Side story: Nice

Part of this story is before he joined Artemis plus one more year.

"How are they doing today?" someone asked

"Well since they just merged and nothing else has happened yet but it is still asleep."

"What's happening? What is this weird feeling?" as someone was lying on the ground

"It is awake!"

"Did they call me an it a mere human, called me that?"

"Do you like your human body?!"

"Human body?"

"We found the perfect body for you to stay in so we can talk." as he walked over to him

"So this is the weird feeling."

"I don't know if you can speak or not."

He sat up and looked at his hands.

"So where is the being that had this body?"

"Oh, you can speak. To answer your question, he is still there."

"What is his age?"

"Uh, he was 14."

"So you gave me a child's body. Then you also called me an it." as he stood up

"Well, we can't do anything about that."

"Sir, come look at this."

"I guess we can talk later." as he walked away

"Where the hell am I?" he thought

"Looks like we won't have to worry about merging. It looks like he did it himself without any problems."

"Why do I get this feeling that I want to go outside?"

"Alright, I'm back. Is there anything you need?"

"Yes, there is something."

"Well, what is it?"

"To go outside."

"I'm sorry?"

"To go outside."

"We can't let you do that."

"Alright."

"Why does he want to go outside?" he thought

"This body is so weird."

Then a person comes in with food.

"Hey time to eat."

"Food? Oh wait that is right humans need food to survive." he thought

"Well eat up." as he left the room

He came up to it and looked at it.

"Hum well I am feeling a little hungry I guess it is this body."

He picked up a piece of food, sat down, and ate it.

"It doesn't taste that bad but it just doesn't feel right. And I feel like I'm being watched as well."

"So did it work?"

"We'll find out."

"Urg I can't keep my eyes open. What is happening to me?" as he fell to his side "What did they put....in.....this?" and he passed out

"Alright, let's get a move on."

They came over and rolled him onto his stomach and lifted up his shirt.

"Alright time to put on his number."

Someone comes over with an iron with the numbers 13246. Then he puts it on his back then he screams and tries to get out from under him.

"Man, I want him to sit still."

Then his ability activates and sends him backward.

"I didn't think his ability would activate." as he got up

"Are you alright sir." as he came over to him

"Yes I'll be ok but this is incredible."

"What do you mean?"

"He just got that body and can already use an ability."

"So what do we do now?"

"Just leave him and let's go." as they walked away

"I'll kill you." Then he moved and his shirt brushed against his back. "This burns and I still feel a little tired but I can't sleep here."

"What are we going to do next?"

"Don't know we just have to wait."

"It seems they aren't finished with me."

They all left the room and he sat up.

"I need to find a way out of here." as he looked around

He noticed a vent.

"That might not fit me. So all I have is this door, but it opens from the outside."

"He seems to be plotting something."

"Well, he can't do anything anyway but sit there."

"How bothersome I can't find a way out and I don't know how to use my powers in this small human body."

"And even if he gets out he doesn't have a place to go to."

"You are right on that one."

"I'll kill them one day."

Later on that night a cat comes into his room (the door is still open).

"A cat? Where did it come from?"

"Do you want to get out of here?" it asked

"I think I'm hallucinating?"

"You're not."

"Alright then yes I want to get out of this hell."

"Well get up and follow me." as it walked out the door and he got up off the floor and followed it

They started running down the hall and an alarm started going off.

"Well, that was fast."

"Where is this cat taking me? It's getting harder to keep my eyes open anymore." as he fell to the ground

"Huh kid?" as it turned around and came back to him

There was no response.

"Damn it he must be out cold." as he changed out of his cat form and picked him up

He started running with him on his back.

"Shit he's making me so much slower but I can't leave him behind." he thought

"Jin how is it going you need to hurry up." a voice said in an earpiece

"Sorry, I had to grab something."

"What did you grab this time Jin?"

"I'll show you when I get to the car, Pavi."

"Alright?"

He continued down the hall and saw the exit.

"Almost there." and as he said that the door started closing from the top. "Damn it." as he threw him under the door

He changed to his cat form and ran under it then changed back and picked him up.

"Sorry for throwing you." he whispered

"Come on Jin!"

He made it to the vehicle and put him then also got in. They started it and started driving.

"You picked up a kid, what the hell, that wasn't part of the plan!" someone yelled

"Well, it is now."

"Don't start yelling back there, you'll wake him up." A girl said

"Sorry, Pavi." Jin said

"We are almost home." She said

A few minutes later.

"We're here." She said

"Let's get inside." Jin said as he picked the boy up

Humans have abilities and some don't, the ones who don't, long for it so they try to make weapons from the ones that do, the first tier is what they call it but it is mainly of those with abilities they wanted to make a weapon which was me.

"Alright let's clean up his burn." Pavi said

She cleaned up his burn and put a bandage on it and left extra clothes.

"He's a quiet sleeper." Pavi said

"Well, it doesn't look like he slept anyways." Someone said

They both walked out of the room.

