Chapter 11

[Hunter's POV]

"You failed at your only fucking job!" I shouted at Chase. That shit-faced bastard.

"She's resting, you will disturb her. Get out."

I sneered at him, "This is my house, if anyone, it's you who needs to leave."

He smiled at me, "You know I can't disobey 𝘩𝘪𝘴 direct orders."

Infuriated, I stepped closer and looked him in the eye, "Don't you dare forget who she is to me."

He tilted his head and I just wanted to punch his lights out, "It's so unfair to her, she has no idea who she is actually dealing with."

I closed my eyes in frustration and was about to put a bullet through his skull when a distressed voice interrupted.

"Get the hell out, both of you, you're giving me a headache."

Chase pushed me out of the way and rushed to her side.

"Are you okay?"

"Yes, I just need to rest." Her eyes flickered to mine, her expression stony.

Of course she fooled him. That guy is dumb as hell.

" I want to talk to you." I stated calmly.

"And I don't." She replied back curtly.

Why, this little-

I glared at Chase, well I wouldn't have been able to talk with him present anyway. I need to get rid of him first.

Should I just keep hitting him till he's unconscious?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
" I need your help."
Ash looked at me warily, "What kind of help?"
Putting my hand on his shoulder, I pulled him close, "I need you to distract Chase so I can talk to Violet without any interruptions. He is in the infirmary block of the bodyguard quarters "
He pulled away immediately, "No, ask Dylan, that guy scares me."
"Dylan doesn't have the kind of authority that you have.." I patted his chest, "...you're born into this family, you can't be scared of bodyguards. You even got muscles, right? Do it for me, okay."
Ash still got his baby face even though he has reached eighteen. He doesn't look intimidating in any way, he got delicate features from our mother, probably the reason why father never says anything to him. Chase would probably chew him up and spit him out by the time I'm done. I do feel a bit bad about manipulating him.
I actually really don't.
Glint of determination sparkled in his eyes, "Yes, I can totally do it. " He patted my shoulder, "I hope you survive your talk with her."
Yeah, man, hope the same for you.
After Ash had successfully taken Chase somewhere else, I entered the room Violet was in. A scream almost left my throat when I saw a vase being flung at me. I dodged just in time, looking at Violet with a horrified look. Her chest heaved as she angrily glared at me. My eyes momentarily dropped down before going back to her face.
Focus, I need to focus. What was I here for?
"YOU GET THE FUCK OUT!"
"Why are you angry at me?" I shouted as I swooped down to save myself from being hit by a glass. Fuck! Even when angry she looked hot as hell.
"You broke my trust!"
I walked towards her but she immediately took a step back. The feeling of hollowness widened in my chest.
My voice came out softer than expected, "What are you talking about?"
"I heard you talk to your father."
It felt like I had been punched in the gut. She wasn't supposed to find out, not like this.
My eyes pleaded for her to understand, " How much did you hear?"
"Enough to know that you freaking played me. All these years of friendship, it was just to get close me. But why?! What do I have?" Her voice held exhaustion that was visible on her face.
I cautiously stepped closer to her, "I admit there are some things I haven't told you but you have to believe me when I say nothing about our relationship was ever fake."
She let out a dry laugh, "Lies after lies after lies, and you still expect me to believe you." She sniffed, "You're probably right, because apart from you and Chase, who do I actually have?"
Something tugged at my heart, seeing her like this. It also boiled my blood that she mentioned Chase and me in the same sentence as if we're equal. That motherfucker could die in a hole.
She covered the distance between us, " Are you willing to tell me the truth now?"
"How much do you know?"
She sighed, "Well I kind of just now emotionally blackmailed Chase into telling me how much he knew about my mother.."
Like I said, dumb as hell.
"....he told me Serene was her nickname. Her family name is Jongchit Khumpai. I had no idea I'm half Thai like you. Are we related? Is that what all the secrets are about?"
She does look more like her father, can't blame her in not knowing. Wait what did she just say?!
"What? No! What the hell, Violet?! We're very obviously not related. Did I ever make you feel like we're related?" I stared at her in disbelief. I've been hitting on her for years. Was it not obvious? What am I doing wrong?
"Jeez, chill. Kind of feel like you're overreacting."
"Our mothers were friends. That's how we came to know each other."
Her fingers toyed with her ring as she asked me her next question "How did my mother die?"
I sucked in sharp breath, "There is someone else you need to ask that."
"Who?"
I remained silent, which irritated her.
"Are you seriously not going to answer?"
I ran my hand through my hair in frustration, "It's better if I take you meet him. I think it's time anyway. But first you explain this to me." I took out the revolver from my back pocket. A sly smile was beginning to form but she tried to push it down.
Clearing her throat, she spoke, "Oh you know, she tried killing me? I didn't think she'd be that crazy."
I smirked at her, "You can fool everyone but me. I have known you my whole life, it's not hard to figure out that you tricked her."
"She tricked me first. Wait, no, I don't know what you are talking about." She blatantly lied to my face.
"I know what you did, mainly because Cora kept screaming how much of a psycho you are. "
"Now you remember her name." She replied sarcastically.
"I'm sorry for keeping so many secrets from you but it wasn't my choice either."
Hurt flashed for a moment in her eyes but then it was gone ," You always had a choice, you chose to play with my trust."
All the years I had put in to gain her trust were now meaningless just because of my father. And still somehow this isn't the first thing he ruined. After telling her to get some rest, I walked out of the room.
I waited in Asher's room for him. Did Chase kill my brother? That would be tragic. I began thinking of multiple ways in which I could torture him, Suddenly a thought crossed my mind and I turned to Dylan.
"Hey Dylan, you're not in love with me, are you?"
His jaw dropped to the ground.
I nodded to myself, "Just making sure." He reminded me of that weird girl, I had to know.
"I'm not into guys and even if I was, you sure as hell are not my type." he said, grinding his teeth.
That caught my attention and I got up from the sofa. "Why? what is wrong with me?" I snapped.
"You have a gun on you right now, so I prefer not to answer that."
Well we will see how not answering helps you. I was about to pull out my gun when the door opened and Ash came in.
I raised an eyebrow at him, impressed, "Wow, you actually survived. So how did you distract him? You were gone for a while now."
He let out a sigh as if he had been holding his breath for way too long, "Just did what I'm good at."
"You annoyed the shit out of him?"
"Sure, yeah, that's exactly what I did."
I patted him on the head, "I knew I could count on you." I really had no idea he had it in him.
He muttered something under his breath.
"What?"
"Nothing, although I'm never doing you a favour again." He scowled at me.
