Simon continued down the hallway filled with people that felt like they were talking right beside his ear. Some stepped on his shoe while others bumped into him without apologising. "Argh. This is driving me crazy!" Simon thought to himself. As he got to a less populated area, he looked at his phone. "Next class is Math... Room C217? Just a floor above me." he mumbled. Unlike the previous class, it was uneventful and almost unbearable. Unsurprisingly, Simon fell asleep.
"Hey!" A voice called unto him. Despite hearing it, Simon decided to pretend not to. This led to the person to continously call his attention.
"What." he finally responded, unable to go back to sleep.
"How come are you sleeping? It's only the second subject!" She replied. With a grunt, Simon replied without looking up "Not everyone had a nice sleep like you did".
"Righhhhhht..." She replied in a sarcastic tone.
"Names Connie!" she added.
"Huh thats weird. Can't remember asking you." Simon replied as he finally sat up straight to look at Connie. Brown well fixed hair, clear eyes, warm smile, and a hint of a girly perfume. "A good upbringing" Simon thought.
"oh come on, your name?" Connie asked back. Simon looked at her and begrudgingly said "I'm Simon.". Connie's face lit up as she extended her hand. "Nice to meet you Simon!"
On the other hand, Mr. Dane, the math teacher, was not too thrilled about the friendship of the two. "You there the boy in the hoodie, last name!" he demanded as he pointed at simon. "Sanders" Simon replied casually.
"And the young girl beside him?" Mr. Dane said in a loud tone.
Connie was flustered and embarrassed "C-Crest" she answered respectfully. Mr. Dane, who looked extremely satisfied with his authority, continued to question the two.
"Now Ms. Crest! Can you tell me the answer? I suppose that you were listening. Were you not?" the teacher said proudly.
"U-um" Connie was in a trance as she can't even think straight.
"Tsk tsk tsk. Well? What about you boy?" Mr. Dane said as he pointed to Simon. "What would be the derivative 2x^2+3x+5? This is really simple if you listened to me." he added.
Simon tilted his head as he looked at the board and back at Mr. Dane. "You haven't even taught that yet." he replied. "You were just explaining the theorems with no given examples." Simon added.
Mr. Dane was so shocked that he can't say a word. "Never in my life have I've been this humiliated by a student." he thought.
"Out.... Get out." Mr. Dane ordered as he glared at Simon. As Simon stood up, connie mouthed the words "I'm sorry". Simon simply looked at her.
As he was about to exit, Simon looked at the board and back at Mr. Dane one last time. "Answer was 4x+3 by the way." he said as he closed the door behind him.