"So what are we going to do now?" Jin asked

"Wait for him to get better then we have to give him to someone we trust."

"We can't, you know that they will go and hunt him down."

"Do you have a better plan Jin?"

"Yes, Geno let him stay with me."

"Are you stupid you don't know why he was in there and you want to take care of him?"

"Ok but that won't change anything."

"Come on, you two, stop arguing." Pavi said

"There is so much noise." As he (kid) gets up. "It's cold."

"Oh, you're awake." Jin said as he came in

"Where am I? Who are you?"

"The name is Jin and you're in the lower tier. So what is your name?"

"I don't have a name."

"Alright well, Nice sounds like a good name."

"Nice? Why that name?"

"What you don't like it, we can choose a different one."

"No, it's fine."

Then Jin takes off his coat and puts it on Nice's shoulders and he looks up at him.

"What are you doing?"

"You looked cold so you can have it."

"Um, thanks." As he put it on

"Jin come on, it's time to go!" Geno yelled

"See you later, don't go anywhere ok."

"Alright."

Jin left the room.

"Ok, so I'm in the lower tier wherever that is." He said as he got off the bed and went over to the clothes

He picked it up.

"I guess I better put these clean clothes on." He took the coat off and tried to put them on

He got them on a bit later and then put the coat back on.

"Well, at least it doesn't hurt anymore."

Then the door opened.

"Hey, Nice I'm back." Jin said as he came in

"Um hello, why are you back so early?"

"Come on, I've got something to show you." As he grabbed Nice's shoes and put them on him

"Wait what?"

"Pavi we'll be back so don't worry!" Jin said as he pulled Nice away

"Wait." He said as he tried to keep up

He let go and they started walking around.

"You know you can keep the coat."

"Why?"

"Just have it."

"Ok?"

They walked up to a shop.

"What is this?"

"Come on, let's get something to eat before we go back."

"Eat what?"

"Some candy, don't tell Pavi."

"Ok?"

They both walked in.

"Welcome, how may I help you today?" A woman asked

"I would like a bag of candy please."

"What kind?"

"One for a kid."

"Ok." As she got it together and handed it to him

"Thank you." As they both walked out

"Are we heading back?"

"After we eat this." As Jin started walking

"My body hurts, it's probably from the chaos." Nice thought as he followed

They sat down and started eating the candy.

"This is pretty good." Nice said as he kept eating

"Whoa slow down."

Nice stopped and looked at Jin. "Why did you do this stuff for me?"

"Well it's just a habit of mine and I couldn't leave you there."

"You sure are strange."

"Huh, what do you mean?!"

"Come on, let's go and head back." As Nice got up

"Alright." Jin said as he got up

Jin walked ahead of Nice.

"It's hurting." As he looked at his hand

"We're back." Jin said as he came into the house and Nice followed

"Food is almost ready." Pavi said

"I'll be right back." Nice said as he walked out

"Is everything ok?" Pavi asked

"Don't know I'll go and check on him."

"This hurts more than that place."

"Nice, what's wrong?"

"It hurts." He whispered

"That's the part of being human."

"How did you?"

"It was a guess but try to take care of yourself."

"Thank you." Nice whispered

"Come on." Jin said as he came in front of him and Nice hugged him

"Thank you." As he started crying

"Uh yeah. Come on let's head in and eat then go change your bandages "

They went in.

"Hey, where's Geno?" Jin asked

"He said he had to do a few things. By the way, I'll be heading home after today." Pavi said

"Alright, so we better enjoy this then."

"Oh I heard the fair is coming up here soon, maybe you can take him to go see."

"A fair?" Nice asked

"That is a good idea."

"Well just eat and change his bandages then go to sleep you two can discuss what to do tomorrow."

They finished eating, changed Nice's bandages then he went to sleep.

"So what do you think of him?" Pavi asked

"He's a good kid but some of it is better unsaid."

"Ok well see around." As she got up and left

Jin went over, washed the dishes then went to sleep.

Over the next few days.

"Hey Jin, can you teach me how to write?"

"Why all of a sudden?"

"I just want to learn."

"Alright." As he goes to his room and grabs an empty journal. "Here we go." He grabs a pencil

"Oh Jin, look at what I can do." Nice said as he touched the pencil and it went into the air

"Cool but do you know how to make it stop?"

"Yes and no it works when it wants to." As the pencil fell

"Alright let's get to work."

They practiced Nice's handwriting until it looked like it could be read.

"Alright, that's enough for now so let's go to the fair." Jin said as he got up and walked off

"Ok." Nice said as he wrote something down

"Are you coming?"

"Yes, I'm coming."

They got into a car and drove to the fair.

"We are here." As Jin stopped the car and got out then closed the door

"This is a fair?" Nice said as he got out of the vehicle and closed the door

"Come on, let's go." Jin said as he started walking off

"Wait for me." As he caught up to him

"Even though we've been staying with each other for only a day he has grown attached." Jin thought

"Jin what's this?" Nice said as he stopped and pointed at a small shark stuffed animal

"It's a shark stuffed animal and you have to play a game to get it."

