16. He Jiangyu

He Jiangyu is the stepmother of Bi Yuhan and the second wife of Master Bi.

She's the eldest daughter of the He family, which is one of the top four families in the capital along with the Bi family.

Bi Yuhan's father married his mother who's his first love, but she died of an illness when their son was seven years old.

Then he married He Jiangyu in a business marriage. But she loved him deeply and that's why she was willing to marry him as a second wife even when she's the proud eldest daughter of the He family.

She's a very clever person and knows how to hide her true intentions too deeply. That's why no one ever suspected her when the sudden death of Old Master happened.

Mo Ling looked at the calm and gentle expression on He Jiangyu and wished to strangle her on the spot.

Just then a broad back blocked her view and she lifted her cloudy eyes.

Bi Yuhan stood in front of her and the mother and daughter duo when one maintained a perfect expression and the other who couldn't hide it.

He sensed the change and saw the hostility in the boy's eyes. This is the second time he sensed this big of a change in the boy. One is when he's facing his grandfather and the other is now, towards this woman who's his stepmother.

He doesn't know what the boy experienced but after all the internal conflicts that took place inside his mind, one thing he's sure of is that he wants to protect this youth who's always keeping his guard up against him.

Mo Ling was initially surprised that he stood before her just in time to hide her expression. Then she soon adjusted her mindset and returned to her cold self.

This is not the time to let her emotions rule over her rationality. She needs to plan her revenge carefully.

"Let's go and eat." With that, Old Master took the lead and went to the dining hall with the crowd following behind.

"Xiao Ling, sit beside Yuhan."
