The Cruelty Behind The Siren's Melody Egg

Lucian frowned in displeasure.

"Sir, take out is not permitted. If you do not want to be blacklisted from Transcendence, please dig into the Siren's Melody Poached Egg." Instead of eating, the tall, overly muscular Orc was just staring at the dish.

Hearing Lucian's indifferent voice, Garrett was startled. Reluctance overwhelmed his mind. He felt like he was about to commit a sin, but the prospect of being blacklisted frightened him. Using the knife, he made a small incision into the poached egg. Suddenly, as if waiting for that exact moment, a burst of steam exploded in his face.

Caught off guard, he recoiled back, but suddenly, his nose twitched, and he unconsciously licked his lips. The cloud-like steam emitted a burst of fragrance like an aromatic bomb exploded on his face.

Five seconds later, the steam cleared, and what Garrett saw instantly cleared his mind. The reluctance that he felt upon having to eat the Siren's Melody Poached Egg vanished like the wind. Blue egg yolk shining with starlight ran down the pink veined egg white like magma flowing down a volcano.

Garrett felt as if he was staring up at the starry sky. White, blue, red, orange, black, green, pink… every color in existence was being emitted by the blue egg yolk.

With the utmost care, Garrett scooped up a spoonful of egg white and the mouthwatering egg yolk and brought it closer to his nose.

The starry sea-like egg fluid stretched as he lifted the spoon. 

An intoxicating aroma wafted into his nose, causing him to be completely captivated.

Shifting his eyes toward the source of the smell, Garrett uncontrollably gulped. The rich smell of the poached egg dominated his senses. Yet, what shocked him the most was the harmonious aroma of sweet and spicy. And as the aroma continued to flow into his nostrils, his ears twitched, and surprisingly, he faintly heard a beautiful woman's voice. The beautiful voice was like a melody that aroused drowsiness within him. It reminded him of the lullaby his mother sang to him every night when he was still young.

Being reminded of his mother, Garrett's nose tingled, and his eyes became slightly wet.

'Mother, I promise I will find some way to restore your Mana Veins.' Determination flickered in his dark green eyes as he wiped his eyes with a cloth.

Then, narrowing his eyes, he looked at the spoonful of poached egg.

'A dish capable of almost putting me into a trance. How is this possible?'

What was this… black magic!? Was something sinister mixed within the poached egg!?

For the first time in a while, Garrett looked at Lucian… and became stunned. The white-haired, blue-eyed owner was calmly staring at him.

Lucian shook his head. "How long does it take to eat one poached egg?" 

Stunned, Garrett's eyes subconsciously shifted to Lucian's plate and realized… it was empty. 

'Since when did he start eating… and even finish?' Garrett frowned. 'Or was I too entranced?'

Noticing the frown on Garrett's face, Lucian indifferently began explaining, "The first laid egg of a female Siren is vastly different from any of her other eggs. It is the first egg she has ever laid in her life, and her most precious and only baby is contained within." Lucian paused, allowing Garret to comprehend what he said.

Garrett shivered in fright and rage. Unconsciously, his hands balled into fists. The owner's words resonated deeply with a memory from his past. 

Lucian was unfazed as he continued, "When a female Siren feels that she is about to lay eggs, she will find a secluded place. Then, she will lay the first egg, which is the most important and the only egg that matters to the female Siren. Immediately after, she will lay eight other eggs and begin imparting the Nine Seas Melody to her first laid egg. After each melody, the female Siren will crush one of the useless eggs on top of her first laid egg, allowing her baby to absorb its essence and nutrients. She will do that eight times, and after the ninth melody is finished, the female Siren will unhesitantly pierce her own heart, allowing the blood of her heart to nourish her child."

After Lucian finally finished explaining, he stood up, grabbed his plate, and looked at the trembling, wide-eyed, tear-stained Orc.

For a moment, amusement flicked in Lucian's eyes, but he did not say anything. The Orc was a stranger, and despite being interested in those tattoos of his, Lucian would not go and meddle in someone else's business.

