Chapter 64

The sound of guns firing synced up with my heartbeat as I clenched the wooden armrest with my sweaty palms, eyeing the closed door nervously. Icarus had gone down to welcome my father, apparently, leaving me with my psycho sis.

"I am sorry that it has to be like this." Lillian spoke up as she moved to my side.

"No worries, if you feel too much guilt, feel free to untie me." I snapped at her. Shit! I hope Hunter is not here with Vincent. I hope he is safe somewhere far from all this chaos, somewhere peaceful.

I closed my eyes, blocking out all the shouts and screams from downstairs, instead imagining the cliff where he and I stood, holding hands, staring into the boundless night sky.

Maybe if I just keep thinking of him, I could ignore all the problems and live in a dreamland.

The cocking of gun disrupted my peace. I felt the cold metal press to the side of my head, causing me to still as I sucked in a sharp breath.
