14 Contract

The next day being Friday Genesis would have it easier. In the office, the busiest days were always Mondays and Wednesdays. Now that it was Friday unless there was an important project the day was pretty chill.

Genesis decided to be extra early to leave extra early. She went in even before Aiden arrived.15 minutes before he would arrive she placed his coffee on his desk and hurried away to the marketing department to do her first task of the day. She organized all the documents that Aiden would have to sing to avoid as much contact with Aiden as possible.

When Aiden arrived at his office he realized Genesis was not present. He saw his coffee already on the table, he concluded that there was some kind of emergency or something so he sat back in his chair and started working.

When he saw she did not return he called her after realizing that she would probably try to ignore him. Genesis finished discussing with the director of the marketing department when her phone started ringing. She hesitated but ended up answering the unknown number.

"Who is this?"She asked.

"....." Aiden realized he had called using his personal phone number which Genesis does not have. She only has his business-related phone number. He decided that this would be the perfect chance to give it to her."It has been less than 24 hours and you already forgot about me?" He questioned.

Genesis froze."ah p-president.."She shuttered."Genesis If you are planning on avoiding me that is not going to work."He told her. He moved his chair facing the big window in front of him and watched the people walking on the streets many stories below him.

"What? No of course not.I'm currently discussing the details of the project you assigned for me with the marketing department." Genesis defended herself. Aiden chuckled."I'll wait for you in my office. Bring the reports of the details you discussed."He ordered.

"Yes sir!" He hung up and she immediately ran towards the elevator. The last thing she wants is to get on his bad side. That would just be chaotic.

Genesis got out of the elevator and knocked on the office door. She calmed her heart down and entered. She saw Aiden had his chair facing the window so she sighed in relief but as soon as she did this he turned to face her.

She placed the files in her hand on the table."Here are all the details sir."She said. Aiden opened the file and schemed through the pages. Genesis stood in front of him with a blank face but only she knows how crazy her thoughts were.

She couldn't help but admire his changing expressions as he went through each page. Finally he closed the file and placed it on his table. He moved it aside and laid back on his chair.

He placed his elbows on the table and his expression turned cold."You took it off?" Instead of coming off as a question it came out as a statement. Genesis frowned. She then realized what he meant.

"I-I" Aiden stood up from his chair and walked towards the refrigerator. He took out a cold water bottle and gulped it down. Once he cooled off he sat back down in his chair."You don't have to reject me so coldly."He finally spoke to her.

"That's not what I mean it's not why."Genesis bit her cheek to stop herself from babbling on. Aiden sighed and looked up at her."Take a seat and tell me how you feel about it."He told her.

It would be better to be more straightforward because at this pace he would never get anywhere with her. "It feels wrong." She told him."Why?"He asked.

"Because it's just a deal between our families. You said whatever you said yesterday to make it all go smoothly right?"She questioned a hurt look in her eyes but she quickly covered it up. Aiden frowned."Is that what you think?"He asked. Genesis nodded.

"Your wrong. My confession was genuine. I understand you were hurt and betrayed once. I also understand that it's hard for you to accept. But not everyone wants to hurt you and take advantage of you. I am not one of those people Gen." He walked towards her.

Genesis felt guilty. He sounded so genuine and yet something in her mind kept telling her to stop and reject. She felt so angered with herself. Wasn't she supposed to have learned to trust people more? Why does she still feel stuck?

"Luckily I came prepared for this exact conversation."Aiden opened his desk drawer and took out a contract. He placed it in front of her and smiled.

Genesis was shocked."I will prove it to you in two months. If by then you still refuse then I will stay away. I will never search for you again." He knew this was risky but he still did it. He recognized that she is special and won't get swayed with chocolate and flowers.

Even though that seems like it will work is not just about the sweet words. In his case he would put her in a competition instead. A confrontation with her own heart. He would made sure to get himself stuck in her mind 24\7.

"Make it as hard as you want for me. I won't mind, but if you FAIL and fall in love with me instead you must marry me."He told her and placed the pen in her hand.

Genesis crossed one leg over the other and took the pen.

'He really-' She was dumbfounded. She never thought he would go to this extent. He even challenged her. Her one damn weakness is her competitive spirit. Afterall she is still a Miller. Her parents thaught her success and to be the best. To accept any challenge and climb the highest mountains. That pride still remains. She moved the pen ready to sing.

'This is perfect. I will be able to get rid of this marriage easily and at the same time defeat him in something.' She thought.

She remembers the first month she spent working as his assistant. She was once a CEO so of course it was hard to admit working for him. Even though she admires him she has been itching to challenge his accomplishments for a while now.

She then stopped her thoughts and sighed."Can you explain it a bit further? Let's put out our conditions first. Shouldn't we agree on each point of the contract first?" She asked. Aiden nodded.

"That would be for the best."
