"CLANG" the sound of the cargo truck back door rolled up as two men armed with a short sword, each at their waist, stepped to the side of the truck.
"They don't have guns?" Donovan was confused by the weapons found on the men.
"Guns are traceable to buyers, and since they're legal in the US, there isn't much of a black market for them," Cristal answered, moving over to peek into the warehouse.
Ivanka stood at the edge of the safety rail. "They started moving," she said, seeing the men move inside of the warehouse as Joseph and the rest started moving around the area.
——————————————————————
Joseph still didn't use his gun and pulled out his dagger as they all moved in silently.
"Right on time!" Joseph heard the voice of the man that he'd fought on the beach yesterday.
"Here are all the shipments for today," the blonde man with a Hawaiian t-shirt continued, handing one of the men a list of all the cargo names.
The blonde man walked back to help the others roll out the cages to load them onto the back of the truck.
They got a good look at what kind of cargo was transporting when they reached outside.
They were demi-humans that shared features primarily of humans but also a mix of animals.
They took a moment and noticed that their hands were full, pushing the small cages that they moved in.
Joseph swiftly ignored the two other men closest to him and rushed to the blonde-haired man.
He blocked Joseph's dagger with one of his brass knuckles that he quickly pulled out of his pocket.
But his attack didn't stop there. The blade slipped off with such force that tiny sparks formed as it did.
He dove in, towards his face and neck, only to notice a swing from his left coming straight towards him.
Joseph used his free hand to punch up the elbow as he slightly ducked under it and tackled the blonde man to the floor.
Joseph tried grabbing his Hawaiian shirt before punching him but was kicked off and slammed into one of the cages, scaring the hostage inside.
When he looked back up, the man was already standing with his hand in his back pocket.
"Click." Joseph heard the sound of a small button as the man made eye contact with him and smiled.
What was that sound? Joseph thought as he saw the man equip his brass knuckles.
Is it just them three here? He heard the sound of the others fighting the two he'd passed.
Where is that teleporter?
As he was stuck thinking, he felt a push from behind, and in the next instant, the teleporter appeared right in front of him, squaring him right in the face.
Am I on my back? He thought, opening his eyes to see the ceiling of the warehouse.
"Get up," he heard a different voice say as footsteps approached him.
He saw that it was the teleporter slowly walking up to him.
He suddenly teleported away right before a wind slash cut through where he was previously standing.
Another air attack came at him as he teleported away again, but the spot he teleported to was an ambush.
Ivanka had predicted his movement and hit him with a punch of wind.
At the same time, Cristal ran past Joseph and began fighting the blonde man hand to hand.
Joseph was shocked by how they just showed up out of nowhere. Then he felt a wave of heat rush to him from his right.
When he turned, he saw Markus standing far away, popping the tires of some of the vehicles approaching, with Donovan battling a group of men with swords and knives.
Where the hell are these people coming from? Joseph thought as he looked at the ground near the blonde man's feet.
There on the ground was a responder with a red light on it, slowly flashing every second.
——————————————————————
It felt like I was walking forever.
The darkness filled my eyes, and it felt like even though I was in a forest, the trees weren't even there.
I was surprised to not even run into any of them as I picked up my pace.
I was running at this point, still hearing the grass rustling below me, hours upon end of just moving.
It felt like I could give up at any moment with each step I took, but it was at a certain moment when I saw a small light in the distance.
From my perspective, it looked like I was running in a tunnel of darkness, and the light was an opening that was slowly getting bigger and bigger.
The light was blinding as I approached, and when I got right up to it, it was a white wall, almost like it was the start of another world.
I heard the sound of flowing wind as the light filled my eyes, not the same white light but this time from the sun.
I quickly closed my eyes, hearing cars rush past me.
I was in the middle of a storage section surrounded by a bunch of warehouses of all colors.
Another black car, a five-seater, lagged behind the rest as I saw the driver dressed in a suit.
I followed the car without a second thought. Even though I'd just gotten back from that...
Nevermind.
I trailed behind the car, slowly losing it before it came to a sudden stop as I was hit with a wave of heat coming from behind a delivery truck, causing me to hide behind a wall.
"A bit of help here!" I heard a familiar voice, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
I peeked around the wall to see a group of people fighting, and among them were Athena's team, Joseph, and the 4 A-rank reserves.
I checked my dagger, ready to join the fight, realizing that I never had it in the first place.
The only thing I found in my pocket was the necklace I'd gotten from the other portal.
I swiftly snuck up behind one of the men that had gotten out of the lagging car and smashed his head against the car door when he tried to run off.
The others that had gotten out turned to me and were shocked by what I was wearing that they stood in place, short swords out, with two of them turning to see the other's head slide off the car.
"UH," I thought of what to say as we all stood frozen. "Who's next," I confidently blurted out.
I didn't notice at the time, but following the car made me feel exhausted, and I was running on the adrenaline that shot through me when the car suddenly stopped.
I'd picked up the short sword before the other man got to me. Luckily the car made it so they came at me one by one since I wouldn't have been able to take the three of them down.
After a swift takedown on all three by freezing time for a second each, I rushed past them to see the battleground ahead of me, filled with men in suits, reminiscent of mafia men all fighting with bladed weapons, not guns which I found surprising.
"BANG," as soon as that thought left my head, a gunshot rang out, but it seemed that only I was able to look at it as everyone else focused on the person they were fighting.
I rushed over to Joseph while dodging and avoiding other battles that were in the way.
But not before someone's body tackled me out of nowhere, as if they suddenly teleported in my path.
I fell to the ground as the person who body-slammed me followed me to it.
Frantic to turn around, I tried to push the man off, who was breathing heavily like he'd just finished a 100-yard dash.
The sound of wind cut towards us while still pinned under him from the attack, and before he teleported again, I saw who it was he was running from.
It almost looked like a certain woman rapidly descending from the sky towards us.
——————————————————————
Ivanka's eyes widened when she saw a supposed dead man's face, only for it to disappear along with the other man she was chasing around.
She stopped before reaching the ground, almost desperately looking around to track where he went next but had no hope as now they were out of view.
Is he able to teleport great distances like Blaze? She thought before rushing over to see if Cristal needed help.
——————————————————————
The face that descended towards me disappeared in a flash before I was pushed and almost stumbled to the floor.
The frantic pressing of my foot to the pavement let out a tapping sound before I was able to see who pushed me.
I turned to see a black-haired man standing around 2 meters away with his head somewhat down.
His breathing was erratic, so if we had to fight, I had the advantage.
"Who, who are you," His arms hung to the side, leaving him wide open.
I was guessing that he didn't attack me due to what I was wearing.
Maybe I gave him the idea that I was dressing up early for Halloween.
"Shouldn't you Identify yourself before asking that?" I responded while I kept my eyes on his movement.
I could still hear them fighting, meaning that we weren't that far away.
But still, we couldn't be seen by anyone right now, or I'm sure Ivanka would have been here already.
"I see," He raised his fists to fight, "I guess you saw all that commotion back there, and I've never seen you within our ranks, so that makes things clear."
