Prince Not-So-Charming of the Alternate Universe

(BOYS' LOVE) When Tai Yang, a young, handsome yet introverted scientist gets hauled into one of the alternate Universes (by a dog-eared man claiming that staying on Earth would kill him), four things become especially clear. One: his black belt in karate is useless against the strange, magical, anime-looking spells of the alternate world. Two: he needs to stop getting lured into human birdcages even if there is 4-ply toilet paper in them. Three, Prince Li Jun is an asshole on Earth and in the alternate universe too! Desperately trying to return to his world, Tai Yang manages to escape several times. The problem? He keeps bringing the annoying Prince back to Earth with him where another Li Jun already exists! And after a while, it seems Prince Li Jun has gotten too fond of having him as a personal bird-cage advisor to let him escape to Earth easily, making Tai Yang's life even harder. But his behavior starts to change; why? Is Li Jun really only keeping him around for relationship advice? Or does the late-night sight-seeing, and attempts to make him immortal mean something? What do the close proximities, hand-holding, and stares mean? The fourth thing that becomes clear to Tai Yang is that he has to disappear before he actually falls for that narcissistic Prince who seems to have no intention of catching him. ...Or does he? Join Tai Yang to find out!

Healer Ji Ru.

After separating, Tai Yang and Ji Ru walked to the Infirmary. It was close to the lab and had large white doors with silver engravings of medicinal equipment. Ji Ru looked at the guards.

"Please wait out here, everyone." He smiled. "I'll make sure he's okay. He doesn't seem to have any broken ribs, but I'll confirm it. He'll be just fine, I'm sure. I mean, he's had worse happen before this!" He laughed.

"YEAH! Go Tai Yang!" The guards chorused brightly.

Lan JiRen grinned.

"Don't worry Tai Yang, you've always been heavy-boned! And you've always healed well. You'll be fine this time too, even if you are mortal." Lan JiRen said, giving him a thumbs up.

"Oh... Yes. Bones are... Urm..." He didn't know what to say to the strangers, and he vaguely wondered how Lan JiRen knew if his bones were heavy or not.

Everyone cooed at his awkwardness, finding it particularly endearing.

"It's just like when he first came here! He was so nervous and clumsy! I still remember how awful he was at talking to people, it was just like this. Remember how we thought he was purposely trying to ruin everyone's lives, but he was merely clumsy?" Lan JiRen laughed. "Brings back memories, doesn't it?!" Someone else said, laughing.

The soldiers chuckled and nodded amongst themselves. "Don't worry, Tai Yang. This time, we'll make sure nothing happens to you. This time for sure." Lan JiRen said, putting a hand on his shoulder. The lieutenant had a firm, determined look on his face.

Tai Yang glanced askance at Ji Ru who looked at him with a big smile. "That's a promise."

"Yeah!" Everyone shouted.

Ji Ru inhaled with a determined look. "Alright, I'll look at him and have him rest a little bit. See you guys in a little while." Ji Ru said, giving them a mock salute which they returned playfully. He led Tai Yang through the white and silver double doors.

Tai Yang looked around the massive area in awe. People who had to have been Earth 394's version of doctors and nurses were moving about, going about their busy day. There were five floors, and people hopped on colorful disks, easily moving to higher levels. With the serene color scheme and the sterile smell, it was the epitome of what every hospital should strive to be.

"Come on, we'll go to my area. I have a private consulting room and study on the fifth floor. I think you'll prefer the privacy." He grabbed Tai Yang's hand and started to pull him along. As they walked, people greeted Ji Ru cheerily, but when they notice Tai Yang, their faces fell into expressions of shock. People stopped and stared, and Tai Yang's name was whispered all about.

'Ah... This is why we need more privacy.'

"Sorry about this. The word of your return probably spread around last night, and this is their first time seeing you in seven years, you were very close to those in the Medical Division. You and I studied medicine too since we're Support types. Everyone loved you very much, and since our divisions are so close, we spent loads of time together."

Tai Yang nodded nervously looking at the floor as they walked. He was afraid of making eye contact with everyone ogling him.

"Hop on." Ji Ru said, lightly stomping his foot. A large periwinkle circle appeared beneath him. Tai Yang nodded and moved closer to step on the circle too. Instantly, his feet seemed to become glued to it.

'So this is how they keep themselves from falling...Interesting.'

