Rain Clan

Leon put the book down and reached over to grab the second book, "The Rise of the Rain clan", but stopped when he heard a knock on the door. It was only then that he noticed the passage of time and his growing hunger. He got up from his desk and tidied up his clothes before he made his way over to the door. Behind the door was the familiar face of his servant who had stood guard outside all the while he had been lost in his reading.

"Seventh Young Master, it is now time for dinner, would you like to eat in the dining room or have your food brought over to your room instead?"

Leon had to think for a moment on which of the two options would be the more beneficial choice for him. Should he go see his family and familiarize himself with those who held the authority in the Clan? He might even be able to glean some information from any conversations discussed during dinner. He dismissed the thought deeming it to be too much of a risk. He still lacked any insight into his own direct family that there would be too many ways that he could end up causing a ruckus or reveal his lack of information.

He also lacked the etiquette of this world, it would be bad if he were to attract attention if he started to make mistakes while eating. What if the family was so strict that they sent him to the disciplinary hall for such a small mistake? Currently, any interaction with his family should be kept to a minimum. Plus, if he were to go off of how his brother acted earlier, then he probably won't be very welcomed anyway.

"Have the food brought up to my room, after that I will continue to read."

He decided it would be best for him to finish the books before doing anything else. The older servant turned around and it was then that Leon noticed that there had been another person standing outside his door. The person left in a hurry, must've been another servant afraid of Leon, and headed towards what Leon guessed was the kitchen. Leon stood at the door for a second before making his way over towards his desk and cleared a spot to eat at.

A few minutes later Leon could hear what he guessed to be a cart being pushed towards his room. He watched from his seat as indeed a cart was being pushed into his room by his own servant rather than the one he had seen before. Leon tossed aside his confusion as he looked at the dishes being wheeled over. He felt his mouth salivate as he looked at the delicacies before him.

There were several different dishes including steak, steamed vegetables, and some type of fish that he couldn't identify. The dishes were moved onto his desk before the cart was wheeled back out of his room while the door was closed upon exit. He then went on to have the best meal of his life. He felt extremely refreshed after he finished everything before him.

A few minutes later all of the plates had been cleaned up and Leon was ready to continue on with his reading. Leon picked up the second book and time continued to pass. Two days later Leon had finally finished reading the other three books. He had gotten into a routine of washing up, getting dressed by servants, reading, eating, and sleeping. His days had been pretty stale as no new experiences had happened over the two days.

Leon barely left the room as all of his meals were had in his room, leaving only to take his baths. Over the two days he hadn't encountered any more members of the clan, his only encounters had been with the different servants wandering around. He had also been left to his own devices by the system, having very little contact with it over the two days. Leon would have thought that the Clan didn't have many members if he hadn't read those books.

Speaking of books, Leon truly couldn't call those days boring as the content of the books had kept him fully entertained. "The Rise of the Rain Clan" had mostly been about how the clan had improved upon its foundation and became a true powerhouse within Phoenix Cry City. The Clan had put a tremendous focus upon both the business and cultivation aspects of the Clan. The clan now has its own cultivation heritage that gave rise to more and more cultivators with the Clan, allowing the clan to have its own unique strengths.

The Clan members usually split into either those who focus upon the businesses or their own cultivation. While the second book brought this subject up, it was the third book "The Structure of the Rain Clan" that went into more detail about it. "The Influence of the Rain Clan" was the book that explained more about the business side of the Rain Clan.

Leon was surprised to learn that the clan was one of the top powers in Phoenix Cry City, with only three other forces that could match it. It seemed Leon had been born with a pretty solid background going for him. The more unbelievable information was that the Rain Clan was the richest power in the city. A majority of the popular businesses in the city have some sort of relation to the Clan, even if it is not owned by them.

The clan was currently in a stable period with neither any improvement nor decline. The only thing of note in the current times was that the clan was trying to spread its businesses into other cities, but as mentioned before there seemed to be a lack of any success in this matter. He had also learned a little about the other three major forces within Phoenix Cry City while he had been reading.

While it was said that most types of business were being dominated by the Rain Clan, there were two particular businesses that they could not gain control over. That's because they were under the dominion of the only two clans that could compete with the Rain Clan.

The first of the two was the Bell Clan which had its hands in cultivating something called spiritual herbs. It was briefly mentioned how these spiritual herbs were used by alchemists, allowing the clan to have a strong connection to something called the alchemist guild.

The second Clan was the Park Clan, which seemed to be focused upon some type of animal rearing business. Leon was sure he lacked some type of information as the book kept mentioning something called spirit beasts. From what the book was saying the Park Clan was a clan of beast tamers. Their business included selling live spirit beasts, spirit beast byproducts, and spirit beast materials including spirit beast meat to different restaurants around Phoenix Cry City.

The Rain Clan also had businesses that competed with the two Clans in these different fields, but it seemed like there was no comparison. The only reason why the Rain Clan still ventured into these fields was due to both how profitable they were and also the stubborn pride of the Clan. Each of the Clans also have their own cultivation methods, martial techniques, and heritage but it was hard to say which of the three Clans trumped the others in this regard.

The only other force in Phoenix Cry City that could compare to the three Clans was a sect called the Penta Flame Sect. From what Leon could gather from the different books, a sect was some kind of organization where people can join and be taught how to cultivate. When it came to martial prowess the sect was actually above the three clans, but there was pretty much no business side to speak of tied to the sect.

Even if the Penta Flame Sect was stronger than the three Clans, it was said that a large portion of their core disciples were members from the three Clans. The Sect segregated its disciples by giving them the rank of Outer, Inner, and Core. It could also be assumed that this was how most Sects ranked their disciples.

There seemed to be another rank called Elder, but the ranking when compared to the disciples was pretty complicated as it was also separated by Outer, Inner, and Core. There were even mentions of how a disciple could have more authority than an Elder. Each of the Clans also had members that held the ranks of Elders; however, the book didn't go into detail about both the number of Elders and their ranks in the sect. It seemed that this was one of the core strengths of the Clan.

Besides those equal to the Rain Clan there were also Clans and Sects that were below them. Usually any business that didn't belong to the Three Major clans was owned by one of these Clans. The Founder of the Rain Clan had actually married someone from such a Clan. Although the Clan would later be absorbed into the Rain Clan along with other such powers that the Founder had made marriage alliances with. It was hard to say if the Clans had been screwed over by the Founder or profited in the end.

While the Penta Flame Sect was the strongest Sect in the city, it also had a strict requirement to the talent of those who were accepted. Those who were rejected by the Penta Flame Sect but still had some type of talent would usually end up joining these smaller Sects.

While there were no other powers besides those three in Phoenix Cry City that could compare to the Rain Clan there was one that was above it, the local Government of Phoenix Cry City.
