Despair

A group of people could be seen standing in front of Veronica's hotel. But instead of going inside, these people halted their movements when they witnessed a peculiar and dreadful sight outside.

"What in the world happened here? Who killed these three?" A man exclaimed in a trembling voice after looking at the three headless bodies lying in front of him.

He was not the only one who was frightened after seeing those bodies. The other figures were experiencing the same emotion. After witnessing the condition of the bodies, all of them felt a despairing sensation in their hearts.

A while ago, these assassins were focused on the task of killing Veronica and her child. In their minds, they had already killed her, because it was supposed to be a very easy task. After all, she was only a powerless woman living with a small child and the place was on the outskirts of the main city.

But the moment they saw those three bodies lying between them and the hotel, various kinds of thoughts started appearing in their heads. They nearly forgot why they were there.

At that point, these people were focused on figuring out what caused this. After some time, one of the men mustered up the courage and tilted his head to look at the man standing beside him in a daze. The leader was also shocked seeing the three bodies that belonged to the men he assigned there to look over Veronica's movements.

They were supposed to be keeping an eye on her for the last few months because of Nolan's orders. Their primary job was to keep a tab on her movements and scare away the people who accidentally came in this direction.

"Leader, these are the mercenaries who were assigned to watch over this place. Who could have killed these guys in such a dreadful manner? Moreover, one guy is missing. I wonder if he is alive or not. I am not getting a good feeling about this. Did we get busted by someone?"

One of the assassins looked at the muscular leader who was staring at the bodies with a dark face and said.

The leader's heart was beating like a war drum. After all, whoever killed these guys was not someone with a good heart. He took a deep breath and turned his head to face his men with a serious gaze.

"Be careful, something is wrong here. Everyone stay on your guard. No matter what, don't drop your guards!" As the leader of the group shouted to his men, suddenly something unexpected happened. His men started behaving abnormally. He also felt a chill run down his spine seeing them behave like that.

"What happened? Is something wrong? Why are you stepping back?" He exclaimed upon seeing his man take steps back as if they were scared of something.

"Leader, behind you..." A man gather some courage as he said those words while looking behind him. After listening to his man's words, he looked over his shoulders to see why everyone was acting so timid and scared.

To his surprise, a young man in a black suit could be seen standing a few meters away from him with a woman in his embrace. The woman was Veronica, who he had come here to assassinate with his man. Upon seeing Veronica and William standing there, he became surprised. After all, a moment ago there was no one there and now these two were standing only a few meters away from him. To add to his surprise, the young man did not even bother to look at them.

At the same time, those men were also startled and were in a daze when they saw William and Veronica appear in front of their eyes out of nowhere, like a pair of ghosts. Moreover, that guy didn't even pay attention to them. He was busy looking at the woman in his embrace.

"Look what we got here, Veronica. We got some company. You are an amazing woman indeed," William whispered as he looked at Veronica, who was startled upon seeing these unknown figures carrying swords and daggers in their hands. A few moments ago, they were standing at a tower next to each other and now they were suddenly standing in front of her hotel.

"Who the hell are you? Where did you come from?" Suddenly, a voice echoed in the surroundings.

Upon hearing that voice, Willam tilted his head and looked at the muscular guy standing a few meters away from him. He was twice the size of William and looked pissed, confused, and threatened at the same time.

"What will you do after knowing my origin? All of you are going to die here anyway, just like your friends," William smiled as he looked at the lifeless bodies on the ground. William's words made the whole place turn dead silent. The leader of the group was taken aback as well when he heard William's bold words.

"You bastard, who do you think you are? You are also going to die with that woman and child..." Before that man could finish his words, William appeared in front of him in the blink of an eye and grabbed him by his neck, raising his body a few meters away from the ground as if it was nothing for him.

"Do you think you are capable of harming them?" William said in a cold voice as he looked into the man's eyes. His face turned pale when he suddenly found himself trapped in William's grasp. His heart nearly skipped a beat as he tried to get away from him but alas, all his efforts went in vain.

"Please let me go..."

"As you wish," In an instant, William broke his neck, and freed him from his grasp. His lifeless body fell to the ground. William didn't stop there as he stomped on his face and smashed it like a watermelon, before shifting his gaze in the direction of the remaining assassins. Noticing William's gaze, their souls seemed to have left their bodies as every single one of them turned into a stone statue. They wanted to run but their body was not listening to them. The fear paralyzed their bodies when they witnessed the ease with which William killed their boss.

"Awakened, he is an awakened!" One of the men came to his senses and tried to run away but the moment he turned around to leave that place, he saw William standing there with a smile on his face.

"I am not done yet. Don't think of running away from me." William said as he thrust his right hand into that man's chest, took out his heart, and smashed it in front of his eyes. The man instantly died and fell to the ground.

At the same time, Veronica was looking at this brutality from the side. She was shocked when that man said he was there to kill her along with Roselyn. It was at that moment she realized that she had become so big of a threat to Nolan that he was willing to kill her child along with her.
