Chapter-19: The Wave mission! (part-I)

(Around a month later)

After completing several D-rank missions, team-7 was incredibly bored and annoyed.

The list of stupid missions went on and on.

Catching Tora the cat, mowing the lawn, babysitting etc. was already getting on their nerves and Naruto finally snapped at Hiruzen and asked him to give him a better a mission and he won't be doing any D-rank missions now.

Hiruzen knew this would happen as every team went through this progress at least once.

He assigned them a C-rank mission.

To protect Tazuna the bridge builder.

The mission was simple. Protect Tazuna till he reaches his hometown, land of waves.

It was time to travel now.

Naruto packed everything needed for the journey. Because of the D-rank missions, Naruto had a lot of money and he could buy everything needed during this journey.

The team was now heading out of the village.

After traveling for a few hours, they were attacked by the demon brothers.

Naruto didn't panic and created some shadow clones to fight them while Sasuke and Sakura protected Tazuna from them.

Just like in canon, Kakashi was attacked but he used substitution jutsu.

The demon brothers didn't try to fight any of them after that and directly targeted Tazuna.

Kakashi quickly took them down so that he can now interrogate Tazuna. Being attacked by chunin level ninjas means that the mission rank was higher than C-rank.

Tazuna tried to hide this by saying some stuff but it didn't work at all. After some more pressure from Kakashi, Tazuna chose to reveal everything and now the team was discussing what to do now.

"I think we should just inform Hokage-sama and proceed with the mission. We need to follow through what we started. Not finishing it may create negative image of Konoha in eyes of Land of waves, which may affect our relations with them." Naruto said with enthusiasm.

This was his first C-rank mission. He wasn't going to abandon it for no reason. In fact, he was itching to fight other ninjas.

"No! I think we should just leave! he was lying about the mission and that means we can abandon the mission anytime now. The money will still be given to us. It isn't worth it." Sakura said.

It was a good argument but...

"The mission will show as a failure on our record. This means that we failed our first C-ranked mission if we back out now and if we succeed, then the mission rank will be bumped up to B-rank or A-rank, enhancing our overall record. I think we cannot back out now." Sasuke replied.

He hated being weak and failure. It was something he abhorred after Itachi massacred the entire clan. He wasn't going to back out for no reason.

And so, according to the majority, The mission was continued.

Kakashi also wanted to help Tazuna because if what Tazuna was saying was true, then the revenue and mission assignment from the Land of waves would increase and all this would go to Konoha's pocket. This will definitely get him a raise which he wanted to get the new set of Icha Icha series that will be released in a month.

After traveling for 2 days, they were again walking on the road.

According to the map, they will be arriving to the location in a few hours.

During this time period, team-7 didn't encounter any dangers but they were cautious the whole time.

Suddenly, Naruto sensed some movement and threw a shuriken towards the bushes.

This surprised Sakura and Tazuna.

"Naruto! What are you doing?!" Sakura screamed but Naruto didn't pay her heed and went towards the bush.

He found out that he killed a snow white rabbit.

He was quite sad that this wasn't a ninja and he harmed an innocent animal.

'The rabbit isn't found anywhere near this region. Be careful.' Naruto heard Kazuya's voice from inside.

'Okay, Voice-kun.' Naruto said as he started checking his surroundings.

Suddenly a flying sword came towards them and Kakashi screamed, "DUCK!"

They immediately fell on the ground and discovered that a ninja was standing on the said sword's handle.

"If it isn't Momochi Zabuza. The demon of the mist." Kakashi said as he got up.

"Hoh...? If it isn't Kakashi of Sharingan? I must say I am quite honored to meet you. Kubikiribocho seeks high quality blood after all." Zabuza replied as he grabbed his sword and pulled it out of the tree.

"Now now...I don't like to waste my time so let's get this over with. Hand the old man over and I will let you go, no questions asked. Or else....be ready to die." Zabuza said as he stretched a little and suddenly mist started covering the atmosphere.

"You will try to kill us regardless of the answer...So why are you even asking?" Kakashi asked as he pulled out his Sharingan eye.

The battle was against one of the seven swordmen of Kirigakure, he couldn't joke around.

Hearing this, Zabuza chuckled a little.

"you know the best sort of despair comes when someone thinks they are truly out of misery and harm but realize they were playing in palms of others all along. That face people show when they realize they are being killed...the emotion...feels sooo...goooodd. hahahahaha!" Zabuza said with a creepy laugh.

"It seems that I will be killing you today, Kakashi of sharingan. I must say, I will enjoy having a sharingan as well as the bounty on your head." Zabuza said as he formed a seal.

"Kirigakure no jutsu!"

Suddenly the mist around him thickened and he disappeared from their sight.

Team-7 went around Tazuna and got a Kunai out of their pockets.

"Be extremely careful. Kiri nin are famous for Silent killing technique. By the time you find out someone attacked, you may find yourself in afterlife." Kakashi warned them as he waited for Zabuza to attack first.

He couldn't see him anywhere even with his sharingan. So it's better to wait and let the opponent attack first, than endanger himself, his team as well as the client.

"Die!" Suddenly he heard a voice from behind, where Tazuna was.

He immediately ran towards Zabuza and stabbed him in the stomach, only to discover it was a water clone.

"Die!" He heard another voice from behind which slashed him, but this time, Kakashi was a water clone as well.

Kakashi quickly got to Zabuza's back and put a kunai under his throat.

"Don't move. It's over." Kakashi said.

"Hahahaha. Is it?" Zabuza answered back as he was....melting?

"Sh*t. Another water clone!" Naruto screamed.

Without making any sound, a sword slash came towards Kakashi, almost beheading him. Kakashi somehow managed to avoid it but some of his hair got cut because of this. Zabuza didn't waste anytime and kicked Kakashi away, sending him flying into the river.

He quickly ran towards the river in order to finish off Kakashi but almost stepped on Makibishi spikes.

Even when Kakashi was kicked like this, he had enough time to place the Makibishi spikes. This only alerted Zabuza.

"Useless." he said as he jumped over them and stood over the water and made some hand seals quickly.

Meanwhile, Kakashi was trying to get out of the water and come over it but wasn't successful. The water seemed too heavy.

"Water prison jutsu!" Zabuza said as water began to collect and imprison Kakashi.

That moment, Kakashi knew, he f*cked up.
