Chapter 2

Avery's pov

I ended up sleeping on the couch because I felt nauseated at the thought of sleeping on that bed.

I check the time and it's 1:30pm and I have to prepare to go to home.

I take a quick shower, and I try to lighten up but I can't. stepping out of the shower, I quickly put on a my dress, picked my handbag and left my apartment.

Who knows the reason why mother said father wants to see me, I waved down a taxi and hopped in.

The taxi driver pulled up in front of the gate.

I opened the gate and got into the house

"mum, dad, I'm home " I yelled immediately I got inside.

When I stepped into the living room there are three huge men spread around dressed fully in black and two other men sitting on the couch.

Mum and dad walks into the living

" mum, dad, who are these people?" I ask

" Avery you have to sit for me to tell you why I called you to come home" my father replied.

"Okay" I say as I sat down on the couch.

" I have arranged a wedding proposal for you" he said

I blinked at my mom and dad and they both reflected my action.

My brain began to process what my father said.

I laughed so hard.Ha ha ha so funny dad I rolled on the floor ignoring the people starting at me.

"What is wrong with you aAvery?" "Are you okay?" my mother's worried face made me stop a little

"This is a joke right?" l ask staring at the both of them.

"Oh no they look serious" I thought to myself.

"MOM, DAD, what do you mean you arranged a marriage proposal for me?" I yelled.

"You are 22 years old baby. you have to get married". my mothers words made me dodge her hands from my shoulder

"This…is crazy" I said shaking my head

You can't force me to marry some I don't know, it doesn't make any sense.

" you are still immature, we are making this decision for you, it's for your own good" my father said.

His words made me upset I can't believe they want me to get married to someone I don't know.

"who is this person you both want me to get married to?" I ask while looking at them.

"My friend's son, you can take your time, is it a bad thing for a father wishing to see his child get married and having children." My father said in a sad voice

Oh..no, I know what he us trying to do, he's trying to weaken my resolve.

"Avery don't let him get in your head!"

"You'll be meeting him tomorrow" my father said.

Not answering him I walked out the house

" I can't believe I don't have a right to make a choice of my own. This is the 21st century Goddamit" I cursed.

Parents are not supposed to make this kind of choices for their children, I am 22 years old.

Now I have to spend the rest if my life married to someone I don't know.

I saw Ella's name in my caller id

Ignoring it, I decided to take a walk around town to clear my head.

Shringgg I look at my phone, oh well is calling again.

I decided to pick up this time.

"Hey Ella" I said.

"Hi Avery, how are you and how's mom and dad?"

"Mom and dad have definitely gone crazy" I told her

"What do you mean Avery" She asked worriedly

"They arranged a marriage proposal, can you believe that?" I rant to her

She started laughing.

"do you think this is funny?" I asked her.

" uhm…i'm sorry for laughing sis, I couldn't help myself. She said, still in a fit of laughter.

" because you are not the one in my situation, that's why you think it's funny" I replied.

"I'm sorry, Avery. You know I didn't mean it." she said.

"it's fine sis" I replied.

" And I will be meeting him tomorrow " I sighed.

" I hope he's hot, it will make up for the whole arranged marriage" she said while laughing.

"I meeting him to tomorrow, I didn't say I'm agreeing to the proposal" I replied.

"I thought you did? So what's your answer?" she asked composing herself.

"I left," I said getting annoyed at myself for not giving a strong reply to my father.

"you don't want to go against your dad" she answers my untold thought.

"This time I'm not going to give in, I can't get married to some I don't know Ella" I said as I burst into tears.

"you know whatever happens that father lives you, even if this might not make sense at the moment, he did this for you" she said

" Are you happy about this marriage thing Ella? Because I think you are" I dead panned

"No I'm not, ok maybe I am" she said while laughing.

"you are crazy ella" I said furiously.

I take a deep breathe deciding not get mad at Ella.

" how is your husband dave and the kids?" I asked her."

"They are fine, Dave is at work while Jacob and Jane are playing inside" she replied.

" say I hi to them for me please" I told her

"okay, I have something to do, bye Aver, think about what dad said" she said as she hung up.

Should I just give in and get married?

Avery Kingston, don't be ridiculous, you are not getting married to a stranger!

On my way back home, I was deep in thought.

How do I go against my parent? How do I stop this wedding from happening?

Only way to find out is when I see him tomorrow, who knows he might be against it too and we will work together to stop the marriage from happening.

God this is crazy!!!

I think I need to rest, I've done too much thinking for one day.
