"My help?" Seraphina asked as she quickly turned around to face him. At the same time, she took a step back to put some much-needed space between the two of them.
"Mmhm. Help me decide my attire of the day." Kethan responded as he pulled her toward a particular section of his room hidden behind those long red silk curtains.
Once again, Seraphina was left dumbfounded when she saw the view that greeted her sight. Behind the curtains was what seemed like a walk-in closet which was filled with hundreds of clothes, shoes, wallets, watches, jewelry and what not. It almost matched her own collection from her previous life as a Mafia Queen, almost.
"Here, have a look and see what I should wear today." The man pulled her in front of his collection of clothes and took his place nearby as he waited for her to start working on the task.
Puzzled at the weird request, Seraphina turned her attention toward the man and asked, "Why do you want me to do that? I think you are pretty much capable of doing that on your own."
She watched as the man stepped closer and once again closed the distance between them. Watching him getting closer, she almost regretted asking the question. Refraining herself from taking a step back, she stood plastered on her spot.
The man stopped merely inches away from her and bent his waist to bring his face closer to hers. "That's because we are going out today and I want to wear something according to your preference."
"Going out? Where?" Seraphina asked quickly, surprised to hear about his plans.
"You ask way too many questions, Half wife. Stop thinking too much and just focus on choosing some good clothes for me. You will find out the rest in due time." Kethan told her as he made her face the collection of his clothes once again.
Not left with much of an option, Seraphina decided to do as she was told. All the while, her mind kept racing, wondering about where the man was planning to take her. Were they going somewhere in the Shadow City? She wondered as her gaze landed on a red silk shirt that reminded her of all the redness she just witnessed in the room.
Moving forward, she took out the shirt before her eyes moved toward the section of pants and trousers. It didn't take long before she picked black trousers from the collection and moved toward shoes. Within less than five minutes, she had the shirt, trousers, shoes, watch, a golden bracelet, a ring, earrings, and a wallet ready for him.
"What do you think?" She asked the man once she finished choosing. She waited patiently, but also anxiously, to hear what he thought of her choice. Something fluttered deep within her when a satisfactory smile made its way to Kethan's lips and he gave a little nod of his head in approval. "I knew you wouldn't disappoint me." He added as he accepted the shirt from her hand, his fingers lightly grazing against hers and causing soft shivers in her body.
"Go and get ready. I will pick you up from your room after half an hour." He suddenly informed her, leaving her frozen in her place for a moment or two. It was not until he arched his eyebrows high in question did she return to her senses.
"Oh. Alright." She quickly muttered the words before she literally ran out of his room and didn't stop until she was in her own room. After taking a few moments to catch her breath and thoughts, she hurriedly moved toward her closet to find something to wear for the unexpected date.
Her hands froze as she suddenly realized that she was going on a date, and that too with one of the Shadow Lords. But she quickly shook her head when she realized that she was probably thinking way too much. Maybe the man was just taking her somewhere because of work purpose. Right?
After looking through the six or seven pieces of dresses that she recieved from the Afterlife Council, she finally picked a summer dress in the color of pastel pink. Her disappointment toward her clothes was more than evident on her face. She was so mad at the clothes she recived from the Afterlife Council that she actually spent an entire hour voicing out her frustration just the day before.
It barely took her ten minutes to get ready as there wasn't much for her to do in the first place. She had no nice dresses, no makeup or skincare, no pretty heels, and no accessories. Letting out a sigh, she walked away from the mirror and headed downstairs.
Fortunately, she found Kethan in the hallway of first floor as he was exiting his room. The man looked slightly surprised to see her there and the look of disappointment that appeared in his eyes, as he took in her appearance, almost made Seraphina feel embarrassed. She was always nicely dressed and well presented in her previous life, and everytime someone looked at her, it was in awe.
As if reading her thoughts, the man quickly explained, "I'm not disappointed in you, darling. I'm disappointed in the taste of those oldies sitting in Afterlife Council. Let's go. We will get this fixed today." Saying that, he grabbed her hand, and all of a sudden, Seraphina felt herself being pulled into a whirlwind.
When the world around her returned to a standstill moments later, she found herself standing in a very familiar place - Headquarters of Afterlife Council.
