[Look for a Protagonist

Description: Host has gotten the system for almost a week. It's time to stretch your muscles to find a protagonist of this world to leech off to!

Time Limit: 1 week

Rewards: 100 Leech Points

Penalty for failure: Spirit Deviation for a day]

'The heck? So, even if I didn't do anything, the system itself would eventually push me to do something. How unlucky!' Shi Long grumbled as he jumped up from his hard rock bed upon being notified of that sudden mission.

A week had quickly passed ever since he regressed to his own poor body five years before his supposed death. That day of his death also coincided when his sect, the Mighty Dragon Sect, was raided by unknown attackers causing destruction all over.

Having gotten a new lease on his life, Shi Long had spent the first week mulling over what to do with this unexpected luck.

Shi Long was originally a below-average Outer Sect Disciple who neither had any talent nor luck during his previous life. That's why, even though he finally got a stroke of luck that he was waiting for nine whole years, the supposed motivation eluded his mind, resulting in his decision to wait and slack off.

He could still remember the day of his death. The day a catastrophe had befallen his sect. Being attacked out of nowhere, Shi Long escaped and somehow found himself hiding below the Sunlit Lake located behind the Sect Master's courtyard. He, along with four other disciples who found their way there, was killed due to one careless and yet atrocious mistake…

One of them farted which resulted in bubbles that floated up the Sunlit Lake. Through those bubbles formed from a fart, one of the attackers found them hiding below the lake!

Marvelous unluckiness...

That's where his memory of his previous life ended.

Truthfully, Shi Long was originally a transmigrator from a modern world called Earth. However, heaven has it to not bestow him any Beginner Package to start his journey in this new world.

After four years of existence, he only managed to reach the 3rd Stage Spirit Gathering Realm, very average attainment among the people of the world. Five years after reaching that stage, he met his untimely death without even breaking through to the 4th Stage.

Was it really untimely or was it just his absurd misfortune working against him? Shi Long couldn't be sure unless he gets to relive that day once more.

"Shi Long! Get out of there, you trash!"

Suddenly, a loud banging rang from the door of his simple room. Following that, an angry roar woke Shi Long up from his trance.

Realizing who it belonged to, he instantly turned his head towards the door, the slits of his eyes forming an unsightly glare. 'Oh, well, here we go again.'

Resigning to his upcoming fate, his eyes soon returned to a droopy look that exuded extreme laziness.

Shi Long then closed the System Messages hovering in front of him before conditioning himself to act as a believable pushover with a bent back. Using the only furniture decorating his room, an almost blurry small mirror, he checked his form a few times before nodding in satisfaction.

While maintaining that kind of posture, Shi Long went to open his dilapidated door. Before that though, he made sure to take heavy steps for his almost rotten wooden floor to creak loudly to indicate that he was about to open the door.

It's a good thing that the owner of the voice held back and decided not to kick open his poor door or Shi Long would probably sleep with an open door tonight and the following nights after.

"W-what can I do for you, Senior Brother?" Shi Long humbly smiled while showing the whites of his teeth to the owner of the voice as soon as he pulled open his door. He intentionally stuttered to fake fearing the one standing in front of him.

Even though Shi Long called him a Senior Brother, the owner of the voice was way younger than him in terms of age.

If he could recall correctly, the speaker was called Hai Tuo. He's a young Outer Court disciple of the Mighty Dragon Sect who shot up the ranks within a year after admittance.

Currently, he was sitting already broke through to the 4th Stage Spirit Gathering Realm. A stage higher than Shi Long and a stage he never reached during his previous life.

Because of that simple fact, their seniority was reversed.

In the Mighty Dragon Sect, there's the rule that states that even if one was already a white-haired old man or woman, nearing the end of a human's longevity, if one's cultivation realm was lower than the other person, that someone would become the junior.

It's a simple rule that clearly favors those with talent. You're still young but an older guy irritates you? Surpass his cultivation base and take the seniority from him.

That way, the new disciples always strived to better themselves.

"Do you even need to ask? Do I need to pick you up whenever I will have a use for you? You trash dragon. Hurry up and follow me!" Hai Tuo fumed at Shi Long's face. His nostrils were flaring as he waved his sleeves in an unbridled fashion to show how bad his mood is currently.

Hearing Hai Tuo's angry blabbers, Shi Long raised one of his eyebrows while snarling at the boy in his mind. 'This f*cking twerp thinks he's already a hotshot just by ranking in the Human Roll of the Outer Court. Little did he know, he's still trash like me who just got lucky with his family's resources!'

That's right. Shi Long would never forget Hai Tuo.

