Rags To Riches To HEAVEN!?

After Austin wasn't hit by a blinding light, he realized his eyes had adjusted to the light. He opened both eyes; however before he could investigate where he was, he became stunned by the beautiful face that was looking down at him with a gentle, yet slightly apologetic expression.

She was tall and slender, her every proportion was perfect. Her face was adorned with two beautiful silver-colored eyes, framed by long lustrous silver hair that cascaded down to her waist. Her skin was pale, yet it held a healthy hue unlike his which was due to malnourishment. Strangely, she was garbed in white robes draped from her neck to her feet, yet it only accentuated her beauty. Around her neck hung a silver pendant in the shape of a crescent moon. A perpetual silver glow surrounded her body reminiscent of moonlight as if she was the embodiment of the Moon Goddess.

However, Austin held no lust for the woman in front of him, the only emotions that coursed through his Being was respect and reverence.

Involuntarily, a word slipped out of Austin's mouth as he continued to look at the beautiful face above him.

"Goddess!"

Goddess was the only word that could best describe the woman.

To further reinforce Austin's opinion of the woman being a Goddess, the perpetual silver glow that was around her fluctuated, becoming brighter as if attuned to her emotions. The silver light reminiscent of moonlight was almost blinding, yet Austin felt no discomfort. Instead, he felt comfort and warmth wash over him as he basked in her moonlight.

Luna momentarily froze before angelically giggling into her hands.

She then smiled sweetly and playfully spoke.

"Oh, aren't you a sweet talker? I bet countless women must have fallen for your sugary words."

*Cough*

Austin coughed a few times, caught off guard by the woman's words.

'Sweet talker?'

'Countless women falling for who?'

'…ME?'

'Woman, have your eyes gone blind?' Austin thought, incredulously.

He wanted to deny her words; however, chose to keep his comments as mere thoughts.

Austin knew her words were false; however, a compliment, even a fake one, could be pleasant after being subjected to disdain and mockery over his appearance for far too long.

Luna smiled, with her Power and vast collection of Abilities, any of which could easily allow her to read a weaker Being's mind if she so wished, yet for the boy in front of her, she did not need to, he was like an open book.

The eyes were the windows to the Soul.

The child's widened eyes were full of skepticism and disbelief. His slightly parted lips were full of hesitation as if he wished to deny her words, yet before he did so he closed his mouth were more than enough indicators for her to understand his thought process.

Luna smiled gently as she explained the reason for her earlier words.

"The physical form of a Being is only a single aspect when it comes to attractiveness."

Austin smiled bitterly. Though the beautiful silver-haired woman's words were true; however, he didn't quite believe them. After all, if her words were true how come he, the awesome, always funny, athletic 12-packed, jacked… okay scratch that… How come the sometimes-funny Austin never got a girlfriend? Or at least heard a rumor of a girl potentially liking him?

Physically, Austin was short even for his age. He stood at a height of 4 feet 2 inches. His malnourished, pale, bony, and veiny body didn't help much either. The stench of dirty diapers that constantly wafted off of him, the bulbous bloody pimples that marred his face, and buttery teeth were probably not helping him either.

However, his personality, not to toot his own horn, was surprisingly his strong suit… it was the only card he had, but at least there was something good about him.

Sadly, before he could fizz… no what did the kids call it…?

'Ahh that's right. Jacob called it rizzing up the girls.'

However, Austin doubted he would have secured a date even after learning the ways of the rizz. His physical appearance would have scared them away.

At least, his right index finger had always been there for him during his years of loneliness. Arduously, he trained in the art of the one-finger calisthenics, a technique he later dubbed the Pirate's Hook, a move he developed himself and frankly, he was quite proud of himself.

Now, don't misunderstand, Austin tried using his entire right hand before, but for some reason, his hand was too big… He was born short, yet had abnormally big hands.

'Trust me, I'm not a liar!'