The world… or rather the Universe was not as flowery as many would think. Parents killing their children and vice versa, as well as a husband killing his wife and vice versa, was all too common.

Before entering the kitchen, Lucian turned around and spoke, "Remember to eat while the dish is still hot.' Without looking back, he entered the kitchen. 

Garrett followed Lucian's figure with his eyes. Tears were still coming out of his eyes and flowing down his face. Only after a while, did he calm down… externally. Internally, he was still emotional. Rage, sadness, bitterness, hatred, many emotions mingled inside of him.

Using a cloth meant for cleaning one's hands, he cleaned his face of tear stains.

He looked at the spoon, which had at some point fallen out of his hands and onto the plate in mild surprise.

This time, without waiting, Garrett unceremoniously placed the spoonful of Siren's Melody Poached Egg into his mouth.

*BOOM*

The moment the spoon entered his mouth, the liquid egg yolk coated his tongue and ran down his throat.

Suddenly, Garrett felt as though a war broke out in his mouth. 

A war that was being fought evenly with no winner. 

No, both armies were winning.

At one point, his mouth was on fire, yet before it could reach an unbearable level, a coolness would wash over him. At other times, the spiciness and sweetness perfectly melded, creating a symphony of delectable flavors in his mouth.

In the background, a heavenly melody that his mother used to sing to him every night played.

"Twinkle, twinkle, little star,

How I wonder, what you are!

Up above the world so high,

Like a diamond in the sky."

Unconsciously, Garrett's body swayed as he sang along to the music.

But sadly, like all good things, everything would have to one day come to an end. Soon, the melody ended, causing Garrett's heart to be filled with disappointment and sadness.

But he also knew that not everything came to an abrupt end. Sometimes, the end was merely the beginning.

And with that, he grabbed the spoon once more and spooned up the last piece of Siren's Melody Poached Egg into his waiting mouth.

This time, instead of being charmed and forced to view that illusion, Garrett enveloped himself in a layer of earth to try to keep his mind from wandering. He wanted to truly taste the dish.

As the spoon entered his mouth, Garrett steeled himself. His will was too strong to be shaken by a mere illusion.

An exquisite taste shocked his tastebuds. This time, he was truly able to taste the dish. The egg yolk was silky, smooth, and cooked to perfection. The tender egg whites were bouncy and soft and evaporated once they entered his mouth, combined with the other ingredients. He now understood what had been responsible for that clash of sweet and spicy in his mouth. The so-called Frostfire Black Pepper. Even now, he refused to believe the lies of the owner. He had never heard of such ingredients. As for their origins, they were even more lies.

But the delicious flavors of the ingredients were real. His tastebuds could testify in their favor.

After chewing a few times and swallowing, he could not help but burp in satisfaction 'Delicious! How can there be something so delicious?' Garrett stared wide-eyed at his almost empty plate.

The pleasant scent of sweet and spicy remained in his mouth. The combination of sweet and spicy was just perfect.

Squinting his eyes, Garrett saw a few flakes of salt and a Netherbane Chive remaining on the plate, causing a smile of happiness to grace his lips. Using his finger, he swiped up and shoved his finger into his mouth.

Unconsciously, his eyes narrowed into slits, and a moan escaped his lips.

Within the kitchen, Lucian had just placed the used pieces of equipment, his dirty plate, and utensils into the dishwasher when his ear perked up. 

The hairs on Lucian's hairs stood up, and slowly, he turned around and looked through the kitchen window.

Suddenly, Lucian's indifferent face changed into disgust. He felt like vomiting. He thought he had seen it all within his three lives, but a tall, muscular, male Orc seductively sucking his finger with narrowed, crescent eyes and occasionally eliciting moans was too much.

'Only Luna, Isabella, and Sylvia look seductively beautiful when they try to tempt me.'

When he thought of the three beautiful, yandere women, Lucian's eyes flashed with possessiveness and tenderness. He wondered how long it would take them to find him. Knowing them, they might have already found the planet he was on. 

'Dao Immortal Lucian was truly an idiot.'
