Authors note: hey guys. Wanted to move this along. This chapter will be an overall summary of events leading up to klaus' true intro in know thy enemy.
I agree with a lot of people that the TVD story is a bore. It's basically episodic twilight. 40plus minutes of such a thing for each episode gets tedious to watch and write about.
So I'm going to move this along. Hope that's okay. I just really like the original story more 🤷
I even watched the originals first not knowing it was even connected to the vampire diaries story at all. I'd only heard about tvd. Then I saw the trailer for the originals on Netflix and gave it a cautious watch only to fall in love.
So imagine my disappointment to see how underpowered the were in the tvd. I couldn't watch it to be honest. I don't think the authors thought the originals would be so popular so the plot armour is pretty crazy with the Mystic Falls gang.
They KILLED Kol and Finn. Even if klaus needed Elena's blood for his hybrids there's no way Elijah would've allowed them to live after killing TWO of his brothers.
Sorry to any hardcore TVD fans. But it's just how I feel. The originals are 1,000 years old. By the writers own logic not even an augustine enhanced Damon should've been able to TOUCH one. Much less kill or dagger.
I'm ranting I know. But seriously. It's how I feel. I'm gonna be doing a lot of skipping around until we get to the originals season 1. I honestly might make that in the next few chapters. But we'll see.
Please enjoy this chapter.

Elijah
After killing slater I grab the piece of paper in my inside pocket and begin to text the number written down on the paper following a short message.
Mr.Mikaelson, I know your true interest in the doppelgänger and moonstone. You wish to avenge your family, something I sympathize with. Give me a shout when you decide you'd like to meet and discuss the specifics.
I know you have a duo of witches already planted in Mystic Falls. Please don't wait too long, I won't stay idle forever.
Zachary Steel
I send a text to the number given.
Mr. Steel, I was surprised to receive your message. Given the current circumstances I'd say we have quite a bit to discuss. I will arrive in Mystic Falls by nightfall. Come to this location.
I send the coordinates and pocket my phone. I recall my battle with the werewolf as I drove back to my home. The one I'd left 1,000 years ago.
His eyes were red, not something that's common. I doubt any vampire is more familiar with werewolves than myself and my family. Afterall, we were created to combat them. So seeing something new was both fascinating and worrying. I'd walked this earth for a millennium and never seen such a thing in person.
Though the red eyes themselves reminded me of an old carving I'd discovered when creating the Strix. The early days of the organization were filled with me going to find recruits. I'd stumbled upon the carvings in a cave. Depicting 5 beings. All bore red eyes similar Zachary.
The carvings were so old even my enhanced sight couldn't discern the story. Only the eyes of 5 humanoid beings and one word were legible. As if they themselves had been encased in eternity.
Primordial.
The one I faced, Zach Steel was different. Stronger. Too strong in fact. I'd never felt a werewolf's strength like that. Not to mention that he can control his power while remaining human.
The only person I ever knew who could do that was my brother. The one who'd been cursed never to do so again all those lifetimes ago. If I want to prepare for my brothers eventual learning of the doppelgänger, this wolf may be of some help.
The cave etchings along with my limited interaction with the young man in question have piqued my interest. Second only to the need to kill my brother to avenge my family.

A few hours later, nightfall
Mystic falls
Elijah
As I walk into the home procured for me a mere 30 minute drive from Mystic Falls, the birthplace of the original family, I begin to prepare.
I plan to make the doppelgänger a deal. To live her life freely until I'm ready to go after Klaus. My brother has always been impulsive, something I believe is an echo of his wolf side. While his powers may be sealed a wolf is still a wolf.
That is what I need to stay mindful of. Especially when I hear three measured knocks at the door. The human I've compelled walks to open it. As soon as I hear it open I'm face to face with Zachary Steel. 'Fast,' I note in the back of my mind. Faster than he should be. The carvings in the cave echo in my mind along with the word. Primordial.
He's a young man in look truth be told. In fact, he could pass for my brother Henrik. That's why I'd hesitated in our engagement and couldn't rip his heart out. It'd be like I'd done it to myself.
Luminous red eyes with edges so black they looked like a dying star stared into mine. "Hello Mr. Mikaelson. I believe we have business to discuss." He spoke in a deeper voice than I'd heard from him during our last face to face.
I gesture to the table in the office we stand in that's adjacent to the entry way of the home. "Please. Let's have a seat." I say walking around and sitting.
As I do I see him looking around. I finally ask, "what is it you're searching for?"
He looks back at me and speaks, "where's the alcohol?" he asks almost confused.
I chuckle and reach into the cabinet on the left side of the desk to reveal a mini fridge. Pulling out some of the best bottles of bourbon I own along with two chilled glasses I set them down and pour myself a drink.
I won't pour him one. Some level of station must be established and maintained, Afterall I'm the one on the back foot in this meeting.
I see Zach allow his eyes to light up red again witha smirk that reminds me too much of Klaus, he clearly understood the subtle power play I'd just tested him with.
He and I both remained in silent eye contact until he'd poured a good glass. He picked it up and clinked it to mine before sipping from it and leaning back. Only when his back hit the chair did the tension I'd created dissipate and his eyes return from burning red to a soft brown.
"So, tell me what exactly you offer to me besides information you shouldn't have?" I decide to start.
He smiles and pulls out…..

