"I have been waiting for you, my lord," a figure hidden in the shadows spoke as another figure, donning a cloak, walked into the barely lit hut. If one listened closely, one would recognize the figure's voice as that of a woman.
"So? Do you want me to apologize?" the cloaked figure retorted as he sat down on the wooden chair with a table in front of it, located at the center of the small room.
"No, my lord, I was simply wondering what took you so long. Forgive me if my words displeased you," the shadowed figure replied with a tone of deference.
With a huff, the other figure took off his cloak and draped it over the chair. Beneath the faint light of a single lantern, his pristine white shirt, golden cuffs, and gray pants indicated that he was a man of noble status. This nobleman was none other than Lord Kovic Kain, one of the councilmen in the King's council.
