Project Monster

For most people when they’re little, they are always so afraid of a monster hiding underneath their bed or lurking inside their closet. But that’s just because of naivety. Since why would a monster even need to hide from its prey? Daily life in the country of Fokus is odd for an average citizen like Razor Smirnov. He struggles to find a job, tries to make it through life in the city, and has to worry about when the next monster will randomly appear and cause havoc in the city. Though unlike most people, Razor is given the chance to fight back against the monsters; as a monster killer. Though is this opportunity a blessing or a curse?

Inbetweener 1: From One Headache To Another

Author's Note: Hey I hope you've all enjoyed the first volume/four chapters of this series! I have a lot of ideas for this story and I really hope you decide to stick around and read them. If you want certain story aspects to be explored more, have questions regarding the series, or if you just want to recommend me other stories on here then please comment below to let me know!

Now then, as you may have noticed this chapter has the name of "Inbetweener". So you might be wondering what that means. To answer your question, an Inbetweener chapter is one that occurs after a storyline reaches its conclusion. They're used to either bridge the gap to the next storyline, provide a bit of world building, or just be for goofs/laughs.

Hope you enjoy!

The sun is shining down brightly in Rising Heights' very own Gilgamesh Park. Birds are chirping in the trees, insects are cricketing in the weeds, and a man is running down a gravel trail alongside his dog.

He's a 28-year-old by the name of Frank Walker, he's got short brown hair, green eyes, and white skin. He's got a gold chain on his neck, an all-black tracksuit on, white cleats, and is holding his dog's red leash. The dog's name is Commodore, and it's an enthusiastic border collie who's running alongside Walker.

The two begin to come to a stop, kicking up some dust and gravel when doing so, before walking over to a wooden park bench overlooking a lake. Frank Walker & his dog Commodore sit down as they look out onto the glistening water. Watching the fish frolicking through it without a care in the world, light reflecting off the clear and crisp water, and a cool summer breeze blowing past them.

Frank Walker takes out a water bottle and a dog bowl, he pours half of the water into the bowl so Commodore can drink it while he finishes the bottle.

"Y'know when I was a kid, my dad took me fishing here once," Frank Walker explains while he watches a carp swim through the lake, "I never did manage to catch anything, but you wanna know what he always told me? It didn't matter, because the experience was more than enough."

Frank Walker then turns to look behind him at an individual who is looming behind him, "I take it you're the one who wanted to meet with me here?"

However, to Walker's shock, he finds that the man standing there is his superior, Nikita Agapov. Nikita is wearing a short-sleeved cyan button-up, black dress pants with a brown belt, and black dress shoes.

"Mister Agapov?!" Frank Walker shouts in shock.

"What, you think it was gonna be Colonel Chanul or somebody?" Nikita teases.

Frank Walker immediately stands up and salutes Nikita, though Nikita waves his hands, "Settle down Major, I'm just here to let you in on some news."

"Oh, Okay," Walker says as he sits back down on the bench,

Nikita walks over to him and sits down on the bench. As he sits down, Commodore walks over to him and receives several head pats from the man.

"So I'm sure you're well aware of your former Colonel, Maksim Abdulov, sudden termination?" Nikita asks.

"Yeah, that happened last night," Walker replies.

"Yeah well as you know in this country the role of a Colonel is a very important one. While generals take care of a whole region, colonels get to maintain smaller districts and cities of said region," Nikita explains, "So having a city without a Colonel can be… quite problematic, don't you agree?"

"Indeed, hopefully, you find a new colonel soon," Frank Walker replies.

"Oh, we already have," Nikita answers.

"Really? Who is it?"

Nikita looks at Frank Walker knowingly.

Frank Walker looks at Nikita confused.

Nikita looks at Frank Walker knowingly.

Frank Walker finally catches on, "You're kidding me."

"Nope!" Nikita says as he stands up, "You start today, come by the office to pick up your new uniform and badge. Oh and also…"

Nikita reaches into his pocket and hands out a file before saying, "You got yourself a new recruit, you might want to read their file."

Frank takes it and Nikita walks away. As Frank Walker reads the file on the person named 'Razor Smirnov' he can't help but sigh and state, "This dude is gonna be one massive headache."

Commodore nods in agreement.