Zach
I smile at elijah as I pull out the moonstone. "I have some capital."
I quickly slide it back into my hoodie pocket and continue to speak after taking a drink of bourbon. "One thing you should be aware of. Although you will make deals and honor them damon and stefan Salvatore don't care about that if that deal endangers their doppelgänger obsession.
They will stab you In the back the second the understand that you intend to break the curse as well. Second, I know exactly who you are. I knew you hadn't died in the house which is why I left the note. I need answers in return for the moonstone. What am I?"
Elijah looks at me quizzically, "I appreciate the forwarning about the Salvatore brothers. As for your question? I have no clue."
'Damn it.' I think. If 1,000 year old Elijah didn't know something who would? I'm about to go into a pit of depression at the fact that I have no reference point for my abilities and knowledge of how I obtained them when Elijah speaks again.
"Though I did find a cave with beings who have eyes similar to your own. I will tell you, however, that the carvings depicting such beings are so old even my eyesight couldn't truly make out the story told in them. Give the moonstone to me and the coordinates are yours." He says.
I know he's being truthful. Elijah doesn't make bad deals. Only when you don't live up to your end does it come back to bite you in the ass. I know Elijah's witch is going to get hold of the moonstone anyway through Bonnie. No need to delay the inevitable. I'm not long for this town anyway. As soon as I meet Klaus I will go find my own pack. I have some ideas on how to do that but I want to be far away from the supernatural hub that is Mystic Falls when I begin the experiment.
I take the ancient stone out of my pocket and keep it in my hand waiting for the original. Elijah writes down coordinates on a piece of paper while I hand him the moonstone. "Thank you Mr.Mikaelson. I do hope you get what you're looking for." I say blurring out of the house towards Matt's. I truly meant that.
I look at the money I've obtained working at the grill. I take half of it and set it down on his bedside table under a note.
Hey Matt, just found out some information that could help me reconnect the dots of my past. Something I have to do. Here's what I've got. I know it sucks but we do what we have to when we have to. See ya. I'll be back around in short spurts. Mystic falls isn't my home and never will be….. just stay safe yea?
Zach.
I appreciated his help in keeping me out of the motel. Having true protection from vampires in the form of needing invitation is a wonderful thing for good sleep.
I begin looking for the coordinates and find my answer, the Rockies. I sigh, 'fuck. It's gonna be cold.' I think before blurring around Matt's house to gather my belongings to leave.
I accomplish the feat in a few minutes. 'There may be some negatives of being connected to the supernatural, but damn the perks are good too.' I think to myself seeing my backpack completely stuffed full, looking like a pillow with straps and zippers.
With that I grab my phone. There is one person I have to say see you later to. The green eyed witch.
Hey Bonnie. You free? I've got something to tell you and don't want to do it over the phone.
Need to know by nightfall.
With that I go begin to text Liz thanking her for the help she provided. Without her I'd have to run my way across America, not something I'm eager to do. I may be supernatural but I'm not some deity.
I walk out and jump onto an old Indian. A cheap thing I was able to buy low and fix up over time with Matt. I appreciated his help. The dude taught me a lot about being a mechanic. Honestly if he didn't become a cop because of the vampires I'm sure he would've built his own business for a garage.
Those thoughts leave me as I start the bike after I put the helmet on. The leather jacket over my usual hoodie makes the wind negligible as I speed down the road toward my favorite spot in this town, The quarry.
_
A few minutes later… as I pull up to the quarry I see Bonnie's car. "Hey!" I call out getting off my bike sitting in her passenger seat.
"Hey, what's wrong?" She asked ready to help. I sighed and told her about why I'd texted her.
"I'm sorry. I know leaving right now isn't a good thing. But I finally have a chance to find real answers."
I can see Bonnie's sadness. But I can't let that affect me. My future depends on finding those answers. "I don't want you to leave…" the green eyed witch said to me.
I have to break eye contact to remain steadfast. Quickly regaining my nerve I look back into her eyes and reply, "I won't be in Mystic Falls forever Bonnie. Not even if I had all the answers. I don't want to live in the shadows. I want to go somewhere being supernatural is normal. Where I can do what I want. A small place like this would never allow for that." I say with finality.
She sighs and I see the beginning of tears at the corner of her eyes but she holds them together. "I know. We've often talked about your dreams since you've arrived." I nod.
"What about you Bonnie? Do you plan to stay next to elena forever? Unlike Damon and Stefan time matters to you. Using it to live someone else's life is just as tragic as Damon spending 145 years waiting for a women who didn't love him."
I see her about to argue with me. "Just remember what I said yea?" With that I move so fast neither I or she have any way to stop it. My lips touch her cheek before I blur back to my bike and take off.
Time to get out of Mystic Falls for a bit. To be free of the constraints placed on me by the knowledge of my past life. And finally? It's time to begin experimenting.

Authors note: hey guys. Going to use this arc to skip to a more convieniet time in the tvdu so we may get to NOLA and the originals storyline sooner. Thanks for any and all support you have or will continue to show. See ya!
