1 Chapter 1

The beautiful blonde haired girl sat under the shade of the sycamore trees, contemplating. Why was it that people always looked at her with envy over her life. It was always, "Lucy you're so lucky! Your parents are both so rich and hardworking!" But they never realised that her life was truly miserable. If she was being honest, the only person that she could talk to was her German Shepherd, Mort. He was her best friend for five years now. Lucy had found him outside one of the restaurants that her parents took her, Jack and Chloe to. Not because they wanted to spend time as a family, but because they had to keep up the appearance of being a picture perfect family. She had begged her parents to let her keep him and eventually they relented.

Back in present time, she was watching the light summer raindrops slip through the leaves of the trees, gracefully as ballerinas. Yet she couldn't help but feel that they were trapped, just like her. They were always in the exact same cycle, always moving around. Well at least they got away from their families once in a while. But Lucy was trapped in her family, heir to the Jones Corp. and being forced to get engaged to strengthen the business. There was no way out other than to run away. That was actually something that she had been planning for a while now, actually, but she hadn't saved up enough money yet to be able to go abroad so that she could hide completely.

She also thought about her little brother and sister. They were twins and they were only seven this year. They still needed her to help them. Who else would when she was gone though? When you were from that family you had to be careful who you trusted. Most people would only be friends with you because you had a strong background. Lucy had been old enough to know this when she had started at that school and had specifically asked the teacher not to reveal her surname to the class to avoid this. However no one had made such effort for the twins and so they just thought that their class was full of really nice people because they were so young and naive. Right now they were playing so beautifully with the servant children that she almost couldn't bear to tell them that it was time to come in for supper and to stop their playful interactions. But even with the servants you couldn't be too sure that they are just using you to improve their status in life. After all if one of their sons or daughters grew up to marry one of the young misses or young master of the Jones family they would instantly become rich beyond their wildest dreams. She knows this for a fact because of one boy that was called Matt.
