Qliphoth

In the infinite expanse of the universe, where galaxies danced in an eternal ballet of colorful light, there stood an entity defying all mortal and even divine comprehension, a colossal black tree. Its trunk was as thick as the fabric of reality itself, and its branches like twisting tendrils of darkness, stretched infinitely in all directions, interwoven with celestial bodies and existence itself.

Upon those inky-hued branches perched an array of fantastical creatures and races: simple farm animals such as cows, sheep, and chickens; Elves with unrivaled, jealousy-inducing ethereal beauty; Dwarves with muscular builds and intricately braided beards; Goblins with their grotesque leathery green skins marred by warts; and even majestic and fearsome Dragons who held immense power, yet were all ensnared within the grasp of the immense tree.

They were once vibrant with life and vitality, some confident of their strength, while others arrogant over the power they held over others. Yet now, their eyes were cloudy and lifeless as these creatures hung like eerie ornaments, each impaled by the twisted limbs of the cosmic entity. Their Soul Essence was slowly drained away by the branches they were impaled by, to sate the tree's insatiable appetite for power and sustenance.

And amidst the silent expanse of the universe, on one of the many branches of the colossal existence, a long line of dried blood could be seen, the source of which came from a lone figure using his bloodied fingers to pull his aching body forward, unaware of where he was or the trauma-inducing scene of a near-infinite number of creatures that were being drained of their Soul Essence.

His eyes were closed, occasionally letting out a noise reminiscent of a snore, yet at other times a guttural sound of pain with each movement he made.

His fingers continued to claw the 'ground' in front of him, pulling himself forward. His body, which dragged across the 'ground', was beyond bloodied with lacerations from the once intangible darkness.

*Sigh*

A long and tired sigh echoed in the vast universe, yet it was vastly different from the earlier sighs, which were distinctly from an elderly man. Instead, this sigh was indecipherable; the tone of the sigh held no indication as to who the voice belonged to.

"It is impossible for someone so weak to succeed."

The indecipherable voice continued to speak and once finished the infinitely long branch the young man crawled upon sprouted tangible vines of darkness that rushed toward the crawling figure unaware of the fate that would befall him.

Compared to the vastness of the universe, the vines which were a mere ten feet long could not be seen, yet they were more than long enough to crawl upon the young man's body and slowly coil around his body, similar to an anaconda ready to snuff out the last breath of its victim. The young man; however, remained clueless of his predicament, for he had been unconscious since an unknown time ago.

"It's happening." A second voice was heard in the darkness of the universe, this time the voice came from the owner of the golden eye, which remained suspended above, observing everything.

After a moment of silence, the owner of the golden eye continued to speak, "Though it should not be a surprise, someone with no strength achieving what apex level creatures cannot, would be a disservice to their eons of suffering."

Yet… beyond even his comprehension, something that could only be described as a miracle occurred.

The indecipherable toneless voice continued, "However, for the inextinguishable will power you have shown, despite your weakness, allow me to end your suffering."

Its words once more echoed through the universe, yet were only heard by a single person.

The golden eye widened from sheer disbelief.

'Qliphoth showing mercy, t-this… how is this possible!?'

The words he heard were words he had never expected to ever be uttered by the insatiable creature. It was true that what the young man achieved was a feat no Being of his level had ever done… yet why was Qliphoth showing him mercy? No Being had ever been shown mercy once entrapped by its branches. Once summoned, eternal torture was guaranteed. Death was a fleeting dream the Beings who were summoned wished for, yet could never achieve. So why now… why him? …What was special about the boy?

However, Qliphoth did not care to elaborate on its decision, for it need not explain itself.

The owner of the golden eye waited in hopes of receiving an answer, yet he knew he wasn't qualified to receive one.

After receiving no answer, he turned his attention back to the young man and watched as the edges of the vines that were coiled around the young man emitted a golden glow and the young man, who was previously no different from a corpse, disappeared before 'his eye'.

This was a short chapter and to be honest I'm not sure what to make of it. The chapter, though short, conveyed what I wanted it to do, yet it felt weird. So much information is missing, yet the chapter conveys everything I want it to. As readers, you probably do not understand what I mean and as an author who is implementing this writing style for the first time, I feel it's quite odd, yet needed for the story. Plot holes are needed to add mystery as long as the plot holes are filled one day (Which they will be in the future.)

Ps: This chapter took more time to write than my previous chapters.