Austin bitterly smiled not knowing who he was fooling or even speaking to. His thoughts then drifted to a rather important topic causing him to grimace.

'Jacob better have destroyed my computer. He didn't look through my history, did he?'

Austin pondered for a moment, a flicker of concern passing through his mind before realization struck him, 'He definitely would have done that.'

*Sigh*

Austin sighed, internally.

'Whatever. I'm dead anyway. Why should it matter now?'

'Like what Jacob always told me, I should focus on the present, instead of being stuck in the past.' Austin recited silently to himself. Jacob had always tried to drill that into him, yet Austin could never let go of his past. His train of thought would drift to the past whenever he was idle. Even randomly his mind would drift to the past. Austin was plagued by his past.

Austin shifted his gaze away from the beautiful woman and surveyed the surroundings, discovering he was in a bedroom. It exuded a level of luxury far beyond what he was accustomed to, even during his time at the Smith mansion.

Austin never thought a bedroom could be so luxurious.

Unintentionally, Austin's thoughts drifted back to the orphanage. Instead of soft and comforting beds, they slept on bundled clothes as makeshift mattresses. He vividly recalled a few times while he slept, a metal button would tear his skin, waking him up in the process, and having to deal with blood stains on his 'washed' clothes until the day they were rewashed.

However, his life took on a drastic turn; he went from rags to riches after he was adopted by the Smith family.

At the Smith mansion, his lifestyle had been completely different. Having a separate room for himself had been a luxury he never dared to dream about... except for a few times. Austin had always been a light sleeper and was born with extremely sensitive ears, even the slightest noise would prevent him from sleeping. The cacophony of snoring, some of which sounded like late-night construction work, had kept him awake during countless nights.

Therefore, when he finally got a separate room he had been overjoyed, a comfortable twin bed wide enough for him to roll around on. A dresser for him to put clothes in, though at the time he only had rags for clothes. A balcony with a beautiful view of the back garden. And a freaking ceiling fan.

But this room… it was completely over the top, it surpassed even his wildest fantasies, leaving him completely awestruck. Just the bed alone felt like a divine cloud… whatever that meant… he once read it in a book. The size of the bed was even bigger than a king sized bed as if it was meant for an emperor. Intricately designed drapes hung from the ceiling.

Austin's gaze then shifted to an anomaly within the room: doors, yes plural!

Austin blinked in disbelief, then counted again.

One, two, THREE!?

'Since when did I forget how to count?' Austin questioned his schooling, which lacked immensely.

'Let me count again.' He rubbed his eyes with his hands and then looked to his left.

'One door!' Austin lifted one finger and then shifted his gaze to the right.

'Another door…' Austin lifted another finger and brought his attention in front of him.

'THREE DOORS!? What the heck!?' Austin was so shocked he forgot to lift a third finger, though it mattered little because he realized his eyes had not betrayed him.

After a moment of being stunned, curiosity overwhelmed him, he peered his eyes inside the door, beside the bed and immediately became gobsmacked.

'What the fuck!?

Austin saw what could only be described as a dressing room - not a freaking simple wooden shelf passed off as a dresser, but an actual room solely for clothes.

Reluctantly, but with anticipation bubbling inside of him, Austin's eyes shifted to the other door and once more became stunned.

'A personal bathroom.' Austin exclaimed, from the angle at which he looked inside from on top of the bed, he could faintly make out a sink, bathtub, shower, and toilet.

The third door was disappointing; however, it did not sadden Austin, he was already satisfied. After all, he needed a door to enter and leave his room.

Everything was perfect.

Austin nodded with the widest, happiest smile full of appreciation.

There was only one place this could be.

'This is heaven. This is what a good soul like me deserves. I knew God must have made a mistake by locking me up in that dark place. I never once doubted you God. As for those few curses… I was just joking. Promise!'

Sorry for the late chapter. What should have been a few minutes of proofreading and a bit of editing... turned into a few hours of editing...

I hope you enjoy.
