His Final Decision

Jasper sat back in his chair while leaning back in his chair and watched the young man in his mid-thirty, who had accomplished so much in his life in such a short time. Morgan was like a son to Jasper, but it had taken a lot of determination and patience to get him to his current achievement. If Morgan wasn't the model of success, nobody was.

If the boy were Jasper's own blood, he couldn't be more proud of him. The kind of love that could have made Jasper's achievement in the business world worthwhile had eluded him. And until he met Morgan one gloomy afternoon, he regretted not taking the time to establish a family.

However, had Jasper gone overboard in trying to challenge Morgan? The young man put in a lot of effort and was really intelligent. Because of his most recent activity, which was to start his own business despite inheriting a lot of money from his rich father, his domination is only going to increase in the future.

Morgan had already amassed an absurd amount of riches. Unfortunately, he worked twenty hours a day and never bothered to take the time to actually enjoy his life. It's the way that Jasper had gone through before.

As a young handsome man, Morgan never got tired of the beautiful women, but he could only stay interested in them for about a week before moving on. If Morgan continued to push himself to achieve more success in business, he would never find a woman who could love him in return.

Jasper knew that if Morgan weren't careful, then the man would end up just like him. Morgan seemed to have met his perfect match in a young woman named Sarah Kaisley. His newfound seriousness about life and his closeness to the girl's family were evidence of this.

He took another look at Melody's resume and realized that she was obviously quite young and could be just what Morgan was looking for in an assistant. For the past several years, Morgan had been so focused on work that he hadn't taken the time to manage his life in an appropriate way.

The option of taking on his fiance's sister as an assistant seemed to be more suitable one for Morgan. In this way, the girl can exert more good control over Morgan's life and guide him in a direction that will help him mature into a responsible man for his family.

He simply wished that the woman would be as efficient and helpful as his housekeeper, Elaine, who had worked for him for a long time. Melody Brynleigh, huh? He would have to have his men look into who she was.

"Are you sure that you want to hire her as your assistant?" Jasper asked him after paused for a few moment. "Think about it for a second. Being your personal assistant, she's expected to do more than just keep the secretarial work and offer day-to-day administrative support for you. She must be close by to help you plan your days, share your workloads, and even keep a watchful eye on your private life. It's very much like what Elaine have been doing for me."

"Yes, I've given it a lot of thought and made up my mind." Morgan looked at him with unwavering resolve in his eyes and added, "You'll agree with me that I made the right decision to hire her after you finally meet her in person. You're thinking it all wrong if you're concerned about how flirtatious she appears. Not that she's attractive or anything, but she's the type of woman who would less likely try to entice me."

Taken aback by the young man's determination, Jasper paused for a moment before saying, "Well, then, why are you here? Why don't you...?"

"I'm here to see if I can get any help from you."

"What's that?"

Morgan let out a deep sigh, rubbing the bridge of his nose for a moment. "She's living with Sarah now. She mentioned something about… well, she needs a place to live somewhere instead."

There was a knock at the door, and it was the housekeeper informing them that dinner was ready. She then looked at Morgan with a stern expression on her face, as if to tell him that he needed to hurry into the dining room and start enjoying whatever it was that she had cooked for the two of them. Probably all three of them, actually.

Elaine was not bashful about sharing meals with the two guys she cared for. It didn't take a gambling man to predict that Elaine would toss some of the meal's leftovers into Morgan's car. This protective woman didn't appreciate Morgan eating out too often. She made sure he ate a home-cooked meal at least once a week by preparing special food for him.

Jasper looked at Morgan and nodded. "Done. Elaine?" He called out to her.

As expected, Elaine walked through the doorway, nodding her head. She was privy to all that was said and done in the house, and she always seemed to know exactly what Jasper would need even before he ordered her to do so. "I'll get one of my apartment in the city all cleaned up and ready for her to move in."

"Thanks, Jasper," Morgan said with deep sincerity. "I don't like the idea of someone as young and vulnerable as this Ms. Brynleigh as my assistant crammed into the same apartment even with her sister."

"Sure." Before Elaine could take his glass away, Jasper got up from his desk and walked all the way around it, gulping down the last of his vodka. He also had a hidden supply of cigars.

They had dinner together and discussed about business and went over Morgan's future move. When Morgan finally got into his car that night... Elaine knew he often forgot to eat while working, so she placed a large canvas bag on the passenger seat and loaded it to the brim with pre-packaged meals in plastic containers that he could just heat up in the microwave for meals.

All the way back home, he was examining everything he'd picked up from the discussion in the past few hours. He smiled with the thought that he had made the right decision for Melody Brynleigh.