Ji Ru flicked his finger up and it smoothly moved upward. "There's an area on the side, right there, you see it? Yeah? See those discs, like ours? Those are called Levitators. That area has automated Levitators, so you don't need to exert any magic, just make sure you press the floor number on the dial before you step on one. It's kinda like how you guys have those thingies on Earth 72. Um, what are they called? Ah! Elevators!"

Soon, they were on the 5th floor, which looked quiet and empty. There were several doors with names engraved on them. Ji Ru hummed a tune and pulled him along.

"Only you and I actually used our rooms." Ji Ru smiled, noting his curious expression. "So, remember how I said you're an Alchemist? You were, but that wasn't the only field you had your foot stuck in. You looked at pretty much everything. Geography, philosophy, biology, psychiatry, you name it. Your favorite was always Chemistry and Genetics, but we kinda had to advance research in other areas so we had to venture beyond our favorite fields. Cognitive types are very rare. Only about three of the Healers in Changying are Cognitive types, while the rest are mostly Recovery. Anyway, the Research department looks at everything about everything, but you can't look after patients in a place you're researching and experimenting."

Ji Ru stopped and looked at him.

"Since we had to learn medicine, we had to swap frequently between the divisions for Research and Medicine, and we needed a space where we could mix our studies. Eventually, we got so good that the higher-ups would only come to us for private consults, hence the need for consulting areas in our rooms too. So Li Jun and Li Wei made this floor for us. Though out of courtesy, all the Medical Division heads also have a place here." He pointed to a door and the one opposite it. "That's yours. And this is mine."

Tai Yang turned to look at the door that supposedly led to his room. Indeed, his name was crisply engraved into the white wood in gold. It glowed gently along with the other engravings of details of flowers and birds around it.

"This... is mine?"

"Mhm. Remember how rooms can't be opened by anyone but the owner of the room? This has been closed since you died. Well... since the other you died. Anyhow, it's probably reeeaally dusty and musky in there." Ji Ru said, crossing his arms and leaning against his own door.

"Do you wanna go in? I can cast a mask for you." Ji Ru tilted his head. Tai Yang glanced at him timidly. "Some other time... We have to get to them before breakfast and... I actually would like to rest a little more."

Ji Ru smiled. "Okay, my place then." He clicked his fingers and shot finger guns at Tai Yang.

Then he turned and placed his hand on the door. With a momentary green glow, the door opened. Once in, he looked at Tai Yang with a professional expression.

Tai Yang glanced around the large space, divided into a study, a consulting area, a dispensary, a resting area, and a miniature laboratory.

"How does your back feel?" He asked, pulling him to the exam table in the consulting area. There were small orbs flying about, and as soon as Ji Ru approached, they whizzed around his hands and across the exam table, sanitizing.

"It hurts a little bit." Well, that was an understatement, his back had definitely seen better days, that was for sure. But he didn't think it would be kind to get Wu Ji in any more trouble.

Ji Ru asked him to undress and went through all the uncomfortable ministrations of a full-body check-up, using strange devices Tai Yang had never seen, and many spells. He made several notes in a floating book, nodding to himself every so often.

He took blood samples, checked Tai Yang's teeth and bones with modified X-Rays, performed an endoscopy, and ran several analysis tests.

'He really is a doctor too then... Wow...He's so smart and he isn't cocky about it at all. Ji Ru is so nice.' Tai Yang thought as Ji Ru checked his skin.

Eventually, he was done, and he let out a long sigh of happy relief. "So, you're almost in the exact state your other self was when he died." Ji Ru said frankly.

"Although I must say, your lungs aren't doing too wonderfully." He scratched behind his ear and tapped his chin with a pen. "Do you smoke?"

Tai Yang shook his head. "The pollution in my country..."

Ji Ru blinked before he looked like he had an 'aha' moment. "I'll administer you something for that. Your back is badly bruised and it's going to hurt for a while, but I'll give you some ointments to help with the pain and swelling. I'll also give you a little Pain Reducing Draught today because he hit you really hard, but it will take a longer time for you to heal if I keep giving you this, so I'll give you non-magical pain meds with some Acceleration drops. Less of a drawback if we do it that way, you see." He said, clicking his fingers. Tai Yang nodded once he'd slowed down what Ji Ru had said in his mind and understood it. A few bottles started to fly from the fully stocked dispensary area to Ji Ru's study table.

"And I'm gonna give you a few shots too. Your immune system is quite..." He cleared his throat. With another flick of his pinky finger and thumb, the floating bottles opened, and small doses of colorful substances came out of them.
