I FINISHED THE FUCKING THESIS, DAMN IT. FINALLY FREEDOM.

Updates will be more frequent from now on for this and other stories. Thank you to everyone who is still here.

This was a shorter chapter, but I hope you like it.

Chapter 9 – The First Step

The theory of relativity proposed by Albert Einstein, in layman's terms, states that time is relative depending on the frame of reference from which it is being measured. Carlos had never thought in his life that such a theory would be of any use or even seen in practice during his lifetime, but he was very wrong.

In his room, Carlos slowly opened his eyes and looked at the familiar ceiling above with a dead stare.

"10 years... and here it hasn't even been 15 seconds..."

Carlos lay motionless in bed; he could feel his body rested, but his mind was exhausted. Not due to the training with Mito, which, although quite rigorous, was very beneficial, no. What wore him out was the monotony and lack of change in that damned white room.

Although he did not feel hunger or thirst in that place, the desire to savor a good meal and drink something was very strong. Besides the small pitcher of water that quickly dried up, all he and Mito drank was the water she produced with her ninjutsu. This was one of the few pleasures Carlos had in that white hell. Luckily, he had someone to talk to; otherwise, he would have succumbed to insanity. However, thinking of Mito, Carlos couldn't help but feel strange.

Even though he had the body of an 13-year-old, he was someone who had already passed 50 in his previous life, so he wasn't a pure young man who didn't know the pleasures of life. Besides, with his body entering puberty, his hormones were constantly raging when he was in that room with Mito.

As for Mito, she was a beautiful MILF in her 40s but still maintained the face of a young woman in her 30s. She had an extremely tempting body and was a widow. Frankly, after living together for 10 years, it would be strange if something hadn't arisen between them. Although he was 13 and that would be considered wrong, considering that in the world where she lived, where younger children were thrown onto the battlefield, the romance between the two ended up flowing quite naturally, and they went from teacher and student to lovers.

Carlos didn't know what to think about such a relationship; it could be love, but it could also just be a way to end the monotony of that place. In the end, he didn't know what Mito thought about their relationship, and since they never really cared to talk about it, he just accepted it as an affair... a long affair, 10 years of wild sex with his Milf teacher who hadn't touched another man since her husband's death, and was extremely-

'Okay, enough of that.'

Carlos then closed his eyes, forcing himself to forget Mito while trying to channel the chakra in his body. After a few seconds, he managed to feel the energy coursing through his body, but he wasn't very excited.

'Just genin level, at most almost chunin, not even close to a special Jonin. Mito said I don't have much talent for this and that my reserves are mediocre, but I think it's due to my body. Unlike her, I don't come from that world, much less have a physique that descends from Kaguya's lineage. It's almost a miracle that I can use this energy; it must have something to do with the strange energies that exist in the DC... is there chakra in the DC? Well, it doesn't matter, I'll check that out later.'

Carlos got up and went to take a shower before going to the kitchen for lunch. It was a simple meal: rice, pinto beans, salad, and roast chicken, but after 10 years without eating, Carlos cried with happiness as he savored every bite of the food his mother had made.

In the afternoon after lunch, Carlos decided he needed to rest a bit. He already knew that with his chakra reserves, he was at most at Sakura's level during the Naruto classic period or something like that, but unlike her, he had knowledge of the different techniques of the Uzumaki clan that he learned from Mito. Besides that, perhaps due to their relationship, she also taught him some other techniques like transformation, substitution, and clones. Unfortunately, they weren't shadow clones, but they would do, along with some basic genjutsus.

With all this, anyone would think that Carlos was incredibly strong. But he recognized that, even so, he wouldn't last long in a battle against any relatively known or even unknown adversary from the DC universe, I mean, if the League of Assassins sent someone after him, he wouldn't even see how he died.

Fortunately, he was still an unknown without power or anything else that would interest the big shots who controlled the world, and he wanted to remain that way for some time. However, these concerns could wait until tomorrow; today, he just wanted to enjoy life outside that white room.

