The Festival Ball

   The days passed quickly, today is the full moon, and the last day of the Festival. I seldom sleep in our dorm room, since I started training with my aunt, Freda told me that Flynn is keep on looking at their table during every meal, maybe hoping that I will be with them.

I told my aunt that I will not come back for the night since I will change my clothes at my dorm room so that Freda and I can help each other with our hair and make up, it is more realistic to do it in human old fashion way, than do all the works using magic.

   "See you later at the Festival Ball Malia, and have fun." She said and hugged me before I fly away from her cozy cottage.

Classes are still suspended to give students ample time to prepare for the ball, it is still early in the morning when I arrived at our dorm room, Freda has been already wide awake, and she is soaking her feet in the basin with lukewarm water, she is preparing herself for a foot spa.

"I thought you would be no show again." She said looking surprised that I arrived so early.

"I don't want to miss this chance to be with my best friend, we have been talking about prom, since first year high school, this is equivalent to prom right?" I smiled at her sheepishly.

"Yes! But it is more exciting than prom, two souls will be united tonight, true love will prevail once again." Freda is in a good mood too, and looks so thrilled about the upcoming ball.

"Yes, but it could be so tragic you know, I just hope it will be both from royal families, or both commoners, no offense Freda but it is reality."

"Don't worry Malia, I will not be executed tonight, Hale is madly in love with you." She said looking composed, but I know she is hurting inside, we both fell silent, I don't know what to say to her I am not good with words, my heart is also wounded like hers.

She asked me to soak my feet in the basin, at the same time she put a face mask on my face, Freda manicured my fingernails, while singing her favorite Taylor Swift songs, I miss the mortal world again.

Lunchtime came, Hale and Nick arrived, bringing hot lunch. They looked both so grand with their new haircut, we eat without talking, then after we finished eating they say goodbye and promised to pick up me and Freda on time.

   Freda is a makeup artist and hair stylist at the same time, she put eye shadow, eyeliner, then mascara, she completed the routine by putting true red lipstick with brown undertone, then she coated over the top of my lips with clear lip gloss. She made big curls out of my straight, shiny hair. My makeup is simple yet it made my natural beauty turned to be more enthralling.

   She looks impressive herself, her makeup looks natural, yet her beauty can be classified as a member of the royal family. The long royal blue tulle ball gown I conjured, has flower top embroidery, the gown has a sweetheart bodice with one shoulder strap with side high split skirt, I love the simplicity of the dress and the comfort that I felt, I didn't replace my mom's necklace on my neck, I simply put leaf designed white gold ear climber earrings on my ears.

   Freda is wearing a lavender organza flared gown with gem embroidery at the hem of the skirt. We both look pleased with our total appearance, our date appeared on our doorstep thirty minutes before the start of the proper program. They both look gorgeous as always, their suits complimented with their inborn dazzling beauty.

I am holding Nick's arm when we entered the ballroom, the hall is so grand and majestic, it looks like we are in a five-star hotel ballroom, as usual the decorations are superb. Fairies are talented with a bit of magic, any place would turn into a fancy venue, fresh flowers are everywhere, this is one thing I love in fairy land, the fragrance of sweet flowers.

The party started with opening remarks of our beloved Headmaster Amos, then the food is served, the cuisines are great, while I get confused with the different wines offered by the waiters and waitresses. Students started to dance on the dance floor, everyone is having fun, except me, seeing Flynn and Avery talking closely with each other made my heart ache every second.

   She is using all her flirting techniques just to be with him, I don't have any right to be angry with them, I should accept the reality that Flynn is not the man for me.

   The romantic music in the background is depressing me, then I saw aunt Thalia, wearing her simple white gown. She is drifting above us near the high ceiling of the ballroom, when her eyes met mine, she gives me her lovely smile.

"Dance with Nick Malia, enjoy the rest of the ball, this is in my honor, I would like to see my beautiful niece to have a happy evening." She said in my mind.

   "Okay aunt Thalia, I am sorry I just can't help myself from hurting." I replied to her.

   "I know, dear, but believe me, your heart will rejoice soon, you will be happy my dear. Just have fun with your friends, and be extra careful always, whatever happens tonight follow your instinct, always remember you are the most powerful fairy of all time." Aunt Thalia said, then she come to the stage near Headmaster Amos. I can see my aunt's face blush again, just looking at the Headmaster. I have forgotten to ask her, about her love story.

    "Aunt Thalia, can't you dance with the Headmaster? I mean you can ask him you know, just conceal yourselves, I think he is also in love with you, even without seeing your face. Just let him feel and touch you, it is also time to give yourselves a chance to be happy." I talked to my aunt through her mind, I can see her forehead wrinkled upon hearing the words I said.

    "What are you talking about child? You don't have any idea what you are babbling about." She said, then she looked in the direction of the Headmaster.

    "Common aunt Thalia, there is no harm in trying, just let him see you, I promise you this is the happiest night of your life." I encouraged her, I know it is not against the law, if she will reveal herself to the Headmaster, it is her choice. I am not sure if she can date, though, I just can feel it that the Headmaster is longing to see my aunt too.

    "Don't be silly Malia." She said, then smiled at me.

    "You can't hide it from me aunt Thalia, I know you have been in love with him for a long time, I just want you to be happy too, this is your moment, this celebration is all about you, for how many years, you have celebrated this Festival in your honor. Aunt Thalia, I think the nature wants their Goddess to be happy too." I said, looking at her seriously, I can see my aunt is having a second thought.

"Maybe next time Malia, not now, this is your night Malia, promise we will talk about this, I will tell you everything." She said, I know my aunt is trying to hide her real feelings at the moment. She is doing her best to look joyful.

"Okay aunt Thalia, I am sorry for meddling in your personal affair, I know I don't have any right to talk about it." I said.

"I know your intentions Malia, you just want me to be happy, we are family after all, dance with your friends Malia, enjoy the night, I will just be around." She said, I can feel her strong energy, making me feel at peace.

   I followed my aunt's advice and for the first time, I dance without thinking what others might think about me. I just let myself enjoy the night, I can't help myself, but smile, when I see Professor Wilson and Professor Barbara dancing on the dance floor, they look so cute together, by the way they are gazing into one another, it is undeniable that they are dating each other, I am happy that at least love still work out for others.

    The four of us danced until my feet hurt, until now I am still not use of wearing high heels, I still love my sneakers more than any shoes. Then my mood is ruined every time my nemeses dance in front of us, then I feel my world tumbled down the moment I saw Flynn kissing Avery again on the lips, they are kissing passionately, my whole body became frozen on the ground, this is the second time I have seen him kiss Princess Avery.

    Avery looked at me with a triumphant smile in her face, then she put her head on Prince Flynn's chest, then they are dancing, slowly together, while Flynn is stroking her hair, this is the first time I saw him like he loves what he is doing with Avery.

   They really planned everything perfectly just to hurt me, I can't take it anymore, my tears gushed out from my eyes, flowing on my cheeks like waterfalls, I ran towards the exit of the ballroom. The hallways are empty, since everybody is having a good time, I seated on the hallway's carpeted floor, I am in so much pain, I put my head on my bent knees crying loudly, I can still hear the music coming from the ballroom, but I don't care anymore, I just want to be alone.