As one of those who tormented him because of his lack of talent, he paid close attention to the kid, even making countermeasures not to encounter him during his past life. Due to that, he's clearly aware of Hai Tou's fate five years from now.

The highest realm he will achieve was the 5th Stage Spirit Gather Realm. He would be stuck in that stage because of his poor talent. That disqualified him from even reaching the Inner Court Disciple position. The only reason why he reached the 4th Stage Spirit Gathering Realm at the start was caused by his father. Hai Tou's cultivation base got boosted by the theft of a 50-year-old blood spirit flower that his father used to feed him. That flower, when refined, could forcefully boost one's cultivation base but with a cost. The stagnation of one's talent.

'Yeah. That's such a waste to use such trash. Even I never coveted it. I knew as much that even if I used that kind of spiritual herb, it would never be effective.' Shi Long mused in his head.

When Hai Tuo's father was proven to be the culprit and got stripped of his position in the sect, a lowly Outer Sect Elder, the boy suffered from the constant bullying of the other disciples who surpassed his cultivation. That further led him to become more stagnant in his future progress.

Although Shi Long never saw Hai Tuo's end before his death five years in the future, he's aware that he also remained as an Outer Sect disciple.

'Haa… Why do I need to be commanded by fellow trash? Simple. It's because between the two of us, I am the one currently labeled as trash!' Shi Long sighed and inwardly shook his head.

Before Shi Long followed Hai Tuo, he thought of the mission he had just gotten from the supposed cheat system that he acquired after regressing.

'Ah. Is this kid possibly a Protagonist? Nah, not possible… But on the off-chance that he is…'

Shi Long denied it at first but when he reached that thought process. He opened his system interface and went to the Inventory. Inside it was one Golden Item with an Eye as its icon. It's the sole item stored in it upon receiving the system after his death.

He unhesitatingly tapped the Golden Item. Its description magnified in front of him.

[Eye of Destiny Peeker

Item Rank: Myth

Details: An eye exclusively made for the Host of the Protagonist Leech System. By replacing the Host's left eye with this 'eye', it will allow the Host to view any individual's Destiny Halo.]

'Destiny Peeker... Is this really a cheat item?' He mused.

According to the Mission, he only needed to find a protagonist of this world and the reward for it would be 100 Leech Points.

During the week wherein he only loitered around his room, he already checked the functions of his system. There was something called Leech Store which sells items with that point as the currency. Even though 100 points were still on the low side, it was more than enough to buy something from the store.

Shi Long was originally from the peaceful Earth, however, due to his worse than a dog shit luck, he hadn't gotten any benefits nor given a heaven-defying talent when he was transmigrated. He's trashier than trash themselves. For four years, he was already labeled as the Comatose Dragon and not the Sleeping Dragon owing to the fact that he didn't have any hopes of waking up to soar through the skies as an Awakened Dragon.

Gathering his thoughts and ultimately deciding on this choice, Shi Long used the item.

[Host has used the Eye of Destiny Peeker]

[Please endure the pain as we replace your useless eye]

'Huh? What does that mea—" Before he could finish the question in his head, a sharp and impossible to ignore pain immediately assaulted his left eye. It was as though an invisible object was drilling into it. If he could describe what he was feeling in detail, Shi Long would say that it was like a corkscrew slowly drilled into his eye. And when it fully embedded itself in, a great pulling force ensued as his eye was seemingly taken out of its socket.

"Argh!!!" Shi Long couldn't help but shout in agony from the extreme pain.

And as unlucky as he was, his pained grunts stopped Hai Tuo from his tracks. Annoyed, the haughty punk glanced back and saw Shi Long rolling on the ground while clutching his left eye.

"What the?! This little—"

Aghast at what suddenly came over the trash that he ordered to follow him, Hai Tuo reached the conclusion that the guy was acting like a moron because he didn't want to come with him.

"Oi trash! Get your ass up from the ground. Your acting is as shitty as your cultivation!" With veins popping up on his forehead, Hai Tuo once again shouted towards Shi Long.

However, his despotic shout fell on deaf ears as Shi Long's head was fully occupied by the excruciating pain of replacing his eye. 'What the hell is wrong with this system? Aren't they supposed to be instant? Is this my shitty luck working against me once more?!'

[Thank you for enduring the pain.]

[Host has successfully been transplanted a new eye, Eye of Destiny Peeker]

[By using this eye, you can now view every individual's Destiny Halo. To qualify as a Protagonist, one has to have a shiny white Halo that is 1 meter in size. The bigger the Halo, the higher the luck of the said Protagonist.]

[By leeching off from the luck of a Protagonist, become stronger and find more Protagonists to leech off to!]