"So what is the game?"

"It's a shooting game."

"Can you get it?"

"Of course, I can."

It took him three tries before he got it.

"There we go." As the man gave him the shark stuffed animal

"Here Nice it took me a bit." As he handed it to him

"Thanks." As he took it

"Let's go on a few rides before we go back."

"Ok."

They went on a few rides then Jin decided it was time to go home.

"Alright time to go."

"Huh alright." As Nice looked at him

They got in the car and started heading home.

"So did you like the fair?" Jin asked

Nice was asleep holding the shark stuffed animal.

*Sigh* "Sound asleep."

A bit later they got home and Jin picked up Nice and went inside.

"I'm not asleep." He mumbled still half asleep

"Yes, you are." As he put him in bed

The next day there was a shot that scared him awake.

"Jin." Nice said as he got up and ran to the noise

"So you thought you could keep hidden? It took us a while to find you."

"Well, we're good at hiding."

"Well, I don't think that is going to happen anymore because you will bleed out and die."

"Jin!" Nice yelled as he came out

"There you are 13246."

"Get away from Jin!"

"What are you going to do?" The man asked

"This." Nice said as his ability activated and he came at him and touched the gun which soon started floating in the air

"I see you've been practicing."

"Not like you care."

"You've become more human than you thought in just 2 days."

"Ok and." As Nice punched him with his gravity

"Oof." As he went back

"You can leave or I might hurt you more."

"Hah."

"What's so funny?"

"Ok then have it your way but do know we aren't done." As he disappeared

Then Nice turned around and went to Jin and knelt on the ground.

"Are you ok?"

"I've been better. You did good, just make sure to use your ability to help others."

"What are you talking about you're going to be there as well right?"

"I'm sorry but I can't time is up for me even though they say cats have 9 lives."

"Come on, don't lie."

"It's alright." As he pulled him to his chest. "You can cry."

"I won't forgive them." He said as tears ran down his face

"That is ok but don't hold on to it forever you have to let it go, good luck Nice." As his hand fell

"Jin? Jin!" As Nice started crying

A few years later

"Hey you have to keep up!" a red-haired boy in a jacket yelled

"Catch him, don't let him get away!"

Then he went into the air.

"Where did he go!?"

"We'll have to split up and find him."

They all dispersed and he came down.

"Well, that was easier than I thought it was. Well time to get back."

He went up to a hole that was in a wall and went in and walked farther off from it.

"Where did you sneak off this time?"

"Huh." he said as he turned around

"I asked where did you sneak off this time, Nice."

"Nowhere." Nice said as he covered up the hole

"Don't lie, you have them looking for you. You went up to the middle tier again, didn't you."

"What's the problem with that? They need to lay off our backs, we can't stay down here forever."

"I know but what if you get caught, what would we do with you gone?"

"Don't worry, that is something I will have to deal with."

"You're stupid."

"Yes, I know."

"Well everyone is waiting." she said as she walked away

"Alright." as he followed behind

They went into a room with several other kids in it.

"Nice you're back!" they yelled as they turned to him

"I wasn't gone that long."

"Are we going to do anything today?" one asked

"What do you mean?"

"Oh Clare, I have to tell you something."

"Yes, what is it?"

"Someone should be here later to talk to us."

"Who is it?"

"Sorry, I have to go back out."

He went back up to the middle tier and put his hood up and walked around some. Down in the lower tier.

"Why is there a hole here? Might as well block this up." someone said as he covered it up with a big chunk of wood

"Hey, Clare, where did Nice go?"

"He went to the middle tier for a bit."

Then there was a knock at the door.

"Who is there?" Clare said as she opened the door

"I'm here to talk to someone named Nice."

"He's not here right now."

"He told me that we'll meet here."

"Well, I think you have the wrong person."

"Clare, we have a problem." A kid said as they came up to her

"What is it?" She asked

"Nice got in trouble with the first tier."

"What do you mean?

"Come look." He said as he ran off

"We caught you now so you can't escape."

"Oh, really you people from the first tier are all the same."

"Nice!" Clare yelled

Then the other guy walked up to Nice and put his hand on his shoulder.

"Huh, my ability isn't working."

"Move out of the way!" A girl yelled as she pushed her way through the people

Then he took his hand off Nice's shoulder. Then she got up to them.

"Mars and Nice, correct?"

"Yes?" Mars asked

"Ok well I want you two to come to work at Artemis in the middle tier and the name is Melody by the way." She said

"Why would I work with you?" Nice asked

"Well, you can be away from the first tier and be able to still stay here."

"Don't worry about us. Nice, we'll be fine."

"Well, first-tier people get out of here." Melody said as she turned around and the first tier people started walking away

"So when do we get started?" Nice asked

"How about now." She said as she turned back around and held out her hands and they grabbed them. "Welcome aboard, starting today you are both partners."