Carlos went out to chat with some friends, played some soccer, and returned shortly before dinner. Upon arriving, he noticed that his mother had already arrived and was finishing preparing dinner.

"Mom, I'm home."

"Go take a shower and then come eat."

Hearing his mother's voice, Carlos smiled a little and went to take a shower. After drying off and putting on clean clothes, Carlos went to the kitchen for dinner. He looked at his mother, who was already at the table serving both with a smile on her face. Carlos noticed the mix of feelings in that smile, joy, and pride mixed with worry and fear. He knew he was the source of all these emotions in his mother, but Carlos couldn't stop.

Not that he didn't care about her, but because at this moment, he didn't want to give up trying to change things.

Both started eating in silence. While enjoying the meal, Carlos noticed the look his mother was giving him but said nothing. He wanted her to speak first.

"Carlos, why do you want to start a company? I don't think it's a good idea, especially with the current state of the country."

Carlos paused eating for a moment and looked at his mother. Honestly, he expected her to start by congratulating him for scoring well on the test or some other topic. His mother usually wasn't very direct, but it seemed he underestimated her concern this time.

He couldn't blame her; worrying about him was her job as a mother, making sure he didn't make mistakes and stayed on the right path was her role. Even if she was proud of him and believed he could succeed, it didn't mean she wasn't worried.

Carlos looked at the woman in front of him; in his mind, she had always been a strong and confident woman, but now it was the second time he saw her so fragile.

"Mom, you don't need to worry."

"How can I not worry, Carlos, tell me."

"..."

"What will your company work with? Have you thought about logistics? Personnel? The money to invest in equipment?"

"Have you become my lawyer now?" Carlos asked, smiling, only to be met with a look full of concern from his mother.

"Carlos, that gold you got may seem like a lot, but it won't last forever. Do you really want to bet on starting a company right now?"

Carlos paused a bit and looked at his mother.

"What do you recommend?"

"I think it's better if you save it for later in case you need it, buy land, it's safer. Land never loses value; on the contrary, its value always grows. I talked to Januário, the bank manager, and he said that soon many people will take out loans using their land as collateral, if they..."

'I never stopped to ask myself, but... when I died, did someone take care of her?'

Carlos thought about his mother from his previous life. She only had him to take care of her. After he died, she ended up alone. Deep down, he hoped that his daughter could take care of her grandmother.

"Mom, it's okay. I already have everything planned... more or less, actually."

"Carlos-"

"Don't worry. Tomorrow we will see a good lawyer and start the process of creating the company and find a place to serve as a temporary headquarters."

Eliane looked at her son and, in the end, just sighed, deciding to support him. She was still afraid it might go wrong, but she was also proud of her son. After all, what mother doesn't want her child to be successful?

Moreover, she had seen his academic level through the exams and knew he was intelligent, maybe not a genius, but undoubtedly someone capable of bringing change. So, in silence, they both finished dinner and went to do their own things.

The next day, Carlos and his mother woke up early and took a bus to Goiânia to start the process of creating his company. As the state capital, Goiânia was quite busy, not as much as Brasília, but still, this was the best place to find competent people to work for him.

Around 8 o'clock, they arrived at the bus terminal and, after taking a taxi, headed to downtown Goiânia to a local law firm, Gomes & Gomes. Carlos remembered them because it was a very large firm when he was mayor, with almost 1,000 employees, and their clients were mostly landowners, politicians, and some 'informal authorities.'

Carlos didn't like them, but they were good, so he decided to make them his 'temporary employees' and after creating his own legal team, he would let them go as a way to get insider information from other clients.

Stopping in front of the law firm, which, although not as majestic as it would be in the future, was still quite impressive, Carlos, accompanied by his mother, entered with his head held high, ready to take his first step towards a new future and a better future for the country.
