Preparing for Monique’s release

Darcelle had to get herself ready for tomorrow afternoon when she would carry the child out of the gate in an overnight bag. The night nurse would be on her way to take over Monique's supervision, but she always arrived a few minutes late. So, Monique was usually on her own for about half an hour while the night nurse took her time about taking over.

"Hopefully she'll be as late as usual tomorrow as well," Darcelle told herself before walking out of the nursery to get herself some tea for her break. There were enough toys around Monique to keep her occupied.

In the library, Darcelle read through the list of instructions on her phone again.

"Can I really do it? What if one of François' men catches me just as I leave?" she asked herself as she sat on a chair.

"But it will be even worse if the police caught me and arrested me along with François," she told herself.

"I guess there's only one way out, but hopefully, in this house, it's only me and the driver who know about this situation.

She then went to her bedroom to pack the small, basic things that she would need tomorrow evening. Only her purse and reading glasses.

Laura rubbed her hands through her hair where she and Blake sat in the hotel lounge area.

"It's night and the police haven't found out anything on their side. So, when is Monique coming back to us? We can't spend the night without her.

Heavens! She can't spend the night without us," Laura exclaimed.

"But, remember what Carminda said? She said that she's got it worked out and I know from personal experience, that she does have the power to intimidate someone.

So Monique will be out of that man's house by tomorrow. We should just be strong and pray for her," Blake responded with a deep sigh as he rubbed his hands together.

"Tomorrow evening is very far away. Can you imagine what's going through her little head?"

"Yes, but remember that the kidnapper said that she was perfectly safe and that he'd hired a nanny and a nurse for her? So, he knows that he will be in double trouble if he causes any kind of harm to her," Blake responded.

"The police should have wrapped this up within a matter of hours. They know who the culprit is, so they can just barricade his gates and intimidate him in some way," Laura protested.

"No, that's how Monique can get harmed. Rather wait overnight and do as Carminda says. That way we can at least know that Monique is gonna be safe in the end.

You know that it's always better to disarm someone from the inside."

"Then the police should demand that he sends us a video of Monique where we can see that she's fine," Laura remarked as she stood up from the couch abruptly.

"Okay, then, let's ask them. But let's be careful that the press doesn't see us," Blake agreed. They could not phone the police because Enrique took it on himself to phone and interact with the police, since he knew them better. He felt very bad about the fact that the couple's child was abducted due to him in an indirect way.

The only policemen that Laura and Blake could talk to were those stationed in front of the hotel, in case Monique showed up.

The only problem with that was the fact that the media was also there in full force because the abduction was an international affair.

"How will we get past the media to talk to a policeman?" Blake asked.

"Let's send a waiter with a message," Laura suggested.

"Maybe they need permission from the hotel management for that," Blake responded with a deep frown between his brows.

"Then how do we get a message to the police? Waiting for hotel management approval is going to be so long. I want to find out if Monique is okay now," Laura stated, stamping her feet impatiently.

"Let me ask Carminda to do it," Blake suggested and phoned Carminda right away before Laura could protest.

She closed her eyes trying to calm her nerves. She tried to see a good, inspiring image of Monique, but she had to fight seeing images of her daughter in tragic conditions.

She snapped her eyes open to get rid of the bad pictures, just to see Blake smile broadly at her as he finished his call to Carminda.

"What's so amazing to make him smile like that?" Laura asked herself in confusion.

"Nothing can go wrong because all the signs are pointing towards one thing. Three psychic people saw the same thing," Blake stated excitedly.

"What are you talking about?" Laura asked frowning at him.

"Well, they all saw the nanny and Jacqueline also had a confrontation with the nanny," Blake replied. He was smiling as if he had seen a miracle.

"I thought that Monique was already free from the way that you look," Laura responded as she shook her head in disbelief.

"So, did Jacqueline phone the nanny as well?" Laura continued.

"No, something strange happened. Apparently, Jacqueline had an outer body experience and met her in some kind of trance or vision," Blake replied, still looking very excited as he took Laura by the elbows and looked into her eyes.

"What? Can she really do that? I had no idea. But it sounds like fabrication just to make us hopeful. We still need the police, anyway," Laura responded, shaking her head obstinately.

"Can you remember the last time when we were in a similar tight spot? The police came in only afterwards," Blake reminded Laura with a firmly convicted look in his eyes.

"So, I should just believe that this nanny would release the child to us out of intimidation. What if she's afraid of her boss, the kidnapper?"

"Oh, she's much more afraid of Jacqueline and Carminda," Blake responded with an optimistic glint in his eyes.

"I should really hope so. Isn't she the one who took Monique out of the restaurant in the first place?" Laura asked with a sharp look in her eyes.
