Chapter 16- First kill
___There is always a higher mountain, but no matter how tall the mountain is, it cannot block the sun_____
This phrase was true even for Bao, when he was still in the immortal world, people knew him for being the strongest in the whole immortal world. But Bao clearly understood, he was nowhere near the pinnacle and the immortal realm was only another short step towards that false peak. "HOW DID YOU LEARN THESE ARRAY TECHNIQUES? AND ON WHOSE COMMAND YOU PLACED IT UNDER HOSPITAL?" Bao questioned while performing puppet command on the old man
"I..was taught array method by master…., it was on master's direction, I placed the array under the hospital" old man answered
"WHO IS THAT MASTER? WHERE CAN I MEET HIM?"
"master is the one who adopted us and trained us…., I don't know where the master is…." Old man said
"ARE YOU SAYING THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLES LIKE YOU WHO KNOWS ARRAY TECHNIQUE?"
"yes…, there are many others…, scattered all throughout the world…" the old man responded
elderly man's master was likely from an obscure organization, where they would recruit homeless Childs and train them into fighters. Although this sort of organization was usual in the immortal world, where they would be trained into perfect assassins, yet here in this isolated world, it seemed fishy.
"THEN YOU MUST HAVE A WAY TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR MASTER?"
"yeah.., I do have a method to contact with master, using communication array" the old man answered
"THEN FORM THAT ARRAY HERE CONNECTING TO YOUR MASTER" Bao ordered
Then that old many did as Bao commanded him, he formed a communication array on the ground which could link with his master. Before activating the communication array, Bao lifts the puppet command from that old man.
"What did you do to me? Why is there array on the ground?" the old guy said while being confused
"old man do as I say, activate this array, and ask your master where is he currently?"
"why would I do as you say?"
After the old man said so, Bao called the old man's disciple in front of him and pointed a finger toward that disciple, with a little gesture one hand of that disciple was severed from the body. He didn't showed any pity towards someone who tried to go against him or harm people around him, without a change in his expression he severed someone's hand.
Thud* hand landed on the ground
"AARGHHHHHH"
"MASTER SAVE ME," the old man's disciple cried while groaning in pain
Blood was gushing out without a pause. Bao also lifted the puppet command of that disciple for a little moment, to allow the old man hear his disciple's cry, then that disciple again maintained silent.
"old man, do as I say or next time it will be his head," Bao warned the old man
A mortal master's biggest breaking point would be their own inability to safeguard their disciple in front of them. Unlike in the immortal world where talents might be found everywhere and can be replaced. Bao was attempting to shatter that old man's confidence and his spirit. After being threatened old man activated the communication array.
"master it's your disciple," the old man said
"OH IT'S YOU, DID YOU COMPLETE THE TASK I GAVE YOU?" a harsh voice sounded from the array
"yes, it's complete, I have collected all the spirits, master where are you right now?" the old man asked
"I AM WHERE I SHOULD BE, WHY DO YOU CARE?" a gruff voice asked
"I was only interested as to when we shall meet again" the old man said
"WE WILL MEET SOON WHEN THE KELLARI DESERT ARENA OPENS," that harsh voice said
"master what is kellari desert arena?" the old man inquired
"DON'T ASK, YOU WILL KNOW WHEN THE TIME COMES" that gruff voice responded
"thank you master for your time, I will cut off the communication array now," the old guy replied and deactivated the array
"there, I did what you asked for, now let my disciple go," the old man responded
"WHERE ARE THE SPIRITS YOU GATHERED? GIVE IT TO ME" Bao commanded the old man
Then the old guy brought out a sparkling stone from a box, unlike porcelain this stone didn't let any spirits flow outside. This stone was likewise a spirit storing tool, but it had a far bigger holding capacity.
It was time Bao leave this location, both teacher and disciple may have been killed for the transgression they committed. But Bao didn't do so, he glanced at that disciple and tapped in his forehead once, a great quantity of energy entered his inner body shredding every part of that disciple's muscles, and he slowly died. That disciple looked like someone who was caught in an explosion.
After that, Bao departed that spot, the old man fell unconscious after Bao killed his disciple. Bao wandered for a bit until a cab came and he went back to the city.
Later that old man regained his consciousness, then he rose up and noticed his cottage was blown and his disciple was dead in front of him.
"my student, forgive your master for this, it's my fault you died"
"My array got malfunctioned and targeted you, All my research also got blown away," that old guy sobbed in sadness
Then he glanced at the box where he stored the spirit stone, but that box was also destroyed.
"Now what do I do? I did say my master spirit was gathered totally, since it's ruined, I will again gather, I still have some time" the elderly guy murmured to himself
Before leaving this spot, Bao also wiped that old man's memory of him coming here and killing his disciple. He altered the cause of his disciple's death into an array malfunction in the old man's memory. Due to old man being weaker and with a weak mental barrier, Bao was able to influence his memories effortlessly. This was also Bao's first kill on this isolated world. The old man was the key to meeting that unknown master, so he left him alive for now.
