Chapter 3: Unseen Dangers

As I went back to my present self and started to focus on my task, I stumbled upon what it seems to be a phone on the ground. As I look closer, the phone has huge cracks on its screen, suggesting that it's no longer available to use, especially that the phone was laying on a small pool of water. As I look around, I noticed there are footprints like, a lot of footprints. The size of the footprints were vary and they were heading into one direction, northeast of my position. I decided to report this to Eagle-Eye. This is more serious than I thought.

"Eagle-Eye, this is Firefox reporting, over." I said with a very concerning voice.

"This is Eagle-Eye, what's the status? Over." Eagle Eye replied with relatively cold tone.

"I believe I've reached the area where the distressed caller were last seen in the GPS and I saw a phone laying on the ground with broken screen. There's also a lot of foot prints that are vary in size, Maybe around 8 or more people, leading to the northeast of my position, over." I replied.

"Copy. I advised you stay there and wait for the other officers to arrive, over." Eagle-Eye replied.

"Negative Eagle-Eye, who ever called the emergency hotline must be in danger. From what I can tell from these footprints and their distance from one another, it looks like there's a chase going on here and possibly the person called our hotline number to ask for help but only to accidentally dropped the phone on the ground, causing the phone to get stepped on by whoever these people chasing after them, over." I replied as I'm starting to feel worried towards the distressed caller.

"No shit, sher- (coughs) I already considered that scenario, Firefox. But, we can't have you getting into a very dangerous situation with only little information about the situation there in the woods. That's why I need you to stay there and wait for the backup to arrive so that we can handle this situation without risking any officer in the field, over." Eagle-Eye replied with cold but frustrated tone.

"Negative Eagle-Eye. By the time other officers arrived, we're already too late. That's why I have to follow the footprints and make sure that they're safe, over." I replied with worryingly tone.

"Firefox, Listen to me. I know we've been working together for almost 5 years in the police department and from all the case that we handle, I've never been feeling so anxious as this one and usually, my gut feeling is always right so please, stay where you are and wait for the backup to arrive, over." Eagle-Eye said with cold but concerning tone.

"You know me Eagle-Eye, I can't stand here and waiting, knowing that someone is in danger somewhere in the woods. And even though I knew that I could trust your gut feeling, you know I always find ways to get out of sticky situations well and alive, remember? Don't worry Eagle-Eye, I'll be back with the person safe and sound before you know it, over." I replied with assuring tone.

"FIREFOX WAI-!" I turned off my radio before she could finish her words.

"Well, let's get this person out of the woods and once I'm back to the station, I'll remind her that I didn't won the 'Best Cop of the Year' award with no reason!" I said enthusiastically.

So, I decided to follow the trail of the footprints with cautious. Besides, no one wants to wait their buddies for hours under a heavy rain, right?
