Chapter 40:  Vast Distance In Close Proximity

The Kitchen, The Rawsone Residence, Denver, Colorado....

Anxiously awaiting the arrival of his wife, Hadrian Rawsone moved about the kitchen in an effort to occupy himself or at the very least find something to eat for diner. He was quite sure his session with Maureen had done him a world of good when it came to his sleepwalking, but he knew realistically he needed to see what happened once he'd gone to bed. It was disconcerting to hear that he was not in control of himself whenever he went to bed and that he was causing a good deal of grief for his wife in the process. He didn't understand what was happening to him and hoped that it had not been a permanent thing as the real danger in his sleepwalking was always a constant means of terror.

The onset of a sudden headache caused him to want to venture to his bedroom, forgoing the inclination he had to find something to eat in the wake of the pain. He did his best to wait up for Julia but couldn't and headed off to bed. He knew she'd be in eventually and they'd have a talk about his therapy session for whatever it was worth and attempt to get back to semblance of a normal life.

The headache was stronger than he anticipated as he moved about the kitchen in search of an aspirin only to find that they were out at the moment. He made a mental note to either ask Julia to pick some up or to stop by the store the next time he'd been out.

Making his way up the stairs as the pain continued to worsen, Hadrian thought of his daughters as he entered his bedroom and collapsed onto the mattress. The twins were possibly having the time of their young lives in college and he had hoped they would succeed in whatever caught their interest as far as careers and hobbies went.

He made another mental note to call them and check on them before he found that the pain was much too great to keep his eyes open and before long his mind had been filled with visions of a blond young man with captivating blue eyes seeming to beckon to him. His apparent sadness got Hadrian's attention as he continued to drift off unsure of what the strange dream meant as everything else seemed to fade into darkness.

The Rawsone Residence, Denver, Colorado....

Julia arrived after doing some last minute shopping. She had hoped to get dinner started before Hadrian had come home, but found herself disappointed when she saw his car in the driveway. She fully intended to recommit herself to Hadrian and their marriage and meant every word she said to her former lover Gary. Silently she hoped that it had not been too late in that regard as Hadrian seemed to be as distant from her as ever.

The now weary woman set to work putting away the groceries and doing a bit of last minute cleaning to keep her mind busy. Before long the hours passed by in rapid succession and she found herself warming up a t.v dinner for herself as she set about searching the house for her husband. When she didn't see him in his study, Julia at first began to panic a bit before she found him sound asleep in the center of their shared bed and amid the quiet darkness of their bedroom.

He seemed to be at peace during his slumber and she wondered if his dreams were pleasant. It was at least what he deserved after everything that had happened to him up to that point. Without a word, she switched into her nightgown careful not to disturb him as she took off his shoes and tossed them onto the nearby floor. He would be quite uncomfortable since he'd fallen asleep in his suit pants and dress shirt, but she knew better than anyone that he needed his rest no matter how odd that it was that he'd been asleep so early in the day.

Julia crawled into bed beside her husband at bit more at ease that he'd gone to see Maureen earlier that day and closed her eyes. It had been a long while since she felt comfortable being in bed beside him and even longer still since he'd gotten any proper rest.

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Hours Later....

Hadrian Rawsone awoke in the dead of night and Julia could hear him shuffling about the room in a bid to get on his shoes. He seemed a bit out of sorts in the dark but determined as he made his way out of their bedroom and down the stairs. The clanking of keys shattered the peaceful silence that accompanied the night and the apparently preoccupied doctor stepped out into the darkness closing the door behind him as he set his sights on his car. Julia was barely able to comprehend what had happened after noticing that once more her husband was absent from their bed and the tell tale sound of his car pulling off from the driveway had startled her awake.

He had not attempted to have sex with her this night nor had he been extremely drunk in the process before leaving so it was apparent something had changed following his session with Maureen. Still, she was disheartened at the fact that he'd still been subjected to his sleepwalking and lack of awareness of it.

Unbeknownst to her and Hadrian Rawsone, his body had other ideas in terms of how to spend the night and had driven him to yet another pulsing nightclub. He instinctively paid the bouncer off and was let inside passing up a few awaiting would be patrons at the head of the line. It was largely assumed that with the suit he wore that he'd be a big spender and thus he was always allowed entry.

Slowly the sleepwalking man made his way into the club not in the least impressed via the decor or the music who's pulsing rhythms made any and everyone experience sensation beyond mental reasoning as the impulse to indulge a creeping lust was mutual for all whom had been in attendance.

Dark eyes scanned the semi-darkened bar and dance floor as purple lights and red flashes of laser pointers danced across the walls and ceiling. The scent of sweat and a collection of various perfumes and colognes filled the air, but had not been over powering. The sleepwalking Dr. Hadrian Rawsone moved like a predator in search of the most appealing prey as he walked through the nightclub.

His keen eyes seemed to fall upon two college aged and obviously out of place peroxided blondes whom had been having a difficult time getting the attention of any of the younger men in the place and an ever worse time getting them to buy them each a drink.

He walked over toward the bar sitting on the empty seat as if he had not a care in the world and tossed a hundred dollar bill on the counter before ordering a shot of bourbon for himself. The ploy seemed to get their attention as they both came closer to him eyeing the hundred dollar bill and him respectively.

"Why keep searching through a crowd of boys when we both know we need a man." Hadrian heard the green eyed older looking blonde say as she began to approach him.

The younger looking blue eyed blonde that accompanied her seemed quite nervous about approaching him at first, but joined her friend nonetheless.

Without a word from Hadrian, the boldest of the two order herself and her friend a drink and the apparently silent man allowed it to be included with his own drinks. After the first few shots the girls seemed to loosen up and sat beside him. He didn't even seem to mind how much the bold one liked to touch him in various places the drunker she appeared to have gotten. Another few rounds saw to a rather intense makeout session between them as she climbed into his lap and grinded her obviously needy body against his.

Her friend had been less drunk and greatly appalled by her wanton behavior, but said nothing as Hadrian returned her friend's drunken advances and she whispered for him to take them some place more private. Not needing to be told twice, Hadrian got to his feet as the green eyed blonde lead him out back toward the alley way as her younger friend reluctantly tagged along.
