence a sword sliced his neck before he could react. He body fell down as his head separated from his body. Aden with one of his free hand took the sword from reed and slashed it in a speed fluid motion.

After a few seconds, aden kept his sword in it's sheath. And said

"tomson died by a beast during this expedition."

Reed and freya both bowed and said at the said time
