Foreign themed contest (part-3)

"You say if you could fly, you would never come back

You aimed for that blue, blue sky

You've yet to remember "sadness"

Just now began to grasp "pain"

Even the feelings I held onto for you

Are just now changing into words

As you awaken from the dream of an unknown world

Spread your wings and take off

You say if you could fly, you would never come back

You aimed for those white, white clouds

If you breakthrough, you know you'll find it

So try until you break free to that blue, blue sky

That blue, blue sky

That blue, blue sky

Jun ended with a high note while being immersed in the singing. When he finished the song and looked at the fellow contestants, he saw every single one of them was seen standing on their feet, including Jung Jinwoo and Seung-gi.

A smile appeared on his face as he bowed, "thank you."

"Whoo…" A loud cheering escaped from other contestants followed by a huge round of applause. Meanwhile, the number 41 appeared on the screen. That means it was a unanimous decision from all the contestants.

"Hyung is amazing as always." Daniel let out a satisfactory smile as Jun lived up to his expectations.

"Damn, this guy. I'm really envious of his voice." Shonwu controlled his expression but he couldn't help but overwhelm by Jun's bare vocals. 8.5 points is something only top-level singers possess. So, it was no wonder that he was feeling that way.

"His voice sounds like auto-tune." Winter thought to herself.

"Senior is really good at vocals. I wonder why he even bothered to pick a hip-hop song. Maybe, he was too bored without any proper challenger?" Chaeyoung thought as she glanced at him.

"As expected, no one could defeat Jun-Hyung," Yeongue mumbled to himself while clapping along with the others.

"I didn't expect Jun can sing Japanese." Yuju was a little surprised. For some reason, she felt a little bit cheated. They were being such good friends lately, although most of their conversations during the past month were just through messenger. Still, they shared little things about personal life. Knowing Japanese is not a small deal. And seeing how fluently he sang, she knows for sure that he can speak a little Japanese.

"If I had known that he's in mixed duo, I would have volunteered. It would have been a good performance." NC.A regretted a little bit that she lost an opportunity to perform with Jun. Of course, in terms of vocal prowess, she believed that she wasn't any lesser than him. So, she was confident that their combined performance would look perfect instead of her voice getting dominated.

Even Seung-gi couldn't help but comment while announcing the results, "well, it looks like there's no surprise here. Anyway, the winner of the foreign-themed contest is Han Sung-Jun. Congratulations, you earned a 50 bonus score. The runner-up is Jung Jinwoo. You earned a 20 bonus score. And the third place goes to Kang Euigeon. You earned a 10 bonus score. Congratulations to all the winners."

Jun was naturally happy with winning extra bonus points. Now, he should only focus on earning those remaining 25 bonus points.

But, little did he know, this performance increased his popularity among the female contestants even further, resulting in causing a headache to Yuju, who received two more requests about his phone number. Including the ones that got eliminated, Jun's phone number was shared with more than twelve of her friends.

Who knows how it will impact the future but for now, he was enjoying this moment of success. But, it was only for like 30 minutes.

By the time he returned to the dorm, it was already 5 o'clock. He thought Chaeyoung will ditch the practice. So, he can use the training room for his solo performance.

He first left for the GYM to blow off the steam and calm down himself from the excitement.

He ran on the treadmill for only like 15 minutes, then, lifted the weights for another ten minutes before taking a shower and left for the Central block while Jongho surprisingly is busy in the kitchen and Daniel is stuck to the television. The remaining two went to sleep as their practice is during the night.

In this situation, Shonwu and Vernon were lucky in a way. While the others had their practice session disturbed by the contest, theirs remain the same. Not even their sleeping schedule was disturbed a bit.

Jun went to the top floor of Central Block to practice the drums. However, to his surprise, he heard the music as soon as he opened the door, located at the end of the staircase.

"Is Chaeyoung, here?" He was taken aback a bit and walked forward and took right to enter the training room.

JYP was nowhere to be seen but Chaeyoung was practicing choreography of Redwings group's Happiness.

Redwings group is Red Velvet's counterpart of this world. However, instead of Joy, Solar debuted with the rest while the former debuted with Dahyun in the Sparkle group. The group was managed by ZC Entertainment. In a way, they are his ex-colleagues.

"Isn't Chaeyoung, a rapper? Why was she practicing dance, instead?" He wondered as he stepped inside.

He waited until the end of the song and then, called out her name. "Chaeyoung-ssi."

She turned towards the source of the voice in surprise, "SungJun-ssi, I thought you will be resting."

It only took 2 days for Jun and Chaeyoung to finish the practice. In JYP's opinion, they only needed to rehearse a few times and take it easy. So, she thought he would take the break.

Jun pointed to the music instruments, "Just here to practice the drums but I guess we can't practice on our own since it will disturb each other. How about we divide the time? You can continue the practice until 7. After that, I will practice on my own."

Chaeyoung thought for a bit and felt like Jun was acting nice as she was getting more time. Nevertheless, she agreed to it and went on with her practice.

Meanwhile, Jun sat in a corner and is polishing his rapping skills even more by repeatedly practicing their upcoming song.

"He's staying?" Chaeyoung thought that Jun will go back and return at 7 o'clock but as he was staying there, she was a little bit embarrassed while she practiced her dance performance, which has a lot of cute elements in it.

Without JYP or any mentor, just staying in the same space of a young man and that too alone, her heartbeat spiked for a while before she realized he wasn't paying attention to her and the fifteen-year-old calmed down.

In the next ninety minutes, Jun didn't attempt to chat with her and neither did she. Both of them are busy with their own things and finally, at around 7, he finally got the space for himself once his teammate left.

He sat before the computer and opened the folder that is full of English songs.

"Okay, so… what song should I choose?" Jun started to listen to the songs one by one.

It's been three days and he still hadn't recorded the "Happy Death Day" song's background music. The drums were too difficult to master.

Feeling that he might not be able to perfect the song, Jun decided to postpone it to another week and looked for another song. The only issue is that there were no sufficient credits left to buy an audio song from the store.

While practicing the lyrics of Red Sun, earlier, he was thinking of a solution and came to a decision. Since he needed to display his songwriting skills, he thought it is best if he just pick an English song and sing a Korean version.

He searched and searched continuously. Just because the song is popular in English, there's no guarantee that it would sound good in English. That's why he needed to be sure about it.

After selecting five out of a hundred songs, he translated the first verse lyrics into Korean and tried to sing each other to see which one feels good.

"Okay, this is good. The lyrics are simple and are easier to translate. The only issue is the absence of extreme-high notes that I specialize but it's fine. I just need to sing better than the challenger. Let's finalize, Try Everything."
